Official 2019 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend

Not a great run for me. I was shooting for a PR and possibly placing in my age group and fell well short. I would liked to blame it on the fact that as I was warming up just outside the corrals, they closed the A corral and I was forced into B and the very back of B which meant I spent almost the entire first 2/3 of the race weaving and running on grass to pass people. This being my first non marathon weekend event I guess they do the corrals differently. I had no idea I could be shut out like that. But that wasn’t the issue. The real problem was I just lost steam once I got to EPCOT and fell off my pace which I could blame on the heat and humidity or on the fact that I am not in as good a shape I think I’m in. Oh well, still finished in the top 10 and accomplished my goal of getting a tempo run in this week. Looking forward to doing a slow easy run at tomorrow’s half.

I’m sure they close corrals at the January weekend as well. I missed my corral at my first rundisney, 2013 TOT, because of a portapotty line and my own stubbornness to not change lines.

Top ten is awesome.

So pumped today, had so nmuc fun. First 10k....10k not a runner just signed up for this race in mid March and have to say i LOVED it. I had two things today, to finish ( which i had almost no doubt i could) and not be swept. I was nervous ablut being put in last corral and that's where i enede up but it worked out great, i got there before rhe opened and was in the first wave of my corral. Ive literally only been running since i sogned ip and had done only one oratctpr eun last weekend and i bested that by 6 minutes, it was all so much fun. Ended up with 1:12:34 so very excited. Didnt take any pics until afyer the finish liel. So excited now for the wine and dine!!

Eta i got my medal engraved at the end since its my first real race

Not a runner, last corral (what time did you put as an estimate?), PR, and a 1:12 finish?

Congrats, you’re a runner. :)

I mean, unless you’re a 17 year old male athlete-just-not-a-running-athlete. But otherwise... :)

Hey guys, can someone explain the “masters” category? I won my age group 40-44 for the 10K but see a person with a better time labeled under “masters” and only showing up on the overall results list. Does this mean I really placed 2nd in my age group?

Tough condition with the humidity today, looking forward to completing the challenge tomorrow.

Also, they usually pull the Masters winner out of the age group winners, i.e. they are not also listed a age group winner. So if the person who won Masters was age 40-44, then yes, you placed second in AG, but were bumped up due to that person's Masters win.

I'm athletic having been all my life so its not a tough transition to start running for me but no the only thing ive ever done before has been two 5ks last one being lilke 5/6 years ago for thansgiving, those fun morning ones. So yeah i guess now im a runner. I actually put 12 to 13 minute a mile since that is more or less how i end up in my morning treadmill sessions. Last Saturday i did my first but outdoor run since starting this craziness when signed up and did 1:18. But i assumed since i signed up on 3/13 (late and i only know cuz when the waivers first came out, the cutoff was 3/12 and i was bummed i had to wait for mine) that i would most likely get the lastcorral, but i listened to all the advise posted here about getting there early to get in the first wave and it worked, i had the ribbon right in my hands. So yeah supsu excited noe for wine and dine half. Also im a 38yo female lol

Congrats to all the 5K and 10K finishers out there, especially the first timers and/or anyone who didn't believe they could do it and best of luck to everyone running the half tomorrow. Work deadline means I have to sit this year, but I'll be back next year.

Has anyone had PhotoPass pictures appear from the character stops (before, during, and after the race)?
My wife and I see lots of pictures while running in Epcot and at the finish line, but nothing with any characters. (And we stopped A LOT.)

Mine just started showing up from before/after race. I didn’t stop on the course.

Does anyone know how to track the balloon ladies for tomorrow’s half? I know folks mentioned doing this during marathon weekend. I assume if I had a name or bib # they could be tracked via the tracking site.

My first couple just appeared! I knew all I had to do was ask on the DIS boards! :teeth:
I didn't stop on the course but mine just appeared from after thr race. I was nervous waiting for my ewok picture as that is thr only one i truky wabted. Of course it was the last to show up lol

Good luck to everyone at the half tomorrow!!

Weird question and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen people do it before but can girls wear sports bras to run in? It’s going to be so warm and I’m really leaning towards doing that

Go for it! We saw women in DLP running in real bras for their costumes. Not judging, but seriously, that could not have been comfortable :confused3
