Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

I am from what I loving call the arm pit of South Texas. I am from Corpus Christi, along the coast. When I have traveled out of state, you would not believe how many times I had been asked that.
My best friend is from Corpus-! I believe she may have referred to it as something similar. I'm actually running the PHM with her and a bunch of her female family -all from Corpus originally- although now the she's in Austin and another is in northern Texas somewhere.
We met at school in Houston, and I definitely believe you about the stupid Texas comments. I'm from New England- when people found out I picked a school in Texas I heard all kinds of stupid.

LOL I literally just ordered a 24-pack of fruit punch Sport Beans this morning on Amazon. I like them, but I know everyone else has their own personal preference. I also like the cherry flavor, too, but I got so sick of those training for the PHM last year, that I wanted to mix it up a bit.

I cannot stand GU Chews - they're too chewy! I always feel like I'm going to choke. And I really don't like gels, they make me gag. I like the Sport Beans because I can pop a few, then reseal the packet and tuck it away till I need some more. I really love the cherry cola flavored Honey Stingers, but I have to be careful, or I'll eat them like candy lol. And don't even get me started on the Honey Stinger waffles. OMG. Those are dessert. I save those for my long runs that are > 1 1/2 hours.

I also have started using the Sport Beans and I really like them. I find them easy to pop a few in my mouth but have the little pack to reseal so they won't all fall out. They've been helping me on my long runs too.

My MBs were supposed to be delivered yesterday but they weren't and the tracking website said "delivery information unavailable". GRRRR!!! I'm impatient!!

So ... it looks like we might see bib numbers as soon as today and then waivers/corrals soon after that - so let's all just take a big deep breath and remember what we're all here for - to run and to have fun and to GET THAT BLING! Whether you're in Corral A or Corral Z, just trust your training and focus on the task at hand and I promise you'll have a great time!

For our first-timers - if for some reason you think there's an issue with your bib number or corral, be patient. There is very little you or RD can/will do until the Expo starts. Just print out any documents that might help your cause in case you need a change (screen grab of your PoT submission, printout of your PoT from a race site, etc.) and add them to your travel documents. Make sure your first stop after picking up your bib is to the Runner Relations booth. Be prepared for them to say no, but also be hopeful they will say yes and make a change.

Personally, I'm ready for a big glass of bubbly in the parking lot after the race.

21 days to go!

Everything I've heard about gummies and beans sounds unpleasant. Do people find them necessary for the half? Or do you skip the fuel?

Had to put my two cents in for fueling! Anything over seven miles, I fuel. In the fall of 2014, I bought a case of pomegranate caffeine sport beans from amazon which I loved. Now however, during my third half marathon training season, I am so sick of them! For really long runs (over 10 miles), I usually fuel twice, so now I usually eat half a bag for the first fueling and then I too have jumped on the honey stinger bandwagon. Their chews are so soft and delicious. And I love the waffles too, but only add that for 13 miles or longer. Anyway, for me I think it was a bad decision to by a big case of anything. Who know how long those sport beans will last me now that I have to mix it in with other types of fuel!

This is really good advice for me, thank you! One of my nightmares has been getting incorrect corral placement, so if it does in fact come true I will remember to chill out first!

Will we receive an email with our bib number and corral placement? If not, where should I be looking for this information once it becomes available?

I keep checking in here because I know you guys will be the first to know when bib numbers are out.

I don't start my weather obsessing until 14 days out. ;-)

It'll be posted here before runDisney sends you an email. :)
I should also mention that it will be *officially* posted on the Princess Half Marathon section of runDisney.com, under the Runner Info tab.

Thanks to everyone for all the great advice about fueling! I think I shall pick up some Honey Stingers and some Beans from the local sports store this weekend to try on my long run- and just make sure I hide some water along the route so I can take them properly and not gag :). Temps are supposed to be in the upper 30s Saturday, which is so, so much warmer than last weekend (14 miles in 10 degree wind chill and I thought I would never feel warm again). It was 40 last night when I ran and I felt like I was flying the whole 5 miles. (Also finished Season 2 of Zombies Run and holy plot twist Batman!)

For some reason these posts gave me that nervous feeling in my stomach. I know I submitted my POT, but am fearful of something happening and being placed in the wrong corral. I didn't realize I had that fear though until now!

That is one of my fears, they didn't like my POT....

Ahhhh! I wasn't worried about my POT but now I'm starting to! Really I'm just excited and curious!
