Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Well I have to say, planning for this trip is the most stressful I have attempted so far! With the fear of it being a holiday/race week and lacking discounts, I am trying to book dvc points but everything is very booked up for that weekend already, even at the 7 month rental point. I am looking at doing AKL and BC for the last couple of days and nervously awaiting confirmation they were able to get BC. *crosses fingers

On the plus side, I felt like Cinderella yesterday at my local running store getting fitted for some new shoes princess: <-- very realistic interpretation of me trying them on and strutting around the store

Reg pickup

I've heard you can't pick up reg for others.

Quick question about that.. What about the reg for my 5yo? Does he need to come to the expo with me to pick up his packet? Or does that only hold for other adult reg?

I've heard both answers. When it was first announced they were hard and fast saying kids had to come to expo. After all the parents blew up their phone and emails it was supposedly changed to 18 and up.

But I've heard recent calls saying kids too. Redonk. I'm going to avengers with 4 kids Grrrrr. Anyway I hope clarification will be made before avengers. If not I'll report back then.

Look forward to hearing what happens there. I only have one 5yo so it's not a huge issue to bring him, infact he might have fun doing it. BUT... I know I'll be quicker than if he is in tow.

I am looking forward to this answer. I had my dad with me this year at expo because he did the 5k, and he didn't want to look around. Was looking forward to having more time on my own this year, but if I have to bring dd(5k runner) it will be a quick in and out again. I'm going to guess there's a cutoff age where picture IDs are possible/likely. Otherwise how do they know what kid you have with you?

Quick update- 1/2, 10k and Glass Slipper Sold out 5k @ 85% Kids @65% Retreat @52% Breakfast @52%

Thanks for the updated numbers. I was wondering if the 5k was getting close to sell out. My friend who is running the 10k with me signed up for the 5k last night because she was afraid it would be sold out soon. I'm a little surprised the 5k hasn't sold out yet - especially since it's Frozen themed.

I am shocked, actually. I thought it would sell out day 1!

They won't know if it's your kid or not which is why I think it's dumb to enforce the kids picking up. I really hope that's not the case. But if it is I'll rent my 4 out to anyone who needs to borrow a kid for pick up. ;)

Just signed up my family for the Princess 5k - our first Disney run! We are also doing the breakfast afterwards. Are we allowed to stay in Epcot or will we have to leave and re-enter at rope drop? Thanks!

Does anyone know how you can get tickets for the event after it is sold out? Is there a place where people sell if they are unable to attend? Any info is greatly appreciated!

the race begins and ends outside of the park so you won't be able to enter until the park opens to the public.
Unless you have an early reservation for breakfast, then you would need your reservation number, time and park ticket to get in. They usually have one turnstile open for that.

Thanks for the info! I booked the princess breakfast through runDisney. Is that outside the park, too? It just says location: family reunion area of Epcot, 7-9am.

Oh that's different than the Akershus princess breakfast. DUH!! Sorry, brain is not functioning today. We had breakfast at Akershus after the 5K. LOL

I don't know where that breakfast is, that may be in the race retreat tent. You will probably get a wrist band or something in your packet.

Are there any runners using Jeff Galloway's method?
There are 5 of us going and we are all using it with different goals in mind. My goals are to finish and not puke. Others are trying to improve their time or get to a certain pace.
I'm a little worried about my body holding up between now and then. I was very disciplined until about 3 weeks ago and then life happened and I haven't gotten all of my runs in.....the longer runs are a killer in the heat too.

I am! This will be my second GSC. I have run every race for the past year with the Galloway method.

I'm using Galloway. I did his 5K app and am now on the 10K app. I experiment between a 30 sec run/30 sec walk ratio and a 1 min/ 1 min ratio. Just increase your distance slowly and don't push too hard. On his website, Jeff states that you can't run the long run too slowly. Good luck. I'm a very beginner runner and my goal is also to finish in decent shape. Actually, I would love to finish STRONG!

I saw both 5k and 10k apps are 3.99, do you feel they are worth it as opposed to free ones??

Very worth it. I have used all of the apps except the full. It integrates your music, you can choose the pace and the intervals, and you get coaching and tips from Jeff throughout.

Walked 2.6 miles this morning. I feel much more confident about the 5K this weekend now. I know I'll be walking most of it. I'm trying to work on distance and then I'll start working on running more. I do plan to follow Jeff Galloway's plan to train for the half. :thumbsup2
