Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

The medals could not have come out at a better time: I'm dealing with tight hip flexors (both of them! ack!) and painful toes (I really need new shoes), so finding motivation has been difficult. I went for a 4 mi run yesterday and felt like I was slugging along but was actually running faster than my usual pace. Went out for a 3 miler this morning and wound up listening to "Let It Go" three times in a row for motivation. It worked!

Yeah! :yay::yay: Did you run in Mass.? Burr..'cause I thought 35 degrees was cold here in NC. Hope your sister's IT gets better. Did you go to the runDisney site and put in info? It looks pretty good, and I hope it works. I guess no more emailing and getting conformation.
❄️ Brrr. Yes it was quite cold, teens, light breeze off a river and it has snowed the night before! The race staff did a good job cleaning everything up though, and the course was in good shape. Only one small part had slush to contend with.

We did update our times. I had entered mine at registration, but using the new system it seemed not to work, because my time said unverified. So I redid it. I screenshot the page, because I don't trust technology;)

I've been having IT problems since the TOT last month but today I just went for a sports massage - the woman was excellent. She knew within 1 minute of starting my left leg that my lower leg was actually the problem, and was making my IT overcompensate, hence the issues. I feel like a new woman! I hadn't gotten far with the foam roller or anything. So if your sister isn't seeing results as the race gets closer, might be something to consider!

I have the same issue. In this years princess half and 10k my it band was so bad my knee was buckling forcing me to walk at times. That got better and suddenly I had severe (partially torn) plantar fasciitis. Was in a walking boot most of the summer unable to train at all. I see a fantastic sports PT now, and he says I have a strong core, but I use it all wrong. To compensate for not stabilizing my hips and pelvis with my core when I run I use my lower legs. So now I get graston technique massage on my calves and really focus on getting my core to stabilize my running. It's made a huge difference. I'm feeling so much stronger on my runs and getting faster without trying:) Hoping and praying to run the GSC & 5k this year totally healthy.

Everyone will show unverified before the cut off date

I am wondering if any of you can help me verify or correct my memory? I am trying to recall the order of the kids races. I know somewhere in my house I have my program from last year, but I can't find it. My son keeps changing his mind about whether or not he wants to do a kids race, and some are starting to sell out. He would do either the 400m or 1-mile. He is 8. I think he wants to do it, but hates its a princess theme, and thats why he says he is not interested. He did the 400m last year and was so excited when it was over and he'd done it. But he saw the medal is Olaf, who he likes(only part of his sister's Frozen filled world he tolerates;) so I think that renewed his interest and made it seem less "princessy".

I don't want it to sell out, so I am thinking I am just going to register him for one, and if he bails on it so be it. I seem to recall last year the 1 mile went first, then they did the 100, 200 and 400m, the the diaper dash. Can anyone tell me if I am correct? I'd like to sign him up for the earliest option, because my daughter and I will be doing the 5k, so I'd like to finish that, meet my son and husband, and have him do his race. Only wrinkle is my daughter says she wants to do a kids race in addition to the 5k. Can't decide what to say to that. She'd be the 200m because she is 6. If the 1 mile is last then I guess I'd have him do the 400m.

Also can anyone tell me if the 1 mile actually goes into EPCOT?

Thanks!

I know it has been pretty quiet on here...but all of a sudden I am freaking out! Haha. It just suddenly hit me it is only 2 months away! :cool1:

I need 2 running outfits. I think I am doing a Jasmine inspired outfit for the 5k, not full on costume but I have a top and I am looking for a tutu and tights (as my first princess weekend I feel I need at least one tutu!). I am not doing a costume so much for the half, but I do want to get a really girly outfit and maybe some ears or a tiara. Do we think the half race bib will be pink and purple like the medal photo they released?

No sure if this was ready asked but does anyone know what the swept points are for the race? Not that I want to be swept..

Chase, we are working on costumes, too. It's not long before we can make FP+ and check in online. That would be nice if bibs match the medal ribbons. Just hoping the bibs have some snowflakes on them like the ribbons.

I don't think there's anything set in stone. But I've seen/heard of people being swept at 2 miles, 3 miles, just before entering mk, just after mk around mile 7-8. The typical last hard sweep is mile 10. Most people believe if you get up the clover leaf overpass with sarge you are safe.

I personally think I'm safe once I go over the overpass into epcot. I've seen a bus parked at mile 11.5 right before that last over pass but haven't seen them lurking after that.

So my best answer is until you go over the parking lot booths into epcot you really can't consider yourself safe.

After you said this I looked more closely at the medals...looks like the purple shade with pink and "Elsa" light blue accents. So I am guessing the bibs will be at least sticking to those colors? At least from what I can pick up from looking at prior pics on google! So - I am torn between going as girly as possible with bright pink running tights and a pink tank top, OR the exact same thing but in baby blue. Tough decisons...oh the horrors of running they never warn you about :rotfl:

I concur. I've sent so many emails to my girlfriends to get their input on costume ideas - so many important decisions!! :)

And, in case it isn't obvious from my screen name, I'll be running the Princess 10k in a Merida inspired outfit. I saw a small Merida bow & arrow set at the Disney outlet a few months ago & I'm kicking myself for not buying it as an accessory! Then again, not sure I'd want to carry it through the entire race...

For those of you planning outfits around the medals, just in case you didn't know, there's some discrepancy on what the medals actually look like. Last weekend at an expo for Rock-n-roll someone saw the actual medals (well, most of them b/c the 5K and 10K were stolen) and they are SILVER, not gold.

There was also a travel agent photo that showed them silver with different colors.

Looks like we'll all be a little surprised or at least have to wait to know for sure until Marathon weekend if someone gets a pic then.

Funny!! I wonder how many people are going as their avatar! I'm running the 10k as marie! ;) in my mind she is an unofficial princess!

:thumbsup2 I agree - once inside EP, I think they only do medical sweeps. Before that, they can sweep at any point.

Oh interesting - I totally missed that! I hope they really are silver - that would be a nice change. princess:

I'm going as my avatar too! I love Aurora!

My favorite princess :good vibes and I have honored her in past years.
I have also dressed as Minnie :)

But this year, the costume things is going slowly. I wasn't even going to run again. I did the first 5 years and said enough and then they added the Glass Slipper last year so I did it, actually 5k, 10k, and half, and again said enough. Then my son said lets run in 2015. Ugg. But who can say no to a 21 year old son. I can't, and he already knew what he wanted to dress like. So I am working on it and not too concerned about the race as we can do that.
So, does any one know of a true red fabric paint? 'cause I am having a hard time finding the true red color I need.

Haven't looked at fabric paint, yet. DD and I will be in need of some. DD is going as Anna, my niece is going as Elsa. My ideas are Malificent, the Evil Queen or Rapunzel. All costumes will be Disney bounding style. I need two costumes, 10k and half, and I'm trying to utilize items I already have. I don't know if I like the silver medals. Perhaps those were prototypes. Silver tone does give the medals a different look, a little colder, not as rich. Time will tell. Looking at the medal photos again, the jewels are hard to see with the silver.
