Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Ok, add me to the injury group :( I haven't run since the 2nd! My knee has been bothering me, the outer edge of my left knee. I blame indoor soccer more than running, but I don't exactly remember what I did to hurt it. I was trying to just lay low and see if it got better on it's own, but it's still bugging me a bit, so I will try a trip to the physio now :(

:(. That's no good! I'm still on the mend from tearing my ACL, MCL, and meniscus from an indoor soccer game. If it's your IT Band, try using a foam roller to help. I even got a R8 Roll Recovery to work on my leg muscles. It has made a world of difference. Hope your knee feels better ASAP!

Those massage sticks work really well too, they've been using one on my calf at PT...in all honesty, my calf was so tight today that I used a rolling pin on it out of desperation because the foam roller wasn't really doing it! Good thing I don't bake very often! :-P

Yikes! I hope your recovery goes smoothly. Damn soccer, I will be more careful. I got a foam roller yesterday so I'm working on it now. The stiffness is going away with the stretches and rolling, so that's good. I haven't tried running yet, one more physio trips first :)

Haha, why not!! No point in having two things that are practically the same!

And in case anyone cares about my trip planning, I just booked our celebratory dinner at the Flying Fish Cafe Chef's Table :goodvibes It's a splurge, but I think it'll be great! My sister is paying for the hotel room so I'll take her for a fancy dinner.

Does anyone remember when they send out a pre-order link to purchase the Dooney and Bourke purses and other commemorative merchandise? I ran it last year, and I didn't get the link sent to me, but this thread let me catch it anyway. I'm running again this year, and I really want to make sure I get a purse! Thanks! :-) princess:

I hope there is some sort of preorder. I saw avengers was first come first serve. I hope it's not like that for princess. I don't want chaos.

The Dooney and Bourke line/process for avengers was very smooth. Still plenty of purses on Saturday except for the tote. That sold out Friday afternoon

I dread the chaos at the Expo every year. 2013's PHM Expo at Coronado Springs (IIRC) was awful, what a mess! I don't really dilly-dally at the Expo, but I do like to get in to get a new Sweatyband or two, and to check out the clever running tshirts for sale there (and get a sprinkle of pixie dust from one of the fairy godmothers - I hope they do that again next year!). We're going on opening day since we're also running the 5K, so hopefully it won't be as bad as going on the last day like I have done in the past.

Anyone doing so volunteer work for this event?

I will be running the 5 & 10 k but my friend is doing also the 1/2 marathon and was thinking it might be cool to do some volunteer work on the sunday!

Any experience???

Thanks!!!!

I was thinking about volunteering, too. The only day that might work for me is sometime on Thursday. I have lots of plans on the other days. Am I reading it correctly that you get a one day one park ticket as a bonus, because they need so much help. When does the freebee ticket expire? It's a little confusing, because Disney also talks about the point system.

I was just looking into the volunteering too, but everything that I would be able to do is gone already. I was told that you only get a park ticket now if you volunteer during the actual half marathon on Sunday. For the expo shifts, 5k and 10k, you must earn 16 pts (hours) of work to earn a ticket. You do still get a shirt/jacket for every shift. It used to be that everyone who volunteered got a ticket, but now Disney has done away with that unfortunately. :sad1:

Thanks for the info. I won't be able to help out on Sunday, because I'm running. I'm not local, so the point system doesn't work for me.

I saw you over on the POR board. I'll be staying there, too. I debate if I should fax in a request, as we would like connecting rooms that are pool view. Pool view is a new category for our group and being unfamiliar with it adds stress. I've never faxed anything in and have always been place in a location to my liking. I see it as part of the magic.

Just want to make sure I am reading the rules right. My 10k time from last year, done in November 2013 counts for corral placement this year still correct? I am running one next week, but I may end up running with someone slower so I want to be sure I can use last years still.

Also, my friend hasn't run one. She is injured and thinks her time will be bad. I think she should run/walk it if her PT approves and just get a time. Anytime is better than none right? With no time she'll end up way in the back, I figured even if she walks and it takes 90 minutes it will move her up some right? Or am I just bring too optimistic?

I believe it has to be from this year, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong!

And yes...any time is better than no time!

That's what I would think but the website says the race has to be after February 1, 2013. That means my 2013 Thanksgiving 10k counts. But I'm afraid it's a typo. I never get an answer when I call runDisney, so I was hoping someone here with multiple years experience could help me. I'm running a race next week, so I can run for time if needed, but I was going to run with a friend having injury issues instead if I can use last years time.

I think it will count. My fiance had time proof from February 2013 (20k, so we had to send an email) and it seems they accepted it

The time I submitted is from June 2013. It was a minute better than my time this year.:lmao: I think any submitted time is better than a no time.:thumbsup2 That's been the plan for our group. We don't want to be in the last corral.

2 years back from race month, so feb 2013 or later for PHM. Thanksgiving 2013 one is fine. Mine is from October 2013.

Thanks everyone. I knew that's what it said online but it seemed too good to be true. Thanks for the reassurance!

Anyone else having issues with submitting a proof of time?? I just tried to submit my 10k time from a race I ran yesterday - put in my last name and birthday and it says 'unable to find anyone registered with name and birthday' found my husband and updated him just fine... I went back to the page where you can check to make sure you are registered, put in my first and last name, and there I was - but I am not showing up on the page where you can update time! I am freaking out out and hating the fact that I have waited until the last minute to do my 10k
