OFFICIAL April 2012 DISers! 2 months and counting!

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that they will continue through April with the new rope "dropless" procedures with park openings 30 minutes earlier than posted times at DHS that they've been using for the past couple of weeks. So much better than the running of the bulls with the past rope drops!

Me too!! We are on central time, so it is really hard for us to swing rope drop; 9 am opening = 8 am for us, trying to get 3 kids ready and out the door by 7 doesn't happen!

And I reaaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyyy hope the goofini will be up and running. I have a tiny almost 7 year old who is going to be super bummed that BTMRR is closed, so please please please let there at least be one coaster for her to ride at MK this trip (that she is tall enough for)!!

Oh, I agree! Seeing some of the comparison's were pretty shocking to me. I could definately handle the "dropless" rope drop if it continues that way! I certainly am not THAT determined to see any attractions/rides that I have to run to them!!! We will just see what we see and love whatever we get to do!!!!

This will be the first visit for our DD5 and DS2 to DHS. Not sure yet what they will like and won't yet. I've been trying to convince DD to try out Star Tours since she meets the height requirement but she's not sold as she's not a big fan of Darth Vader. Showed her a video of Jedi Training and she's definitely staying away from that! :rotfl: I guess I may have to wait another 2-3 years before I can live vicariously through my kids of having a lightsaber dual with Vader - why don't they let adults do this??? :rotfl2:

Ugh! I agree 100%. My little guy (who is my partner is STAR WARS fandom) is sitting this trip out and it has me bummed for this exact reason!! My 9yoDD has had a rough few years, and this trip is a gift to her from my parents. Only thing is, she has such bad seperation anxiety - she refused to go without me! LOL! So, I get to tag along!!! My son will get his own dream vacay to DW when he is 10 years old. Hopefully I'll be able to come along then as well - cause I know he'd absolutely LOVE to go during StarWars Weekend and that's something I'd LOVE to see too!!!!

There is quite a bit to see at DHS though, even without StarWars in the mix. Our list looks something like this for now:

1: Honey I Shrunk The Kids Playground
2: Muppet Vision 3D (show)
3: Star Tours (with or without DD I would LOVE to see this!)
4: Beauty & The Beast (live stage show)
5: The Magic of Disney Animation (DD is a HUGE artist and she desperately wants to see this one)
6: Voyage of the Little Mermaid (live stage show)
7: Pixar Parade (this is the only parade I really want to see, cause Pixar is my favorite!!!)

Overall, it seems like it would be a fairly chill day, only 2 of those things we want to see are fast pass attractions, so we should be able to see most, if not all of them! What do you guys think? Would this be a fullday or a halfday itinerary? We are also trying to find time to do the BB and TL waterparks, as well as some DTD in the mix, maybe we can do one of those areas on this day as well? Or not?

do you know when they are predicting great goofini will open?

That's a very similar list to what we have. We are going to give TSM a try with FPs - just hoping that our kids don't ask for a second run! We're also making a stop at Disney Live and make an effort to meet Phineas and Ferb. Since my FIL is coming with us, we're also thinking about having the 1-2 adults breakaway here and there to FP RRC and ToT if time permits while the kids are at Honey I shrunk the kids playground or in one of the live shows. I'm thinking we'll be there until 4:30-5:00pm. We're skipping Fantasmic.

do you know when they are predicting great goofini will open?

Up until a week ago, most were guessing that it would open in Mid-Feburary based on the refurb dates published for Dumbo. This week, Disney announced they are pushing back the re-opening date for Dumbo to mid-March. Some are hoping that the Goofini and FL trainstation will still open in mid-Feb, but most think they will likely push both to March to coincide with Dumbo's opening based on the recent construction photos where there appears a lot more work to be finished and that the new Dumbo location sort of cuts off the Goofini/Trainstation from the eventual accessway from Teacups/Speedway area.

As long as it's open in April, we'll be happy!

