Official 2021 Disney Very Merriest After Hours Thread

I've never been to an After Hours party either - but when you read about Boo, they had many nights that were sold out right? And none of the Merriest nights are sold out, or at least none were last I heard.

Im HOPING that its almost a walk on for every ride!!

Well I mean that's what people are going to be spending so much money on. It damn sure should be walk on or less than 8 min wait. The after hour events I have been to have all been minimal wait. Haven't been to one of the new ones though since restarting

Can someone please confirm for me that I DO NOT need any other ticket for this event? We will be there for one day and I have bought my husband and myself one day tickets. If we use them at Animal Kingdom that morning, we can still use the special event tickets for entry into MK that night, right? I’ve not done a hard ticket event before at Disney, but it’s my understanding that this used to work differently - that you had to have a valid park ticket AND hard event ticket. Which, if I understand this correctly, partially explains the difference in cost for what MVMCP used to cost.

Correct.

Your one day regular nonpark hopping ticket will get you into AK at park opening.

Your special AH ticket will get you into MK for the Merriest Holiday event starting at 7pm.

I've never had to have a regular ticket to attend a party. This is my first After Hours event but my understanding is that the current AH ticket is being treated like the former MNSSHP and MVMCP tickets.

is the parade and the fireworks show the same as what can be seen on a regular park day or are they special for the party?

There will be the normal fireworks show before the regular day guests leave the park, and later there will be special holiday fireworks just for partygoers. So if you have a ticket for the party, you can get into the park starting at 7pm and see both fireworks shows.

Thank you for that information! What about the parade? Is it the same?

I know I said I wasn't going to go to the party, but DH's friend, who's going with us, is very insistent on going and will be paying for our tickets (even though I will feel bad). We've been debating on just outright cancelling the trip for various reasons, but with having flights already booked, it being the 50th, and having never been during Christmas time, we'll still go. Since I'm planning on this being my last trip to a US park for a long while as I'd like to travel internationally more (Tokyo Disney Resort really is the best!) if things get better we might as well go and have a good time! Like others, we'll go one less day to the parks. The plan is to tour the resorts to see all the fun decorations, hopefully hit up Trader Sam's, and then go to the party.

I won’t go either as I don’t believe in paying more for less…but if you’re paying for my ticket I’m gonna have the best time ever with you :)

Should our tix for the holiday party show up in ā€œmy plansā€ on the Disney app? I don’t see them in there? Thanks

Looking at park tickets and Christmas party tickets during our stay and different options - random question: all things even as far as price and you could only pick one, would you rather have a Christmas Party ticket or MK theme park ticket?

I am struggling with the decision, mainly because we now have 2 older teenagers, and we no longer take advantage of rope drop like we used to and instead go later and stay later these days. Just curious what some others thoughts are that have considered the two options.

If I had two teenagers I’d go for the party, especially if you’ve been before. It will likely be less crowded and since they aren’t ā€œlittleā€ you don’t have to worry about staying out late. I think that seeing two fireworks shows in one night would be a good memory for them

I have a teenager and she loves after hours parties. She is not interested in rope drop now, so it works great for us as it allows her to sleep in. We sometimes do something fun like see other resorts during the day (or just hang out at the pool), then go to the party. We both love the parks at night.

We're planning on going to MK on December 7th, but not doing Very Merriest After hour party. Will MK be busier on the After hour event days? We still have time to change our dates...

I don’t know about during the day, but the evening will likely be busier because partygoers can get in starting at 7pm, so the fireworks will be extra crowded, if that matters to you.

We have two teenagers and are doing the Christmas party for our trip in November as our only MK day. They are both night owls, and we all love the park at night, so it's perfect for us!

I'm a little confused about 12/2. The party is from 9 to 1, and I can get in at 7. That day l, the park closes at 8. So what happens from 8 to 9? Is it just an hour wasted walking around? My main plan in going is short wait time for rides.

They need that time to clear the day guests out of the park. They’ll be checking everyone trying to get in lines to make sure that they’re party guests, and turning day guests away from lines after 8
