I had to laugh at this because something very similar happened to me last night. (Not about Michael Johns of course. ;) ) My oldest son is 18 and usually gets completely ticked off when I tell him he'll always be my baby. I usually get one of these  Well, I was watching the Yankees' opener last night and my favorite young player, Melky Cabrera had a big night making two fantastic defensive plays and hitting a home run to boot! I was really excited and screamed out, "Yeah! That's my baby!" DS gets this sad look on his face and says to me, "But I thought I was your baby." :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

Imagine if your son's NAME was Melky Cabrera??? :scared1:

My son has to deal DAILY with the fact that is name IS Michael John!! They don't want us to treat them like babies but they sure want you to recognize the fact that they ARE our babies!! :lmao:

My review:

I'm not a fan of country music or Dolly Parton so I didn't know very many songs last night but I still enjoyed the show, one of the best all around shows since the 1st Beatles week.

What was wrong with Simon tonight???? I thought it was very mean to critisize Carly' clothes last night.

Brooke White – I like Brooke, she's my favorite girl and I though she did ok. I agree with Simon (the only time tonight), she acted like she was just trying to get through the song, no emotion.

David Cook – He did good for a song about sparrows, LOL!!! My thoughts and prayers go out to David and his family.

Ramielle Malubay – Did nothing for me. I'm hoping she goes home tonight.

Jason Castro – loved it as always. I think Randy became a "dreadhead" tonight - first time all season that he said he finally "believed Jason"

Carly Smithson – Carly is a really good singer, she's just not my favorite girl.

David Archuleta - the boy wonder, need I say more.

Kristy Lee Cook – Unfortunately I think Kristy is going to sneak by again tonight. I HATE her talking back to Simon.

Syesha Mercado - I thought it would be worse than what it actually was. It was just ok.

Michael Johns – Surprise, surprise, I really liked his performance tonight.

Top Three:
Jason
David C.
Michael

Bottom Three:
Ramielle
Kristy
Syesha

Going Home:
Ramielle

My review:Kristy Lee Cook – Unfortunately I think Kristy is going to sneak by again tonight. I HATE her talking back to Simon.

I totally forgot about that. What was with that whole "I still love you Simon" or whatever she said. Some of them really need to learn to stand there and just accept the criticism, they might actually learn something if they weren't so busy trying to think of comebacks.

Robin, your pregnancy test comment cracked me up. I have to tell you, I don't know you from Adam, but I was thinking of you during MJ's performance last night wondering if you were freaking out.

Actually I was on the phone with my boyfriend who was NOT happy... especially when I dropped the phone after that last note.... I couldn't get Simon's remark because my stupid DVR cut off and switched to Dancing with the Stars (WHICH by the way, bores the snot out of me this year!!) and I lost the end of the show!!!

Needless to say I forgot about the phone and got back online ... :surfweb: oh well...

American Idol contestant David Cook was hospitalized after Tuesday night’s live show when he felt heart palpitations, a source confirms. Cook was treated for high blood pressure and released back to the Idol apartments where he was “doing fine,” the source says.
One of the top contenders, Cook once again wowed the judges and audience with a stylish version of Dolly Parton’s “Little Sparrow.” Sporting a new haircut, he appeared happy and healthy during his performance.
But afterwards, Cook was noticeably absent when contestants were led into the bleachers to sit with fans and watch a live performance of last year’s winner Jordin Sparks and R&B sensation Chris Brown sing their new single “No Air.” (The segment was taped for a later broadcast).
Cook’s hospitalization was first reported by TMZ.com. — Monica Rizzo and Jed Dreben.

I'm glad to hear that David C is going to be fine. He is one of my favorites this year.

I only had heard two of the songs last night, but for the most part I really enjoyed it.
My wish is that in the next three weeks Syesha, Ramielle and Kristy lee will go home. After they are gone, I will have a harder time seeing people go, because I like everyone else for one reason or another.

This is exactly how I'd like to see it go down too.

Got this off another board. :sad1: :sad1:

I hope he's ok. Just to think he was going through all that and still pulled off such a great performance. I adore that man!!

TMZ has learned what probably triggered the medical emergency with
David Cook tonight.

As we first reported, Cook was taken to the hospital after his heart
began palpitating and his blood pressure rose. We're told Cook, who
has high blood pressure to begin with, has been under tremendous
stress because his brother has been ill. We're told David's brother,
who has cancer, suffered a setback within the last week, and it has
really put David on the ropes.

David has been completely stressed out during the entire season.
During one of the first shows, David broke down and said he couldn't
perform that night -- and changed his mind at the last minute.

We're told earlier tonight, David began complaining that he did not
feel well. After the performance, Cook reassured people he was OK --
but ultimately realized he needed medical help.

Story developing ...

Yikes. Poor guy. I hope he's okay.

Thank you so much for going to so much trouble! I don't mind the "Idol Chatter" at all, but I avoid the thread during the show. ( I have to devote every single second to it, ;) ) By the time I make it to the thread I never know where to start reading, lol. Again, thank you. You didn't have to do it, but just wanted to let you know that it is appreciated.

No problem. It only took a few minutes. :)

Okay, I'm about to exterminate a BEE...

haha. sorry.

Ugh. I managed to forget the creepy Celine Dion/Elvis duet from last year. But here they go again! From mjsbigblog:

Remember Celine Dion dueting with a very dead Elvis during last year’s Idol Gives Back? Did you think it was as creepy as I did? Well, straight from Mimi’s website comes this news:

Mariah to duet with late Marvin Gaye on “Idol Gives Back” Mariah will be performing “What’s Going On” on the “Idol Gives Back” special as a duet with the late Marvin Gaye via a video performance. The show will air on April 9th on Fox.

I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed last night even though I didn't know the songs. Dolly is a gifted songwriter.

Loved David Cook and Brooke. Liked Carly and Michael.

I thought David A. was HORRIBLE last night. I totally disagree with Simon in that it was not a good song choice. Vocally he was fine, but the song was so old fashioned and irrelevant for his age. And come on....that bit during the clip about how the song reminded him of home....I am sorry but this kid is so fake and manufactured. Such a shame too because he IS talented.

Go home Ramiele and Kristy. Please. Sadly I think Sayesha's days are numbered but at least she is somewhat pleasant (if boring) to listen too. It will be a shame if she goes before Ramiele and Kristy.

I agree about David A. Well, I didn't think he was that bad last night. But I also didn't think he was amazing, like everyone else. I feel kind of bad for the kid. He's such a robot.

I just wanted to say thank you for doing this. I had been trying to catch up with the thread but then started to flip through quickly. I don't mind that you insomniacs chat on the thread at night--seriously do you people NOT sleep?:rotfl2: --but it was great to have a guideline where the rest of us could come back in.

That would be the correct bottom three IMO. I also like that they seem now to be able to make a larger number of predictions about who's safe. For many weeks there was one person safe (usually David A.) and then all the rest were in danger of being voted off.

I sleep. I just sleep horrible hours. I stay up too late...and sleep in too late. I need to stop doing that though.

Who does dialidol have in the bottom?

I thought David looked kind of sad and distant while he was getting the comments from the judges. I didn't think much of it though. I thought maybe he was just trying to act humble or something.

As much as I pick on the kid I feel for him, too. He is aDORable, but not the god that the screaming girls make him out to be. The whole scenario seems fake.

When I see the floodgates open for David Cook, it's like the difference between love at first sight and gradual admiration. The latter is more concrete. I think he has staying power.

David A peeked too early. His fanbase is scattering and he's got to hold onto this expectation everyone has dumped on him. No matter, if the PTB decide he's the guy, HE'S THE GUY.
