Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

I've been having some shin pain lately so I'm thinking about getting some compression sleeves. Anyone have any suggestions?
I use Zensah because they target shin splints. Work like a charm. You can get them on Amazon in a ton of colors.

Welp. I want to brace you all for potential disappointment.

Got an email from a TA last night that they received more bibs for Princess Weekend and have into the weekend to sell them. As far as I can remember (which is just back to Disneyland Half weekend, so it's not THAT long ... but still), we haven't seen bib numbers before TAs have closed registration.

On the flip side - if anyone has been debating swapping from just the half or 10k into the GSC, there are still bibs available and you can likely get them without a hotel this late in the game!

I was just thinking they were running low on time to get things up. I'm glad anyone who didn't sign up will have a chance but disappointed because we may not get bibs numbers.

I don't get it- if they wanted to get the bibs sold- why is all the advertising on the runDisney site promoting virtually every race weekend EXCEPT Princess? Their banner is Tink and all the posts are about Disneyland or Star Wars. You wouldn't even know there's gonna be a race in February.

Man, they are dragging their feet. I get they want those bib sold, but this is frustrating!

I know these bibs are basically deferrals or returns from charity partners that couldn't make fundraising, but geez. If they posted the lot of them on the RunDisney site and put out on social media that they had extra entries, they would be gone in minutes. Plus, the deferral window sold out WEEKS ago.

Anyway. That's a rant for another day.

If anyone is interested in an ADR for BOG breakfast for Friday, February 19th @ 10:30 - party of 2, let me know and we can coordinate the cancelation of my ADR.

CM DD has received a partial event work schedule. Disney was very nice and she'll be able to run the 10K with me!:) Rather than be on the course for the 5K, she'll be at the Pasta Party that evening - hence our late lunch schedule change causes our BOG change.

Well, that bites that it's delayed getting bib numbers. So frustrating! And they would be fine in minutes if they just sold them directly.

BooHOOOO! I was hoping to see something before the weekend. I could use a little extra motivation these last couple weeks. :upsidedow

Boo on no bibs. But yay my shoes arrived! Same kind as my current shoes but different color- and less about 500 miles! Gives me plenty of time to gradually put miles on them before the race.
And FWIW- if anyone needs a distraction, the menfolk are having a really amusing conversation about chafing over on the Running Thread.

"Anything longer than 7 miles, I use body glide on nips, crotch, and cheeks (not face cheeks)."

I was looking on the results site earlier this week and it said something about up to date for anyone registered by 12/5/2015 or a date close to that. Maybe we will still get ours and they will update it later for the bibs still not sold.

You can try this (some runners swear by it): stand with your back against a wall, heels about 6 inches from the wall, and lift your toes as high as you can keeping your heels on the ground, and hold it for about a second. Do this 12-15 times before and after each run.

I believe the room coffee pots also have tea bags, if not ask at front desk or housekeeping for some. If you have a favorite from home, pack a couple and just run the water through the pot to heat up.

I think someone mentioned it, but pop doesn't have in room coffee makers. Same with other values except for suites.

They have RoadID that goes over your fitbit? I'm getting one. I was reluctant to have yet another thing around my wrist (speaking of, do people run the races with their MagicBands? Do you check them?) but I always run with the fitbit so I'll never forget the id!

I dislike the MB but I'll run in it. And the roadid. And my garmin.

For those moving, if you have cell phones, I'm not sure why the move is keeping you from getting a roadID. We can keep cell numbers now so that can stay the same. I have nothing on mine related to where I live.

Name, birthyear (so they can determine my age), DH's name and cell, allergy, and a silly quote. That's what's on mine.

I first heard of roadID through a friend on the DL boards. Her DH is a cyclist and in the first 20 minutes of a long ride he was hit by a car. I believe he was thrown from his shoes (for those who use the shoe ID) and everything else was thrown from him. Because of the ID she was called almost immediately. I'd had it in mind ever since.

Mine has my name (maiden and married), my city (why, IDK), my husband's number, my mom's number (because my husband screens calls or sometimes doesn't even bother answering) and then a silly quote.
