Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Registration was a pain but I got in! I'm registered for the 5k & 10k this year. It'll be my first run disney event as a runner. Can't wait. Now that the registration is done I just need the rest of my travel arrangements. Also hoping that DSis & co-workers all get registered as well since it'd be fun to run the 5k with all of them

The 5k is showing 75% full. Tell them to get registered.

Thanks for all of the welcomes! Excited to run with some of you, and cheer on the rest of you :cheer2:. What typically happens after the 5k? I'm pretty sure my husband and boys will be sleeping soundly at the hotel while I'm running, so is spending the rest of the day with them in the park a reasonable goal?

I went to DHS and MK after I finished the half this year! However, by 9pm, I was ready to call it a night!

More than likely the issue will not be your legs after 3.1 miles. It will be the 3a wake up call to get to the start line.

That is what has me most worried about the GSC, is getting up at 3a two mornings in a row, to get out to the buses and to the start line. For the other 1/2 marathons I've just slept on the couch in the living room.

Yes, exactly. After the PHM last year, I went back to bed for three hours. I think it was the best nap I've ever had! ;) then I went to Epcot and MK until 11:30 that night before dragging myself back to the resort. I loved walking around with my medal and wearing my "I did it!" T-shirt, so I didn't wanna go back! You should be fine to do the parks provided you get a nap or end the day a little earlier than usual. The miles won't be what stops you, it'll be that early start.

Good luck and have fun! :)

Absolutely! I've run a few morning 5Ks at WDW now... the 2012 PHM 5K, my son and I ran the race, hung around EP's entrance until it opened, went in for breakfast and a few rides, then went back to our room for showers and naps. Afterward, we were good to go the rest of the day. :thumbsup2

::yes:: True. I did all 3 races this year and the early mornings took their toll far more than the running did. The 5K morning was fine, and the 10K morning wasn't too bad. But PHM morning? I was toast. My brain just couldn't get it together. Longest 13+ miles I've ever finished, lol! And yet... I'm signed up for a repeat. ;)

Okay, I created a group for everyone that posts in this thread and wants to get to know each other better. :thumbsup2 Go here and request to join. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1481141492127530/

I've only joined about 20 (or more!) groups the past few weeks. :lmao:

I joined your group! I'm running the 5K and 10K this year...figured out my costumes... Anna for the 5k and Rapunzel for the 10K .... super excited, but have to get my butt in gear now!

I'm trying to figure out team names as well as costumes! I'm running with another couple and my DH for the 10k, but going solo for the 1/2. Since it's their first rD race, I'm trying to let them take the lead, but I'm antsy and want it figured out... 7 months out. :rotfl:

Luckily they know how I am. :)

I've been out most of the day, but have been trying keep up with requests to join. We are up to 32 members. Woohoo! Hopefully this will help us get to know each other better.

Just sent a request to join! This is my third Princess weekend. Doing the 10k this year after doing the half the past two. Wanted to try something different, do a different course & hopefully get faster.

What is the group called so I can do a search for it on FB? I can't do the link because I forgot my password and I don't log out from my iPad. Thanks!!!

I'm new to this thread. I've registered for the 5k and the 10k. My goal is the 1/2 (2016?) but these are my first 2 races so I better complete these before attempting the 1/2. I jog and hike. We recently moved but when I lived up north I hiked/jogged 6 miles a day (and we lived on the side of a mountain so it wasn't an easy hike). I was completing a mile in 12 minutes. But with the move and all I haven't been training for a few months (although packing and unpacking/getting settled is a work out in itself). I'm really excited to run these 2 races!

Okay, be gentle with me here cause, as I said, I am a very beginner beginner. ;) But I just did my longest walk and with my best time. 1.72 miles at a 14:32 pace. I even ran in two (very) short spurts, but I can tell I'm getting a little stronger! :cool1:

WOOHOO Sherry!!! Great job!

BernardandMissBianca THANKS for giving me some answers! I've felt so lost! This whole thing is so new to me! I have to say that I have registered for the half marathon and now the 5k and my room is booked! So it is all very real now! So now I just need to learn from all you Princess Pro's!

I think the FB page idea for this thread is AMAZZING!! We always have a FB group for Disney Cruises and it's such a blast to get to know everyone etc, and of course easier access with cell phones! I'm not too savvy with FB but if no one else volunteers I'm sure I can scrape some kind of page for everyone. But hopefully someone with greater expertise can hook us all up!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful time beginning or continuing their PHM training!!! :flower3:

Anytime!!
I got a lot of info from the DIS in the last few years planning races, Glad I could share the knowledge.
