Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

I just registered for the half marathon! I'm so excited. This will be my first run Disney event. How do you guys go about planning when to visit the parks? Do you go in the days before race day, the days after? The day of? Are the parks really busy during the weekend of the races?

I would really love a theme change to Villains instead.... it may also be the cost and the weekend (date) that's a deterrent.

But come on: the challenge could be Gaston themed, and you can pick a different villain every race weekend and have enough material for like, 20 years. :P

I'd LOVE a Villains-themed race! And like @Ariel484 mentioned as well, a Pixar one!

Anyways, I was able to register for the 5k this morning after registering for the PDC last week during AP early registration ... only one other person will be coming with me, the costs and the fact it fell on Mother's Day weekend were more than enough to make my other Disney friends say "no thank you" lol.

My group has Annual Passes, so we had to base our park-days around blackout dates. For the 1/2 Marathon Weekend in DL earlier this month, we were only participating in the 5k, so we arrived early on Thursday, stayed at the parks until about 6pm, then picked up our packets at the Expo and left to sleep early. After the 5k on Friday, we went back to our hotel to shower and change, and spent most of Friday at the parks ... Saturday and Sunday were blackout dates for us, so we made other plans.

All of the above! :)

I think you'll really notice the crowds picking up Saturday/Sunday. Weekdays are not as crowded.
I thought the @Keels birthday extravaganza was going to be the most expensive 5k. I mean, she did say she wanted to show everyone what her favorite race weekends were all about.... ;)
Good point!

Thanks for the replies!

Registered for the 5k and challenge! @Ariel484 would you mind adding to the front post that this will get me my *C2C*, please? Thank you!

And now to plan the trip! DH and I have never been to Disneyland, or even California! Can anyone suggest non-theme park things to do around that area?

I'm going to pretend like I don't see this. Just like I'm going to pretend that I haven't started a spreadsheet with costs associated with this trip and how to sell it to my husband.

I'll buy you a churro, so you can subtract $14 from your budget. I assume that's what a churro costs. :)
(It took me months to finally do my real sales pitch after chickening out numerous times so I don't fault you for doing the spreadsheet thing.)

And it looks like the 10k is now sold out

argh, wish the 5k was sold out too since I woke up at 8:50am (my only day to sleep in this week) to register lol

After some extremely creative budgeting and much whining to the boyfriend.... I'm back in for my pink coast to coast! Ariel484, thanks for keeping me on the front!

ETA: where do I put in that it's a coast to coast?
