Official 2021 "Disney After Hours Boo Bash" Thread

You can be thrilled to go, but allow that others have concerns and their viewpoints are as valid as yours.

Where in my post did I call anyone on here invalid? It amazes me that on an opinionated message board we can't post opinions. Nowhere on my post did I say people need to be as valid as me. I was giving an opinion about what seems to be a major issue among Disney fans. I generally don't understand this board at all anymore. Thanks for trying though, @cakebaker.

Your comparison isn't even. A concert venue only holds so many people. And there are seats for everyone. And everyone who buys will get to "see" and hear the show.

There are concert venues with 50 people, and there are concert venues with 50,000 people. Everyone who buys a ticket to Boo Bash "will get to see and hear the show".

I'm done trying to defend my opinion, it's clearly not welcome here. On a message board. I'm sure my posts will be eventually get deleted by a moderator because someone claims I'm (god forbid) not following the norm. Apologies for those who may be sensitive to being on the other side of an opinion they aren't comfortable with. Truly, I didn't mean any offense.

A concert goer knows the venue capacity when they purchase a ticket. A concert goer generally has an exact seat location.

Disney isn't giving any real information. There is a big difference between what's implied and what is guaranteed.

Time will tell if the cynics among us are right.

I wasn't talking about you specifically for that one specific comment. But your entire post wrote off the concerns of those who aren't happy with the situation as though they asked for what they got. And I said that everyone was entitled to their own opinons so not sure where you're getting that you can't post opinions.

It is, of course, too soon to know just what kind of crowds we are going to see. But the signs are pointing towards a busy night. Speaking only for myself, if I'm waiting 20 minutes for POTC, 30 minutes for BTMRR, and 45 minutes for SDMT, I'm going to be very disappointed. Those three hours are going to go by in a flash. I know others have different priorities, but I'm not in it for the costumes and the trick-or-treating. I was much more drawn in by "Disney After Hours" than by "Boo Bash."

Again, I knew this might happen, and I assumed the risk. But I think I'm still entitled to be a little disappointed. More power to those of you who aren't.

This is exactly how I feel too. Was hoping for 15 minute lines maximum. The wait times you listed will lead us to be disappointed as well.

I'm not offended in any way. I still think your comparison is off.

I think anyone who thinks any event will not be crowded at this point is delusional

They are going double-time trying to make up for lost profits.
It's crowded there, it's going to continue to be crowded. I'm going into any event with the knowledge that it's gonna be packed and to brace for that. I won't be surprised.

We're taking a hard pass on this Boo Bash, which is highly unusual for us. We LOVE these after hour events. They're still working out the kinks. Plenty of people are so excited to return that it'll be as good as they want to make the experience. If you go in worried and panicked you're gonna be worried an panicked and have a bad time. Just pack your patience, take it for what it is and have fun.

I just voiced the same concern to my wife when she told me a friend was able to buy a ticket for our previously sold out date. I'm sure it'll be fine but our last MNSSHP in 2018 was very crowded.

No dissing Phil Collins! LOL

To keep Phil Collins "Disney" related, it would be cool if the Halloween Boo Bash had a Tarzan meet and greet. :)

Tarzan used to meet guests during regular park hours. I think I saw him in 2017.

Not sure if anyone else here watches or listens to the Dis Unplugged podcast, but the "gang's" consensus was that Boo Bash would be worth what Disney is asking, in part, because it was an "After Hours Event." I agreed with their logic and bought tickets for October 22nd. The wife and I hate lines and crowds, so it was worth it for us to spend some extra money to enjoy the park with less of them.

OK, so now there is some concern that there might be more crowds and wait times than in part After Hours Events, based on the fact that more tickets appear to have gone on sale. Given that we don't actually know how many tickets were sold, or what percentage of capacity that represents, I'm still willing to give Disney the benefit of the doubt. I just don't think they will be that "stupid" (for lack of a better word.)

I agree that Disney could exploit the demand and perceived value of an "After Hours Event" to sell more high priced tickets. But wouldn't that be kind of a "one time only" windfall for Disney? They will forever trash the perceived value of "After Hours Events" if they've turned this one into an overcrowded fiasco. I don't think folks like Pete Werner are going to let them off the hook. And he shouldn't. Nor should any of us.

I understand that, legally, Disney is perfectly within their rights to sell as many tickets as the market (and Fire Marshal) will allow them to, for whatever price people are willing to pay. But, that doesn't make it right. Disappointing your customers is not a good long term business model. Nor is trading on perceived value, while failing to provide true value: it works for a while, but eventually reality catches up with you.

October 5th is now showing as sold out again. I’m not shocked since it’s the only boobash within a week of the 50th. Which is why I purchased, hoping for short lines in what otherwise will be a crazy crowded trip. We booked at 11 months DVC window so we “lucked” out the 50th starts then.

Well, the tickets are purchased, and non-refundable. No choice but to hope for the best. I have to try to have faith that Disney knows what they're doing, and will not turn this into a nightmare by making it too crowded. MAYBE the first round of sales were based on physical distancing guidelines that are now a moot point, and so they added a few hundred more. Trying to tell myself that MK with a few thousand people is not a busy park...

So, to put a few fears to rest from my friend that works at WDW (doing numbers stuff), some of the tickets (not ALL but SOME) of the tickets that became available are because the system didn't update in real time when people transferred their tickets from one date to another. Much like when people cancel a park pass reservation and disney refills buckets, it doesn't usually mean they upped park attendance, it just means their system doesn't just dumpt those cancelled or moved reservations back in to the system. It's the same with the tickets, the have to go back and take a nother look. Like a family of 4 moved from one october date to the event before that date, but another family moved from that date that family moved to to another date.....and it's like musical chairs. They have to go through and take a look, sift through, make sure it all is accounted for, and then re-add them to the system.
