Bo could have done so many other good selections, but choose to sing something from Pippin. "Corner of the Sky" is boring at best, and I couldn't understand his lyrics. He would have been better suited to something from Jesus Christ Superstar or Hair. His voice would have been a better fit.

Apparently someone posted that they only had about 10 musicals to choose from. So probably neither of those musicals were on the list. I love theater and thought the choices were bad myself but if you only have a few to pick from then the choice is easy!!

That would make sense, but then how come it took Vonzell 3 hours to pick a song, if there weren't many from which to choose--- unless they are ALL that bad, and she had to choose the least of all evils? Still in all... there are plenty of good songs from Camelot, and Sound of Music without Carrie resorting to that boring waltz from The King and I!

I thought that the choices were pretty atrocious, well, except Anwar and Constantine. The fact that there were no choices from Phantom, Rent, or Wicked really surprised me!

Bo cracked me up with the "I just closed my eyes and pointed". Can you imagine if he had pointed to "I feel pretty"?

Now THAT would be some entertaining stuff! what about "Do a Deer" or "The Lonely Goatherd" since TSOM was on the list

I wonder who picked these musicals? I guess they can only get rights for so many, but there are so many better choices out there for the singers. It could have been a lot better IMO!

I think that Carrie would have been much better served by singing something from Camelot. Guenevere has some beautiful songs and I think that she would have been able to pull them off.

I think I was most put off by Nikko and Anthony for taking beautiful music and destroying it with pop and hip hop influences.

It is a shame that they couldn't have gotten some better choices in musicals. These are all kind of boring!

The funny thing is when Seacrest was naming musicals to get them to guess the theme I remember him saying Phantom of the Opera and that isn't even on the list....then when they cut to him live he said the theme is "classic musicals"

I'm just curious....... with all the talk about Paula and her weird behavior, Is there something I don't know, I mean where did everyone come up with her using drugs and/or drinking, or is this just everyone's thoughts on this board ???? I agree that she has been stranger than usual, but I guess I always thought that was just her personality

Plus, it has been far wierder than "just Paula" the past few weeks. The night that she was hanging on Simon and couldn't even speak in a normal tone was pretty much a give-away in my opinion.

Just wanted to say that DW and I both were trying to predict what he would sing, once they announced the theme, and both agreed it would probably be something from Superstar.

I just wish they had let them do more current musicals. Stuff from Rent, Les Mis, Phantom...Shoot, even Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. Actually, Bo's performance last night REALLY reminded me of another recent broadway performance: listen to the guy (name escapes me at the moment) that plays the part of Fiyero on the Wicked soundtrack...Sounds JUST like Bo did on his song last night !

God, I fell asleep. I had the worst possible headache last night. Worst I've had in years. What did Bo sing? I remember what Constantine sung. It was very good. Best that I remember besides Vonzel.

I think thats what we all just came up with that would explain her very weird behavior. Shes just acting so incredibly spacey and its not normal for her. There has to be a reason.

I also wish that more contemporary musicals would have thrown into the mix. I love some of the shows on that list but most of these are difficult for veteran Broadway performers much less American Idol contestants!

Some people like Brittany (who can't sing) and some people like Christina (who can). Personally, when I hear something on the radio, I couldn't care less about the "personality" of the person singing. It's all about the talent. It's NOT about who can be Miss Congeniality (or Mr. Personality, if you'd prefer). At least, that's not what it's supposed to be about.

Umm...Actually, singing has everything to do with who I'm going to vote for. This is, at it's heart, supposed to be a TALENT competition. While it's certainly true that some skate by on "personality" rather than performance, that doesn't change the fact of what I am looking for in a candidate. You asked why people like Carrie, and I told you: because she's the best singer of the group.

Personally, I'll side with substance over presentation any time.
