Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

I'm a little surprised the 5k hasn't sold out yet - especially since it's Frozen themed.

I've not seen anything official from runDisney about this. A lot of reports but I can't find the source. Does anyone know if runDisney has said this is a fact?

Glass Slipper - Sold out
Half Marathon - Sold out
10k - Sold out
5k - 90%
kids - 65%
Retreat - 52%
Breakfast - 56%

Agreed. I've seen lots of rumors and unofficial blogs about this, but has anyone seen confirmation from rD? Also, is it normal to have a theme for the 5k differ from that of the rest of the PHM races? This is my first PHM so I'm cluelessly on this, but it seems like the theme would apply across the board to all the races.

Silly people wanting a primary source. ;)
That is what Twitter, facebook, and the boards are for. Unsubstantiated rumors!

You are right. I did read it somewhere that stated it like there had been an announcement, but I have yet to find one. Usually where there is smoke, there is fire with these sorts of things, but we'll have to wait and see! We already knew the theme for this year's by the time we registered, I think!

I've read on FB that it was officially announced by runDisney at a media event. I don't know why they haven't announced it online anywhere.

Does anyone know if memory maker includes photos that are taken during the race? Or is it only regular park photos? I'm SO EXCITED for the PHM I can hardly stand it! A little worried because I'll be training in Massachusetts so our weather here will probably be a little bit different than the weather in Florida...but I'll be so excited that I probably won't even care if it's hot and humid :-D :yay:

Hi all!

Since RunDisney doesn't list the host resorts I am assuming we don't know yet for the 2015 Princess, but I thought I would check here and see if anyone has any insider info...

Nope - marathon photos are separate from memory maker and are pricey. I carried a small point and shoot and asked the person behind me to take a photo and I took theirs. Phone camera is a great option too. I carried it during the parts where the characters are close together.

last year it was all resorts as well as Swan and Dolphin. It is a huge race so they will probably do it again.

Thanks! I figured it seemed too good to be true :) I'm running solo, so I'll just have to make new friends that can take my picture for me! My sister is making me an Ariel running costume, so I need to get lots of photos in it!

So this may be common knowledge but I called to book our room today and all I had to say was that we were coming for the PHM and they were able to connect me to someone in the sports department who could put together a package for us with park tickets and dining plans... Just thought I would pass that along since the general public can't put packages together until after July 30th and I know lots of you are nervous about not getting the resort you want.

I'm in Mass too:). I did the GSC this year, and was worrrried about the weather differences. Turned out that the weather definitely messed with my training, but I don't think the difference between climates messed with my race days. Just be prepared to alter your hydration if the weather is making you sweat more. At the race I finished and refilled at water stations the same fuel belt that easily got me through my longest training runs. It was warm and super humid this past year 97% humidity at the start. I suggest running once a week on a treadmill in a gym that's a standard room temp just so you aren't only training in the cold. I also have a VERY sensitive digestive system, that warm weather can mess with. I did one long run on the treadmill closest to the heat vent at my gym, and ate my fuel chews to be sure that the warmer surroundings weren't an issue. 12 miles on a treadmill is no fun though, can't lie about that;). Enjoy the training! I'm injured now, but can't wait to get going again:)

A few years ago after just moving to FL, I was weather cocky during my training. I assumed that the runs I was doing in "Florida weather" would help me out come race day. So I trained after work, in the heat of the day. Fast forward to race day. At 3:30am, it's cold in Florida-- I think the morning of the race that year, it was around 40 degrees. My body hadn't remembered how to run in anything under 70 degrees so I struggled pretty hard with the first few miles. My friends from MA, however? They were less affected by the weather at the start since it was warmer than what they were used to running in.

Just remember that if they're expecting a 3h30m race cap and the race starts at 5:30, most people will be off the course by 9:30/10 am. That's still pretty early and not always in the heat of the day. I'm by no means saying don't prepare for an 80 degree morning, but plan accordingly :) Your weather might be better for training than you think.

Most characters have cast members with them that will take your pix with your camera. If not the next person in line will help :thumbsup2

Honstly I've looked at RunDisney and I don't see ANYPLACE that it says the 5k is Frozen themed. In fact it looks a lot like last year's theme of Royal Run.

Share a magical memory in a Royal run

Here's a royal opportunity for everyone to share the magic during the Disney Princess 5K run through Epcot. Princesses (age 5 or older) and their families are invited to take part in all the racing fun on a spectacular course winding through Epcot's amazing Future World and then on to international World Showcase. The run wraps up with a memory-making storybook finish perfect for a Princess and her royal court. Beginners, intermediates, even experienced racers are invited to share the magic in the Disney Princess 5K.
