[QUOTE="Annam3, post: 57306683, member: 577220" When we got back we received letters from the district saying we could no longer take them out because 5 days is considered excessive absences. Unfortunately it seems the FD dates don't match up with any school breaks.

our schools sent out the same notice recently. only time we will be able to take the kids on a vacation are summer (too hot), Christmas (too busy), February and April vacations (too expensive). Not sure what we will do, no Fall breaks in our state.[/QUOTE]

Homeschool. That's what we do. :woohoo:

I don't think you can book them in one transaction at the same time. In my experience, you will need to book them one at a time but you can use your MDE for both. When I booked our 4 rooms, I was able to have 2 different MDE accounts logged in on 2 different devices which helped me to book them sort of simultaneously (as fast as I could click on them both, lol).

To book two rooms on the same MDE, you will need to quickly book one first and then book the other immediately after the first booking without logging out of your MDE.

There are things that you can do ahead of time to make it go faster like adding everyone to your MDE account (or linking if they have a separate account already). You can add your sister and her family to your account and make sure your account info is up to date with your credit card and address. This will save some time. I actually called Disney to make sure I had everyone added and linked correctly before FD came out just to make sure everything went smoothly.

I also recommend practicing booking before the promo comes out. Someone recommended that to me because 2015 FD was the first time I had booked online and it helped me be more confident. I just logged in and did a practice to make sure I wasn't giving the wrong information. You can practice going through check out as long as you don't hit that final submit button--you can cancel at anytime.

I also put in my dates before I went to sleep that night. Because the Disney site will often remember the last dates entered, I was ready to go in the middle of the night.

I hope that helps! Good luck!!!:goodvibes

You do two different transactions

Thank you!! That is exactly what I needed, step by step instructions! LOL

Free Dining is typically offered for slower periods if it's around usual school breaks it won't be offered because they know a lot of folks are forced to travel during those times.
I will have 2 in high school and one in junior high in the fall. We took them out last year to go to WDW during November. We arranged everything beforehand with their schools. When we got back we received letters from the district saying we could no longer take them out because 5 days is considered excessive absences. Unfortunately it seems the FD dates don't match up with any school breaks.

You're awesome!!!! Thank you !

There have been times you might be able to decrease the amount of days missed if you can catch the end of a booking period around a holiday, I'd have to go back and look but I think in December it might have been the 10th to the 20th or so if you check in on the last day of the offer you still get free dining for the length of your stay, then they might only miss 2-3 days?

I understand. I had to get step by step instructions when I booked multiple rooms the first time too.

BTW, when I just went in to check the steps, I noticed that it wouldn't let me select my sister and that I would have to call to update. I don't know why because it was letting me select other family members. I think it is a good idea though to always check to make sure everything is working and linked correctly. It won't matter for me this year, but I will call before FD 2018 if we get to go back then!

Good luck everyone! I will be excited to hear when everyone gets their FD. FD threads are the best for the excitement and all the tips that are shared!

For those with mild concern about mods being offered QSDP because that's what was on the link dirtysteve shared, you're probably worrying for nothing. I believe UK and Brazil have had QSDP at mods in the past, but USA still had DDP. It's not out of the question for Disney to change it; it would make good financial sense for them, but I doubt it.

I can't LIKE this post enough. I would go on but I would be so off topic I would need a map to get back.

No. Wait, what? I've never heard of this happening. What state do you live in?

Wait, I don't understand. This is crazy. What state do you live in. I'm in MI and we don't get fall breaks either. I have yet to come across this.

That is what we do as well. It frees up more time that the kids can be involved in extra things. I have five kids and a master in education...so it just seemed natural.

I thought that was the case last year, the UK had QS at mods and we still had DDP. I wasn't positive so I didn't mention anything. I am glad you were paying attention, lol!:teeth:

Only going for 2 days this september so no FD for me. Hoping for a bb though! Had so much fun waiting for it to drop last year I thought I would pop over and get excited for all of you!
There are reports that summer discounts are coming out tomorrow so may be the issue with the page.
Good luck everyone!
Hi Sharongal74! Hope you have a wonderful anniversary trip!

Talked to a cast member today about adding a new room to my ressie for CB and they said that since my original booking was with the $75 GC they would also give me a 75$ GC for that room as well. THat being said I would think that if FD comes out the GC would stay also but who knows

Maybe someone can help me with this...I have a res through a TA, but she seems unwilling to help get FD so I'm gonna try myself. I have an MDE account and all, but can I modify or get a whole new res for FD if my MDE is linked to this res held by a TA? TIA

Our school did something similar last year. We have taken our boys out of school in Elementary and I was trying to decide if we would take them out for our trip this year. We have gone in December before. Last year our school district decided to revamp the absence policy. It used to be as long as your child did not miss over 10 days of school you were fine. Now if you miss 5 or more consecutive days you have to sit down and have a meeting with the counselor. It might or might not be a problem since our boys are good students are rarely miss school but I did not want to deal with the hassle so we decided on the end of August. We will be back right before Labor Day and they start the day after.
