This is ARAITHEL...forgot to add our resort...It's ASMo on April 12! See you guys in 2 weeks!:banana::banana:

I just got an email from Southwest Airlines, with a subject header of "Your Trip is Just Around the Corner!" This would be exciting, except that the only flight I booked on Southwest is our return trip home.

So after opening it, the message says, "Are you all set to go to DENVER?"

Nooooooooo!!!!! THAT part isn't supposed to be "just around the corner"!!!

Ah, darn! I forgot about those fun emails from Southwest!
This is our first time not flying them, we are flying Jet Blue...I don't think we will get one of those. :upsidedow

Deb, I'm so sorry to hear about this. I found an awesome pet sitter to come in every morning while we're gone to give my kitty his meds, freshen food/water and to report back to me everyday so I know he's okay. Also, my sisters and friends will be checking on him every every evening. They have authority to bring him to the vet if they feel he needs help. Between your daughter next door and a pet sitter, would you be able keep your April vacation?

We cancelled last year because our dd was too busy to come over often enough. Now the dog needs even more attention. Someone has to be there the minute Lady wakes up and get her outside or else we are cleaning the rugs. So we actually need someone to live in for us to go away. Dh keeps telling me we aren't cancelling, but April 7 is quickly approaching (the day I have to cancel in order to not lose the deposit). I'm really glad you found someone to take care of your kitty while you are gone.

on a side note I had A scare today, i received an email from my travel agent this morning saying my mickeymail was there, and at 17 days i was getting worried, she needed to verify my address. i sent addy. about 2 hrs later I got an email from someone else at the agency stating my agent no longer works there, but no worries huh, I have been working with her since april 2012, but no worries. good thing I got all my confirmation #s

I am at 13 days and my TA at AAA called me on 3/18 to say they had my Mickey Mail and which AAA did I want to get it at. A week later, they still didn't have it. Emailed my AAA agent and said it should be there by Tues or Wed this week. Now Thursday and NOTHING. Getting freaked out. DH only has one more day off (besides Easter) that he can go to the AAA and get it all before we leave.

Freaking out at the moment....

I have to say from reading all these AAA reports.....sounds like they SUCK!!! What is so hard about getting MM to people? Disney sends it out about 30 days before....whether to you if you booked directly, or to your agent. Your agent should then send it RIGHT OUT to you so you get it 1-2 days later! Not that difficult!

I totally agree!! I know my agent was on vacation the first week of March, but still, this is insane. She is in RI, I am in MA. Apparently she can't send it to me directly for some reason, so I asked her to send it to the AAA office in Rockland. It's like pulling teeth! Her email replies are always very curt and snippy, too. Yeah, all sweet and peachy when I book a $6000 trip with her and paid in full on day one...now she's the monster at the end of the book holding my MM hostage!

jeez, when we receive clients' MM, we send them out the SAME or NEXT day, I don't understand why AAA refuses to mail. They must not want to spend the money for postage??? Strange....

what's all this "cool weather" talk? I haven't checked the weather yet b/c I don't want to start obsessing over it (yet). When i hit 10 days I will start to obsess. No matter the temps, I'll just be happy with no rain (or keep the rain to overnight, lol). Actually, I shouldn't say that - I won't be happy if it gets too much over 80 degrees...........or too much under 70. So technically, I'll be happy with 70-80.

LOL! You are too funny:)

Anything over 50 with no snow in sight is a huge improvement for me. 60 degrees:rotfl2:? Yeah, I'll still be rocking shorts and a tank.

I'll be happy with anything from 68 - 82 degrees. I'm not high maintenance at all....:rotfl2:

On the luggage thing: No scale at the moment. I really don't want to buy one right now. :P A friend who flies regularly told me earlier that it would be really hard for us to go over the weight limit just with clothes, but now I'm worried!

We're flying Jet Blue; we get one checked bag each (50 pounds). So we could take an extra bag if we want it, but we only have three suitcases!

Another question: We thought we were getting length-of-stay tickets, but DH misinterpreted something. We have one day less than our stay. Now, this isn't a problem if our eight days of tickets start the first day we use them (we weren't planning to go to a park the first day), but it is if they start the day we check in (we were planning to go to a park our last day).

DH emailed the travel agent and didn't get a clear answer (she just said we could add another day). Which means I have to call because he won't. Or does anyone know? :rolleyes2

It kind of depends on how you pack. If you're a "roll everything and use space bags" kind of person, then yeah you'll probably go over with just the basics.
Most of the suitcases I have accommodate right around 40 lbs when packed to the gills. (I roll my clothes, but don't use space bags) The very biggest does go over sometimes, so I have to be careful with it (it's worth keeping for us, because DH is military, so oftentimes our limit is 70 lbs instead of 50).

If I was in your position, I'd probably go pick up a cheap duffel bag that can be folded up and stuffed in a suitcase (I think Walmart and Target both have them in their travel section). That way, if you're over, you can just take the bag out and fill it up, then check it as an extra bag. You won't want to plan to pack in it in advance, if you have any tendency to over pack. If, however, all your bags come in well under the 50 lb limit on the way down, you can use it for souvenirs on the way back.

Bummer.

Yeah...my TA has been very forthwith about it all. She even noticed my post on the DIS when I thought my MM was here (it was just my maps) and sent me an email about it, because she hadn't received it first yet. She told me when she got an email about the tracking number for it, and asked if I wanted her to separate out my sister's ME bar code and make a copy of the airport map to send to her directly. My sister lives over 1000 miles away, so I was planning on mailing it to her once it came. Now I don't have to!

That said, we're at like 17 days and I think she just got it yesterday. I'm sure it's probably because we booked a room only. It makes sense that Disney won't want to send it out too early for room onlys, because we could still cancel.

I like the idea of packing the duffle bag just in case you go over and then using it for souvenirs on the way home. We've never flown before, so I'm loving these tips! :thumbsup2

The luggage we ordered from Amazon came yesterday!!! Now I can start putting stuff in it. Went out today and got a pop up hamper (DD needs a new one anyway, so she can have it after) a small closet hanging storage cubby thing, earplanes, dramamine, and a toiletries case that hangs over the door.
18 days:scared1::banana::woohoo::eek::banana:

I fly too much, so I'm full of good tips.

So...my TA got my MM, but Disney messed it up. They put DS, DH, and I down as being on my sister's flight, and didn't have my sister added at all.
It should still get here in time, but it's still frustrating.

Just booked our trip myself and 22 yr old DD. April 17-22 at CBR.
Planning this late eliminates any chance of getting reservations at BOG so sad we will have to try for lunch at least.

I have gone over weight on luggage many times so I did invest in one of those little scales you pick up luggage with to check weight better then trying to rearrange your suitcase at the airport.

We did this our last trip and it was wonderful. We ended up throwing all of our dirty clothes in that duffel and had tons of room for goodies that we got there! We will most definitely be doing that again! Then when we got home, all of our dirty clothes were in one spot so we pretty much just dumped it in the washer!
