so......am I the only one that has an irrational fear of one of us coming down with the Flu right before our trip!? :confused3

I can't stop worrying about it!!

DH's boss went to Mexico during Christmas break, and they all started coming down with the flu the day before their vacation. They went ahead and left for Mexico, but ended up coming home 4 days early b/c they were all so miserable, and the trip was a total bust. That was what convinced me that we are going to add the trip insurance this time! The kids and I have had flu shots, so I'm not terribly worried about that, but there are so many bugs out there... it would be a real bummer if it happened on our vacation but at least with the trip insurance we could try again in a few months.

I have a dilemma so I thought I'd stop by and ask for the advice of my friends over at the April thread!

So I'm arranging a breakfast ADR for the day we leave. We originally had a breakfast ADR for another day, but since we're leaving so late in the day, we thought it made more sense to maximize our park time and have a relaxing breakfast before going home.

The reservation I cancelled was for Kona Cafe, but I was second guessing it. There isn't much on the menu my mom would eat, and I feel a buffet is more suited to her tastes and probably a better use of a dining credit. I booked 1900 Park Fare (for a 10 am breakfast so we can sleep in), because it's a extensive looking buffet with characters we both really like and may not otherwise see. What do you guys think? Anyone have any experience with 1900 Park Fare? Is 10 am too late or okay?

We love that breakfast, and we book all of our breakfast ADR's for around 10:00, its perfect because the crowds are dying off by then. Its DD's favorite, and the food is pretty good too.

OMG, every year I GO germ crazy starting 2 weeks before. I am always germ crazy, and have passed my phobia on to my kids, but dont let anyone come over to our house and go overly germ crazy right before. This year Easter is 2 weeks before we leave so I already started stressing about my "always sick" niece and Nephew getting us sick. I thought I was the only one that worries about it....

You girls aren't the only one. I freak out about that stuff too.. In 2008 myself, dh and ds all got the stomach bug on the way home.. I started feeling sick on UHF plane ( horrible feeling) my little guy threw up as soon as we landed and dh got sick once we were home.. Last 2 times, I brought about 5 packages of wipes. Every time we got off a ride I wiped our hands and if we sat somewhere for a long time I wiped down the area too.. Yes, I have passed on my obsession to my kid too..

My mom rarely gets sick so I don't worry about her getting sick before the trip, but I do get sick more frequently so it's something I worry about. I tend to get sick right before my exams, which are about 2 weeks before my trip this time, so I'm hoping that'll be it and then I'll be nice and healthy for the trip!

I've been the week leading up to easter and the week following easter. and really its not that bad! As long as you head to the park for opening you are all set! Leave after an early lunch and rest back at the hotel. We usually would hit the counter service places around 11:15 and eat before the crowds came rolling in. We used easywdw and avoided the parks that are NOT recommended and had a great time riding and seeing everything while enjoying BEAUTIFUL weather!

I agree with all of this! If you are willing to get up early spring break is not as bad as some people seem to think. If you get to the parks at noon, well... then I guess you are asking for long waits!

We don't really use the touring websites though. I know my dad looks at them sometimes but we don't let the predictions dictate what we're going to do.

I came down with the flu on my last disney trip and was INCREDIBLY sick the first four days of the trip. Disney has a darn good assortment of medicines for that sort of thing lol. I started puking just 2 hours after arriving on Disney property.... great timing, eh?

Double digits, double digits!! :cool1:

I am sitting here with a sick DH next to me with the flu...who knows if/when the rest of us will get it! But, I do keep thinking at least we are getting this out of the way before our trip! Trying to stay positive! I have also been thinking a couple of weeks before we leave no gym daycare for the kiddos! But then how am I going to get those last couple of pounds off?? I hope everyone stays healthy for their trip!

Let's put it this way...I've had the flu, the pneumonia since the day after Christmas. I'm just hoping this means that I'll be somewhat immune at trip time!

I have also had the same thing since the day after Christmas..........I'm gonna throw it out there that possibly it was your germs that made me sick. Lol joking of course.:rotfl2:

I am hoping that by April this flu crap will not be so wide spread. We went in feb. last year and all could think about was someone getting sick while we were there and how I would deal with it.

I saw on the news that the flu is now moving West....so those of us on the East Coast have probably seen the worst of it. I hope!

I just booked a a Boma breakfast ressie!!! :woohoo:
I've always wanted to go to AKL and I really think this will be the next resort we stay at (probably not for a few years) (then again, I said that after the last 2 trips in 2011 and 2012 and here we are again in 2013, lol. ;) ). I would have liked to squeeze it in on our AK day but we're doing lunch at TH and didn't want to hang around the park all day waiting to go over to AKL for dinner and then I remembered our last park day, I didn't plan anything for the morning/early afternoon, we were just going to hang around the resort or do mini golf or whatever and head over to MK mid-afternoon for the evening and a 5:00 p.m. ADR at Liberty Tree. But now I figure we can go do breakfast at Boma, come back to the resort by say 11ish and still have a couple hours to swim or whatever before heading over to MK.
So can you update the ADR page (because I can't keep track of them in my head and whenever I need to see them, i come to this thread, lol) wth:

4/17 - Boma @ 9:00

I can't wait to see if the kids love AKL.

God, I hope so!! I'm also hoping by April it's pretty much gone.
I am super paranoid about the flight though. There's such a high risk for sickness to be spread, even without an epidemic going on.

I may or may not have thought about bringing masks for us to wear on the plane. :rolleyes1 DH will think I'm insane and refuse to wear one, but hey, we'll see who might end up sick as a dog while on vacation because they didn't wear a mask. Won't be me or the kids!

FWIW, DH and I and the kiddos fly alot. We never wear masks...thus far...*knock on wood*, yadda, yadda, yadda. :wizard:

DH would consider divorce if I tried to make him wear a mask on a plane. :rotfl:

I hope so.

I almost never get sick. And ... I've been sick since Dec. 16. Pretty sure it was/is the flu, because I was the only one in the family who didn't get a shot, and DH and the kids were fine; didn't get it at all. (Thank heavens.)

Mostly better by Christmas, by New Year's the only thing I had was a nagging cough. Then last Wednesday, I started feeling like crud again.

Yup. Finally going to the doc today to see what I can do to get rid of this, though I doubt it's much. Ugh.

Jumping in! We'll be staying in a cabin at Fort Wilderness from March 30-April 6! It'll be me and my sister and then my kids (7, 4, 1) and her son (9). She's not a planner so I've got all the fun part! :) Right now, we just have one ADR--CRT, which is an essential part of the trip.
