Okay, here is my 2 cents on the issue with Scott, his past, and why I do not feel he should be where he is.
I am all for people making up for their past, learning, making a better life for themselves after they pay for their mistakes. That is not where the issue lies for me.
If Scott were to get a recording contract on his own talent and merit and succeed, more power to him. We all know the music industry is full of less than moral people and we can pick or chose who we want to be fans of or even put on a pedestal as an "Idol".
But I do NOT believe that he should be allowed to continue in this contest because of his violent past. If you are trying to promote someone as an "idol", I feel that person must have a moral standard that definately does not include domestic violence.
Kids watch this show dreaming of their chance to get up on stage and maybe become the next big singer and if we say to them "you can beat your girlfriend and we will still stand behind you, call you incredible (in the case of how Paula is acting) and make you famous".. what message are we sending them? That America doesn't really care about morals?
Geez Louise, we have enough trouble with the morals of our politicians. And you can better believe that anyone convicted of domestic violence would have a hard time getting far in politics.
I didn't watch the first three seasons but I have read on here that someone named Frenchie was kicked off because she posed topless. Well, why is what she did punishable and worse than
abusing your girlfriend who just gave birth to your baby 3 weeks earlier?? I'm sure at the end of the day, nobody walked out of a hospital ER with bruises after what Frenchie did (ok, keep your perverted comments to yourself

) Let me clarify though that I do not feel she should have continued either because she had a past that did not fit that of someone being promoted as an "idol" for youth.
Like I said earlier, I am not saying that Scott should not be able to make it on his own merits. If he can get himself out there and get a recording contract, that is fine by me. But I do NOT believe American Idol should be helping him do it.
