OFFICIAL April 2012 DISers! 2 months and counting!

We were initially planning a end of January trip to coincide with a few days my daughter has off of school. But I've been concerned about the fact that it's just six months out and we haven't been able to plan anything - we've been waiting a bit to get a better idea of how much we can spend, waiting to see if any offers come out, waiting, waiting... ugh. So now, we're looking at late April - we'll have a much better idea of a vacation budget and I'll have a bit more time to obsessively plan ;).
So it looks like the kids might be getting a Mickey surprise in their Easter baskets! :earsboy:
Tentatively looking at April 21 or 22, through April 27 or 28. No idea where we'll be staying, but considering either renting points or POFQ.

Now to figure out how to change my ticker!

We have not officially booked yet but we will most likely be going next April for spring break! In the meantime I am planning a long weekend trip this fall to go visit my sister who will be doing the College Program!

Any advice on these dates? We were originally looking to go April13-22nd, still hoping for that, BUT I see flights on Jetblue that are $1,360.00 for roundtrip nonstop for the 4 of us that leave APril 11th and return April 20th. Would those dates make a HUGE difference? Is that still an insane amount for airfare? We went during the week before easter last year and it was crowded but not unbearable at all, we had a blast! Our airfare last year was the most we ever paid, $1,680.60 but we figured it was the week leading up to Easter :confused3 Should I hold out for cheaper airfare for the dates that the kids will only miss 1 day of school ( an early release day!) or book the cheaper flights and have them dismissed 1:30pm on Wed April 11th, miss Thurs/Fri? I posted this on another thread but got no responses so I'm trying here:rotfl2: thanks to all that have read my jibberish:rolleyes1

Well, I don't want you to feel ignored, but I can be of no help at all. We drive.

I really don't know much about airfare, honestly. Our dates are pretty set in stone (school schedules) so I'm just hoping to find flights under $300 each for the 4 of us. Anything below that is gravy.

I can't help you either! Sorry...flights are DH's doing. He usually uses his miles for our tickets too! Our dates are set too for Spring Break!

FYI, if you're going the week before Easter and checking in between March 25th and March 31st, there's a free dining deal. Call now! We are staying at POFQ so we were eligible for free DDP but I upgraded us to DxDP and ended up SAVING $500 for the four of us. DH is over the moon because he loved the signature restaurants and now we can do more of them!

thanks everyone! We are also going for our sons April school vacation. But we have resorted to pulling them a bit early to get a better price on the airfare. Oh well. The free dining ends in March and that stinks:sad2: we are going April 11th-20th. We hoped for the 13th-22nd. Its ok, I will let the schools know ASAP. I won't book anything yet though...holding out for a Code off the room or the package!!!!:worship: PLEASE Disney give us April goers something:woohoo:

As of right now we are planning on staying at AsSp from April 11th to the 20th. If airfare stays as high as it is we will be driving for sure. Lets cross our fingers!!!

mreid1974...we are flying out of BDL those exact dates and the air is high but not nearly as high as leaving on the sat!! Check it out, not sure where you are flying out of??

Yes definatly gonna fly out of BDL. Less then a hour from my house. We usually stay the night before cause we get the earliest possible flight and we can leave the car there

DD16 is so bummed - her best friend's parents decided suddenly that her BFF can't come with us after all - they want to plan a family trip so they can all have their "first trip" together.

We're looking at some alternative people to bring with us - she has a 'sorta' cousin that she gets along with well and will be 15 at the time of the trip, but last I heard she's afraid to fly so I don't know if it'll work out, I'm going to talk to my ex-SIL in a few weeks. (My ex-SIL is still close family, she remarried and has two kids my daughter's age).

So we're all kinda flailing around. DD was expecting to have someone her age to run around with, and DH and I were expecting to have a few nights of "grown up time" to go out to eat and do some stuff at WDW.

But, as I told DD last night, no matter what, even if she doesn't have a friend with her, she's still going to be at WDW, and really, how bad can THAT be? ;)

Hey, also, if people want to post their dates/resort I'll edit it into the first post on this thread. :)

All Star Sports April 5th through April 13th : taking DS and his 3 DBFFs! :cool1:

mreid1974, did you check out those prices on Jetblue? They were not tooooo bad:confused3 we booked the 6:30 am flight out, and on the return the 11:11 am flight.

We are going April 11th-20th probably staying at ASMO:banana: haven't booked our package yet. We will be doing the Dining plan and 6 day base tickets. We plan on visiting Seaworld for a day too:yay:

I have looked at Jetblue. But havent booked it yet. But i will definatly be doing a early morning flight. So we very well may end up on the same flight. But on the return flight we like to leave late. So we can spend a little more time at the world. We very well may have a Dis meet on the plane :rotfl:

we usually take the later flight home, last year we spent the whole day at Epcot! The am flight was cheaper this time, and after having 9 full days there we will be ready to come home to our Lily (toy fox terrier) also it gives us the weekend to relax before heading back to school/work. We booked the flight but not the room yet! I see lots of us April Disers staying at the Allstars!! Cool! We are trying it out again after a bunch of years staying elsewhere. Hoping to see more people join on in this group:grouphug:

Woo hoo!! :cool1: I was finally able to book our timeshare today! We'll be at Sheraton Vistana Villages from 4/22 - 4/29.

I need to have DH call our timeshare and book us! We are now probably going from April 5-11 because my sister has to fly home early to head to DC for school event.

I hope we can check in at timeshares on Thurs...if not it's the 6-12th
