The Kessel run medal is my favorite. I'll have to add that to the list with the pink c2c maybe they won't change it yearly because it is a c2c medal.

Ok after much debate my husband and I took the plunge and we are in!

Now, where to stay? Is transportation worse than usual at run disney events? I guess I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to splurge on an Epcot resort or if we'll be ok at Port Orleans. Thanks in advance for your help. And good gravy I can't believe we are doing this!

We have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside for pretty much every RunDisney race we've attended. I've seen no differences in transportation. The only day it might be a slight issue is during the half, but with the early start everything should be pretty much done before the bulk of people need to be anywhere.

I canceled my reservation at pop in hopes of some specials coming out soon and I find it easier to book online then to try and change a reservation over the phone when a special comes out. Depending on the specials I am debating on maybe caribbean beach or keeping my plan of staying at Pop. I know Caribbean Beach is a large resort but I want a great resort with a pool since we are going when it's warm and won't spend every day in the parks like usual. We are going in January and staying eat AKL and Contemporary so want to stay within a budget this trip. Any thoughts on pools and resorts for the race?

Question if we dont care about being in the last corral then we don't have to submit proof of time? The cut off date is jan and no way we can complete a timed race that fast. I tried to read the whole thread but didn't see info on that, you guys a marathon veterans ! Thanks !

Correct. Proof of time is not needed if you don't care about corral placement.

We stayed at Caribbean Beach in November for the Wine and Dine half and loved it. It's a large resort but we never had a problem with it. Loved the pool and loved the bar next to the pool even more.

We'll be staying at Caribbean Beach during marathon weekend, so I'll report back afterwards.

I've stayed at CBR a number of times, including for races, and never had an issue. I like the newly remodeled rooms, food court, and it's a decent pool too. However, if I had to pick a mod for a race weekend, I'd do Coronado Springs. The pool feels a bit more mature and relaxing, and it has the biggest hot tub on property. Plus all the bars and tropical feel is there just like CBR. They have some great AP rates.

I've stayed at CBR twice - and I have spent a lot of time relaxing in the little island area, sorry I forget what its called. They have very comfortable benches (swing type) and hammocks there. Hammocks in various other beach areas. And I've also relaxed at the "quiet" pool near my room. My teens sleep in, so it was a nice way to start my morning - tea and pastry, quiet seat, watching the birds. Only negative would be that in the past I've had mixed results on the hot tubs and main pool area - Last trip it seemed the hot tubs were always completely full in the evening with families and a lot of kids, less people during the day. Other than that I love the atmosphere of CBR.

Also I like that the mods have a small fridge. I'm currently booked at CBR, but will make the final decision when I can compare the discounts.

Thanks for the info. Large hot tub and AP discounts, that would be worth looking into. (I just got an AP!!!)

I'm still wondering if they will add any type of Star Wars themed party to the weekend. It seems that would be leaving free money on the table if they did not. I can't imagine they would have a Star Wars race and not have the Star Wars themed fireworks at DHS one of those nights. Right now, I do not see anything scheduled at DHS that weekend other than EMH on Friday. I know if they had some special Star Wars themed party for runners and their families with entrance to DHS say after 4pm on one of those nights, I would be very tempted to buy in.

Congratulations. I don't know either. However if they don't refund or ship and will allow someone to pick up for you, I could do that and mail to you. I am already going to be picking up some merchandise for another runner. They picked up a magnet early for me at Wine and Dine.

They definitely don't ship, but I don't know the answer to whether someone other than you can pick up your items. I had asked that on another thread, and was told they didn't think so, but no definitive answer.
If anyone finds out please post!!

Me too! I really hope they had a special themed party. I had a dream last night where they offered a SW themed party with SW fireworks, SW parade, food/drinks, character meet & greets, and access to select rides/attractions for $42. If only my dream would come true! I would definitely buy at $42, but I know if they do offer something it'll be at least $100.

I would call/email runDisney. I've read things on Facebook that runDisney was able to accommodate runners in similar situations, but have no personal experience with this.

Thanks! I may be able to run still but going to have to wait and see. Last pregnancy I was put on bedrest at 22 weeks after going into early labor so who knows.

Help - been to Disney many times but this will be a first for a race. My dd and niece are running the 5k, both runners but just getting started with Disney races. They have the bib and we booked at POR as I was told it was best to book at an official race resort.

Is this a good option - and if we can get a discount at another resort (AP holders and FL resident) is it really important to be at an official resort?

Also - I am not running but would like to participate - spectate - carry their stuff - cheer them on and just be with them as much as possible! Is there a spectator package I can purchase?

Maybe you could point me to a thread/website for first time runner families so I don't pepper you with those type of questions here