Know what you mean about the time differences - I used to underestimate the power of even a one hour difference. But when I was visiting central time areas (I'm in EST) for conferences, I kept waking up at 5am (which would be my usual wake up time back home) and couldn't fall back asleep. Would spend the entire length of the conference exhausted. :sad2:

You should be able to do all that with no problem. If they were all just rides it would be easier, you'll have to work out all the show times not to sure of how they run. I have boys so we've never been to LM. B&B is amazing though!! Made my boys sit through that one. You definately NEED to add TSM. It is a similiar ride to Buzz, but way more fun. Sure your kids would  it! I know parade is around 3:00 I think?
I can't believe how fast this trip is coming!!:woohoo:

This might sound like a silly question about the ropeless RD but I've been wondering and I just need to ask it. If they continue this, won't people eventually (once they catch on) just start showing up 30 minutes early so the running of the bulls would just take place 30 minutes earlier than what RD is scheduled for?

I agree that more people will catch on to the park opening 30 minutes than the posted time if this procedure continues to go on.

But I think the key part of this procedure that prevents the "running of the bulls" to TSM is not so much how early they are opening the park, but that they are using the turnstiles at the gates as a filter so to speak to trickle the crowds into the park. Sort of like those traffic meters on the freeway entrance ramps during rush hour. Without a rope inside the park, there will be no bottlenecking of the crowds so once you go through the turnstile your on your way to TSM.

Josh at easywdw explains it a whole lot better than I just did in his blog post with pictures! Here's the link:

So, I've been waiting every so (im)patiently for the flights to go down. What is the latest any of you have bought your flights? We are coming from Cali, so no chance of us driving...although I did map it out and laughed for half an hour! :rotfl:

Howdy everyone! I could swear I already replied in on this thread yesterday but now I can't find it. Internet monster ate it I suppose...

We're going to be in April 25th - May 9th! Woohoo! My first ever 2 week trip AND my first ever time at the Contemporary AND I'm getting Married

Our wedding is at the Swan on the 28th and we will Disneymoon the rest of the time.

We've always visited the week before Thanksgiving, so I'm a bit nervous to be in the parks when they are actually busy. Here's to hoping it's moderate!!

April 19-29 at POR. This will be our second trip to WDW. Myself, DH, DD11 & DD8. We are all excited but I am a crazy planner so I may have bored them with discussing the trip by now!

My first post to the board but I have been lurking for a very long time! I can't wait to countdown with everyone. We are all very blessed to be able to have these opportunities!!

:surfweb:

We have actually decided we are not that interested in doing TSM believe it or not! (Shocking, I know! We clearly are in the minority I think!) We have the game on our Wii and that's good enough for us. If our 4 yoDS was going, then for sure we wouldn't miss it - but our DD is WAY more interested in getting to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon after the parks for a couple of hours! :lmao: Plus, DD gets motion sickness VERY easily, so she isn't sure about the spinning, moving back and forth and such on TSM. StarTours is a ride I'll just do with my Dad probably and my DD will sit it out with my Mom. In fact, that may be when they hit up the Honey I shrunk the Kids Playground (depending on how close they are to one-another in proximity I suppose) DD is the only little one coming on this trip so she decides the itinerary!!!!

Do you know where I can get my hands on a schedule of the different stage shows/3D movies at DHS? That way we can plan our day accordingly. :)

hi im going april 18 to 23 and staying at port orleans riverside hotel in the new royal guest rooms. was wondering how would be the crowds this week? i hope spring break crowds are over by then!

You're at the end of the month like me; I'm hoping that it will be less crowded because MOST spring breaks will be over. CONGRATS on your wedding! :woohoo:

We will be at AKV from April 20th - 24th...can't wait :cool1:

Us too!! yay!

Here are a couple of websites I've been using to get an idea of the showtimes understanding that the current showtimes may not exactly reflect what they will be in April. But I'm guessing they should be in the same general ballpark.

That's when we'll be there as well. It won't be the peak of spring break season and crowds should be thinning out from the Easter vacationers, but there's still a good number of school districts especially in the Northeast that are taking a spring break that week. Moderate level of crowds most likely.

I noticed DaveInFallsChurch got you a couple of links- those should give you an idea. I just noticed you are staying at the Poly.:woohoo: We stayed there in August and  it!!!! Just an FYI- the pool gets crowded quick!! It's not very big for that size of a resort- imo.
