Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

A few thoughts for runners who would like to celebrate the PHM with a purchase, but aren't drawn to the Dooneys and New Balance. (Disclaimer: love running the PHM, but not a princess fan - always a Minnie girl.)

Harveys instead of Dooneys! Harveys seatbelt bags has the Minnie coin purse back in stock! Anyone looking for Harveys Minnie stuff might want to check back on the website.

Uggs instead of New Balance! I wear merrell zero drop/barefoot running shoes so those NB shoes have way too much cushion for me. But I LOVE uggs. The new Minnie Mouse slippers are perfect for post-run and very festive! (Bows are a little too big for me, so I just added a couple stitches and made them smaller.)

Also thinking I'll like the 19.3 hoodie from Raw Threads more than the official merchandise. I have a vneck "Snow" shirt, and I'm always thinking I might buy something else. Does anyone have a Raw Threads hoodie? Reviews?
I didn't realize Uggs had Minnie inspired slippers. I LOVE their slippers so I very much appreciate you sharing this! Thank you!!!

On TV this morning on TLC there was a program on DW Resorts. Wow it looks big!

Is this your first trip?

It IS very big. I knew it was about the size of my town, but I didn't realize there would be full highways through it with 50 miles per hour speed limits! I was picturing small roads at 30 mph.

Harveys are cool but sooooo expensive. (and heavy!)

For the Star Wars lovers out there, when you're at the stores in the parks and you're tempted by cute BB8 and R2 and Phasma purses...check amazon! For instance: http://www.amazon.com/Loungefly-Star-Dome-Bag-Handle/dp/B0142SRON6

Vs $80 in the parks. At least at Disneyland.

Sigh. I feel taken. Though I got my AP discount at least. And it's adorable. (brought it to the amazon post-holiday party last night; it was like holding a cute little baby...no one cared about ME, they just wanted to comment on the purse!)

Once upon a time it was like that! I remember going when Epcot had first opened but wasn't totally finished yet. We drove through orange groves to get there. There were no lines for the rides. We stayed in a hotel off property that I don't think exists anymore and there was one souvenir shop. That was it! Back then going to Disney was a huge privilege. Flash forward to five years ago, taking my son for the first time. I kept looking for the orange groves and couldn't find them! Now it seems like going to Disney has become a right instead of a privilege. I know folks who go almost monthly.

My Harvey's bag doesn't feel any heavier than my other high end bags. I just wish it was easier to clean. They are expensive but still less than Dooney or Coach. And more unique. I like bags that no one else in town has. I get the most compliments on my bag made of bamboo rods that cost me a whopping $10!

I was starting to get desperately worried about my training, but got in a good long run today, calming me down. First I was sidelined entirely from training for 12 days due to my dads medical crisis (not complaining about that one!), got a week of training in, then rolled my ankle causing me to have to take 5 more days off. Got in a run, then got a nasty cold which brought on my asthma. Grr. But today I got out for 9 miles, so now I feel like all hope is not lost.

I had a lot of time sitting on my butt this week, so I got to work on costumes. I have 2 out of 3, plus my daughters for the 5k all set, or pieces ordered and on there way. My sister can't decide about our 3rd costume. I told her she has to decide this weekend... Few hours left;)

My Magic Bands and Magical Express tags arrived last week making this seem very real!
I have made no decision on what I'm going to wear though. Am I the only one?
I know I will wear a sparkle skirt, and that I am comfortable in that for that distance. Just need to pick a color. And match a top to it.
Magic Bands stuck or delayed because of snow storm! Were supposed to arrive on Saturday, and now crossing my fingers mail-person will walk them up to and place between doors rather than shove in mailbox or place next to snowbound mailbox until I get home from work.

After shoveling my driveway both yesterday and again today after the storm, the roads were clear enough to run this afternoon. I only got in 9.8 miles and didn't feel I could do more. I came home and stretched and hopped in the warm shower... Only to have my body completely give out on me! Weak, shakes, and nausea. Never had that experience before, I had to lay in bed for 30 minutes drinking ginger ale for sugar and nausea. Guess I really did drain all my reserves!

I ran 12.5 miles on the treadmill today. After 60 minutes I had to give up the machine and then had to wait a little while for another to open up. The gym got packed! But after a little wait I was able to get on another machine and finish. I even jacked up the incline at mile 10 to simulate the on ramp! Right at about 12 miles I started to get that cramp where your lower abs feel super tight and it gets a little hard to breathe. I was able to run through it but it was pretty uncomfortable. I downloaded Shaun of the Dead to watch during my run - obviously inspired by all the zombie talk on this thread!

I put my name on the waiting list for a Harvey's Minnie Mouse hipster and about a week later they emailed me that one was in stock. It should be here in a few days. I guess I did things a little backward and rewarded myself before the run instead of after. I can't wait to get it. And the heck of it is, I would have never know about the Harvey's bags if I hadn't been a member or not. I don't know whether to thank you all or not. Haha. ;-)

Had a tough run today...drove 30 minutes to a favorite long run trail only to find it snow covered. Drove back to local park and got in half the distance I planned to do. The park's trail had a long area of snow cover but was clear for the most part.

And...our furnace quit yesterday morning. The replacement part might be in tomorrow or maybe Tuesday. Thankfully, we have a gas insert fireplace. It keeps the living room nice and toasty. The rest of the house is about 60 degrees.

On the bright side, the Big Snow Storm stayed about 45 miles south of us. We only had 2-3 inches of snow!

Yes this is my first trip to DW!
Trying to watch any kind of programs to see what it's all about. Looks like it's going to be hard not to get really caught up in everything and stay on my feet too much. We got a park hopper for 2 days. Arriving Wed evening and departure in Sunday afternoon. The fireworks look fabulous! Looks like I'm a kid in a candy shop! My husband will keep me under control. Not sure if the Magic Bands and luggage tags will show up. TA said sometimes slow through the border, but no worries if they don't show up the worst thing will be us having to take our luggage to the bus.

This is probably going to be a solo trip for me, my first solo trip to WDW. Husband and I love to go. I'm trying to decide whether or not to get the Weekend Breakfast and/or the Pasta in the Park. For those of you who have done these (and possible solo) are they worth getting?

I'm running for a charity who hasn't released their hotel information yet so I'm a bit anxious about getting that booked. There's less than a month out and I still need to call DME! :sad2:

Same thing happened to ours. Hopefully come in tomorrow

Count me in as waiting for mine to come as well. I got my email last Monday saying it was shipped, and I really thought it would be here already! I think I've been spoiled with amazon prime for too many years. Waiting more than two days for something feels like a lifetime lol
