Official 2017 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend Thread

I've already signed up for the 10k through a travel agency =(

Plus I fractured my foot/ankle a few months back and am still healing so im not sure how well it will do for three races in a row.

Not a problem at all! RunDisney will let you transfer your 10k to the Challenge (for a small fee).

Keep coming up with road blocks. @courtneybeth will just have her good friend Mater knock them down.

I mean, doesn't the challenge medal HAVE to be Luxo? :) What else screams Pixar animation? UUUGH. I'm not sure this weekend is going to work with work, but I really NEED these medals. lol. I might have to borrow a niece or nephew to get an UP! medal too. lol.

I'm going to guess Luxo in the center surrounded by a bunch of characters.

Just signed my DH, my 12yo DS and I up for the 10K through GetSports. I'm so excited! I was tempted for a minute to do the half but I also have struggled with foot and ankle issues the last two years so I'm playing it safe.

This will be my second and their first RunDisney race. My DS has sensory processing issues and an anxiety disorder so I'm just hoping it goes well for him.

I totally get this! Over the past few years I have broken my left foot, had a bad sprain in my right ankle and then developed a pretty bad case of tendonitis in that ankle. I'm just glad to be running at all.

I mean it's so hard to plan a costume this far in advance.. especially not knowing how warm it will be that time of year... How was it last year.. BTW I'm in for the 5k and Double-dare! Can't wait!

According to Weather Underground the dates for race weekend have the following typical weather:

Mean Temp: 75deg
Avg High: 86deg
Avg Low: 65deg

Avg precipitation: Essentially none

Last year was almost as perfect as can be for that time of year. People who would have trouble completing the half were kicking themselves as the weather was unusually cool for labor day. Last year would be more the exception... it is more likely you are looking at high 70s to mid 80s as high... but during the time the half is going on.. i would say low
80s the last few miles for back of the packers

I was someone who finished in about 3:15 last year because I wanted photos and the last 5k was tough once the sun broke through the clouds. Weather was wonderful but the last 5k was very exposed. Wear sunscreen!!

Cannot wait for the 5k and Challenge!!!

So, have changed my mind a thousand times today on costumes - but I am thinking Bo Peep or Zurg for the half. Sully or Roz for the 10K.

I know. Zurg sounds awesome for the half. Or the Pizza Planet Aliens.
Wish Toy Story was the 5K because it would be fun to do Slinky Dog. But too hard to do that for the half.

Star Wars this year was amazing weather for running but I know it will be warmer that time of year. I finished in 2:54 min with 2 photo stops for my first half after fighting a cold all week. I thought I was going to die during the 10k but felt great for the half. I've not done 3 days of running yet so this should be fun! I hope the course it slightly different than Star Wars for something different! I just hope I'm able to move up in corrals. Does anyone know if runDisney looks at past finish times when assigning you to a corral if you've over the 2:45? I was in the 2nd to last corral for Star Wars and was definitely passing people the entire way at my pace. Thoughts?

Yea a slinky dog with you and your running partner.. I don't know if I want to be in the front pulling the back or the in the back being pulled... funny...

I'm so excited about the Pixar theme! So much potential for the medal designs. I'm glad I was able to add on the 5k to my Double Dare before it sold out a few weeks ago.
