Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Does rD move you up in corrals just based on having completed another 10k, or is it based on time? Just wondering if it's worth it to just do a local 10k, even if I'm not that fast, just to have a time and hopefully move up at least one from the last corral!

From the rD website: A proof of time must be provided from a certified race reflecting results after February 1, 2013.

•Half Marathon - 10K or longer

They give you until Dec. 1, 2014 to submit your proof of time for corral assignment.

My friend and I have been talking costumes all morning. I have mine figured out. I'm going to be Marie for the 5K and be a Princessy version of myself for the half. princess: I'll be the minty princess.

Will this include the Swan/Dolphin even though they are not technically "Disney" resorts? If not, can I grab a bus from BW, YC, or BC?

Or, is it possible to drive our rental car over to the 10K start and park in the Epcot parking lot?
Either one will work - grab a bus from YC/BC or BW, or drive. I recommend driving, if you'll have a car - it literally took me 10 mins driving to the 10K from CBR this year!

It's based on time. But submitting ANY time is potentially better than submitting nothing. Here's why: eveyrone with no proof of time will be seeded to the last corral. But there are always more folks without proof than can fit in that corral. So it expands to the last 2-3 corrals. So, in theory (and proven by a number of folks this year), even a slow proof of time will put you ahead of all those folks with no proof. That could be the difference of 1 to 3 or 4 corrals.

Awesome - thanks!

The first thing I'd do is contact runDisney to see if there are any more bibs released as the registration snafu clears up. If none become available, check with charities-- there may be a fundraising component, but it would be a way in. If none of these work your fiancee can defer a year and hope next year's registration goes smoother, but won't get her money back. I have seen a few bibs for events going for resale on a few sites, and have known people to buy bibs for runDisney events in this manner. Important to note is that Disney doesn't allow this, so if she goes this route it's at her own risk. Usually those giving up bibs (especially at the last minute) are people who get injured past the deferment date and want their bibs to go to use. However, this requires "picking up the bib for a friend" and having a photocopy of their license and signed waiver. I think this is why local people are having better luck selling their bibs, since they are showing up and picking up their own bibs and then handing them over. Personally, I would hate to spend the money and time training to be told that I wasn't allowed to run. I don't necessarily condone going this route, but after having to eat fees for Goofy one year due to injury, I selfishly wish this process was easier and allowed.

You can no longer pick up a bib for someone else. RunDisney has changed their policy and everyone has to pick up their own bib.

I just signed up for a 10k here at the end of September.

Noticed you're in PA - are you doing the Pittsburgh Great Race in Sept by any chance?? I'll be there! It's a really nice race and the last mile or two are all downhill into the city :thumbsup2 That's what I'll be using for my proof of time, so hoping to have a good race. The weather was beautiful last year, keeping my fingers crossed for this year :)

Yes it does. We are just lumped in on the Bus loop with BW, YC, and BC.
Last year I made sure I had my park ticket with me during the 1/2 and I walked back through Epcot to my room, it was faster than the bus after the 10K.

Did I read this right that you walked through Epcot back to the Boardwalk hotels after the 10K?

I was hoping to do that next year, but it looks like the park doesn't open until 9. With a 5:30 start time, I expect to be done before 8. Did they let you in with a park ticket before opening? Thanks -- Suzanne

I am so updet that this sold out so quickly. I've been planning on this being my first 13.1 and now I don't know what to do. Does it normally sell out this fast? Is there any chance this is a glitch and they will add more registrations? I have lost all my motivation to keep running since this is what I was training for.

Get with Jim stone at Acclaim! He is a Disney travel agent. I bet he still has spots!!

Hi everyone! This will be my first half marathon. I put 3:30 for how long it will take me. I know ill run it faster but since its my first one I thought that i was supposed to put that. Should I have put 3:16 to be not placed in the last corral or since I haven't run will it not matter. i hope I'm not in the last one now :(

Hello Princesses!

I just came across this thread (really wishing I had found it in February!) but I am officially registered to run the 2015 Princess Half Marathon, and couldn't be any more excited if I tried!!!

I've been a runner for a long time but a knee injury and surgery in 2010 took me out of the running game completely. It wasn't until just last year that I really found my stride again. It's certainly not perfect (I still suffer from a lot of pain) but I'm all signed up and on the road to completing my first half marathon.

I'm excited to get to know all you fine princesses (and princes if they're out there) over the next 7 months and to learn some great tips and tricks along the way. The hubs and I will be going down on Thursday before the race and most likely leaving the following Friday. This will be our second trip to WDW but our first time staying on property so I'm especially interested in all the race day logistics.

I hope everyone is recovering from registration day! Happy training!

Jewell

Yep! That's the one! :) I'm in Central PA, but have family in the 'burgh, so it was an easy choice. There aren't many 10k certified races around that time of year! I haven't done it before, but have read great things about it. I'm hoping its a fast course. My DH is going to run with me and try to push/drag me along to go as fast as I can! I'm probably going to be ready to slug him by the end!

I am not 100% positive of this, but I think if you have no proof of time, you're in the last corral no matter what you estimate.

They will spread people out in the last few, if they do it like last year. I estimated 3:15 when I registered last year, without proof of time, and was placed in M. I believe the corrals stopped at P. So, I would assume that a 3:30 time would put you toward the back.

Thanks! I haven't had to go this route myself (so thankful for early registration), but it's good to know that they've stopped allowing it. I'd hate to spew incorrect information based on things that were OK a few years ago.

I'm signed up too, my first 10K ever!

My friends who are doing the gsc asked what princess I picked and there wasn't an option for me to pick one, is that just for the 1/2?? I'm only running the 10K. Thanks!

The past few years, Disney races have been really gaining in popularity and selling out quicker and quicker. I was able to sign up for the 2012 Marathon Relay in December 2011, but that was the last time I think I was able to get into a race at the very last minute.

So no, overall it's not a glitch that it's sold out this fast (aside from the potential of duplicate registrations when Active.com crashed). I'd go with a touring group or charity if you really want to run this year.

I wouldn't give up hope just because this race this year isn't available. There are other Disney races, other years for PHM. Disney races are fun and worth it, but there are also other fun races in your backyard. I took a break from running and regret it-- it's been harder and harder to motivate myself to train when I do sign up for the races.

I'm doing GSC, and didn't get an option to pick a princess.

I am so with you!!! I have had this in my calendar as a reminder and looked at it yesterday, but between work and school, didnt look at it again until this morning... I am just heartbroken. My daughter and I had a blast last year, and i was stepping up for the glass slipper challenge....
to top it off, we own DVC and I just read and was reminded that I could have preregistered!!!

where is my HRT?? this memory decline is terrible!

good luck and happy happy day to all the successful registrants :flower3:

Thanks for the info! I didn't know how it worked. This year was my first and I submitted a time, so I was in I. I am looking for a 10K now for next year.

Me too. I am sorry for people who may have trouble getting to the Expo, but this will definitely cut down on selling bibs.
