So....let's see if I got this correct. If you want to book a second reservation, when FD drops, you need to use another MDE account and book it that way? You cannot book it under your own MDE account? Is this right?

Someone else said you can't book another reservation under the same name, so I've gotten two different answers.
One person has given you a different answer. Many people on this thread (not just me) are recommending you make a new reservation before you cancel your old one. If you do it online, it will be fine. I'm only suggesting it because I've done it several times.

Thank you Disneylover99 but I still have a question about how you do it...sorry. Do you have to do it under a different MDE account?

I'm wondering about this too.
I have a reservation with me as the account holder and my husband and daughter as the other guests staying in the room.

If I want to make a second reservation for the same dates (with the plan to cancel one of the reservations once we've decided which way to go) can I put my husband as the main person for that booking and then have me and my daughter as the other guests? Will it allow us all to be on 2 reservations at once?

Or will I have to create a MDE account for my husband and book the second reservation on that account?

I've always used my same MDE, same dates, same lead, etc....when booking online. It has always allowed me to do this. It's not like you're hanging on to two reservations long term. Most people will cancel online right after they've made the new reservation if they have the ability to do so.

Until last week I had two reservations booked for the exact same dates for the exact same guests...was trying to decide between a BB that I booked last Dec at POR and CBR with gift cards. I had both reservations booked through my main MDE account for about 3 weeks. Even called to talk to a CM about an issue with MDE and they saw both reservations and said it wasn't an issue. Only issue is tying up two separate $200 deposits.

We booked 2 rooms with the same MDE at CBR. We are a family of 6 plus my parents. 4 in each room. However our plans were that the 6 of us would be in 1 and my parents in the other. Be we got upgraded to SSR villa.

Thank you all so much for the responses to booking a second reservation, using your own MDE account. It sounds really simple to do it this way, then you don't have to wait to call when FD drops. And does the web site open earlier than 7 a.m. When it drops at 4 a.m. you can just go in and book?

I just use my Wife's MDE for additional reservations when I make dual trips for same dates.

So do you create new profiles for the family members or link them across from your MDE? Just wondering if one person can be on 2 different reservations so long as they aren't the person who created the res?

Did someone answer this? I asked about it but only saw responses about people booking 2 rooms for 2 different groups (ie a large family split across two rooms). But I'm wanting to book a second reservation for the same dates with the same people. Not sure if it can be done on the one MDE account or not.
:chat:

Edit: For some reason some posts weren't showing for me. Can now see some people have said they have had 2 reservations under the same name/MDE. Thanks!

Oops, forgot to answer your question. The website is open 24hrs. So as soon as the free dining offer goes up on the website, you can modify/change/book a new reservation.
Phone lines will open at 7am EST.

I answered you.

:offtopic: OT a bit.
I know black has talked about FD rumor, and I realize this is the FD thread, but has anyone heard an discussion about the RO discounts often offered at the same time? I know I can look up historic discounts, but with mods only getting QS change, I'm wondering if they're going to be changing the RO discounts as well.

I wonder how many people they will lose being yearly patrons if they take away the table service from the moderate resorts and then eventually take away FD all together? It is obvious that is the way it is going and better Disney analysts than myself have predicted this. Probably not enough to make a difference to the bottom line. Finding value for this trip is getting harder and harder for us. We cut our trip to Disney to 5 nights instead of 10 staying at WL. Then we are going on vacation this year to Paris at a beautiful time of year that is a longer trip than our booked Disney stay at a undesirable time of year. The short Disney trip is more expensive than our trip to Paris that includes airfare from Boston on a major airline. I love Disney and it is of course a totally different kind of vacation. The price hikes and reduction in value have done us a favor and we are starting to see more of the world again.

I am a Disney nut. We love going, We love everything about it except the out of control cost associated with the vacation. It is not a rant but I just wonder how many people who can afford the Disney vacation but are still concerned with overall cost are making the decision to walk away or significantly shorten the trip like we have? And no..we will not go to Disney Paris LOL.

Strangely the taking away of the HWS Christmas lights was really a bummer for me..we enjoyed that so much. It is the little things that add up as well to making the decision to downsize the trip.

At this moment I am at a complete loss. I thought I would switch to a moderate to try and curtail costs and now I can see that the deluxe may be our best bet since we will not do QS alone....which may be what they want people to do.

Either way we eagerly anticipate the dining deal whatever it ultimately is and figure out the best deal for our Disney trip!
