The Usual Suspects
..
The publishers of Oakdale Confidential throw a party for the new novel. The fictional novel is written by an anonymous author, which features Carly, Katie and Maddie on the cover. Lucinda convinces Lily to attend this event along with most of the other people in town. Whos the author? That seems to be the big question as people in attendance begin trying to learn the big secret. Margo suspects that Katie is the author. While signing their separation papers, Jack learns about the book and takes off to confront his soon to be ex-wife. Carly tries to convince Jack that they are destined to be together, but Jack hears nothing of it and leaves her. Gwen comes upon a crying Carly and reaches out to her sister.
Mike and Maddie get into it after Mike tells her he knows she did it, referring to her telling Casey earlier that she wrote it. Despite telling Casey that she did, Maddie denies Mikes claim but says nothing when Kim praises Maddie for the all of the hard work that went into researching Oakdale History. Maddie is surprised when Margo thanks her for saying such wonderful things about her in the novel, and gives she and Casey permission to date. Casey of course is ecstatic and thinks thats a great idea. Maddie thinks so too
.should she decide that she wants to date Casey which is something she definitely doesnt want to do.
An Unexpected Discovery

Carly believe that she can get Jack back and gets the bright idea to go downstairs and destroy her water heater, then calls Jack for help. It turns out that after Mike got out of prison, a woman gave him some stolen jewels and disappeared. Afterwards he buried them in his old house, which now Carlys place. Mike wants to come clean to the authorities, but Katie in her infinite wisdom suggests that Mike dig them up and turn them in anonymously. Katie goes to Carlys house and finds her crying from her emotional encounter with Jack. She convinces Carly to have coffee with her elsewhere so they can talk; Mike sneaks in after they leave. Katie tries to distract Carly long enough for Mike to get what he needs, but it doesnt work. Carly doesnt buy into Katies lets be best friends act and storms out.
