Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

The Star Wars Season of the Force begins at DHS in early 2016. It includes fireworks... Fantasmic timing has to coordinate with the fireworks so maybe that's why they're not posting Fantasmic Dining until the schedule is set. The same thing happened last year when everything was held up due to SWW scheduling.

That is interesting info. Thanks. The CM did say that the Fantasmic schedule was not uploaded. It sounded to me the way she said it was that it was the show, and not just the dining reservations.
 
Ran a 10k at the gym yesterday! 11 min avg pace. Is it wrong that my treadmill workouts have been so good that I'm scared to go hit the open road?
I normally run slower on the treadmill. I think I'm afraid to feel like I am "locked" into the pace the treadmill is setting for me. :confused3 Which is dumb, because if I don't like the pace, I could just change it...:rotfl2:
Sorry, I headed to work after I called this morning. The CM I talked to said that she has no idea why the Feb dates are not in the system yet. She said that they usually are up already. She did tell me that they will update on the website at the same time for us as for them at the call center so just to keep checking.

Makes me wonder if they are planning some changes, or if Fantasmic might not be running when we are there. :-(
I thought I heard a rumor that Fantasmic will be getting an update with the DHS re-do. Not sure when that would happen, or if it's definite though. It's my favorite nighttime show at WDW but it could use some TLC, for sure!
 
Grr. I got Wednesday thru Friday all set, but not Saturday through Tuesday. We have a split stay and it used to recognize that and let me do the whole 180 + 10, but it is not now. I waited until 7 and called and was told they made a "magical enhancement" and it can no longer be done.

I'm glad you got an exception, but seriously, they haven't recognized the split stays in well over a year. Not sure DVC (where the change started) should be making exceptions since it really seems that's how it's supposed to be now.


Come on in! Closer to this, if you want to, we can maybe find a place to meet up and head over to the corrals together or what not. I don't know about you, but it'd help me to know that I 'knew' someone on the journey over. I hope that that didn't come off all internet stalkerish....lol

Many people have meetups! My only hesitation is my cousin, who isn't an online person at all LOL, apart from FB. Non-message-board people really question our sanity. ;) Which runs are you doing? I'm doing the 5K with my cousin and the 10K on my own.

We got fraud alert on our bank card- credit card not debit thank the lord- and I was dealing with that at 8am and completely forgot.....

Ugh. We just dealt with fraud on our CC, and now we have to get new cards, etc. No clue how they got our card numbers. VERY annoying.

I run slower on the treadmill too. When I go faster on the treadmill I feel like I can't keep up with the belt and I fall off. LOL! Outside the ground is still and I'm in total control. Outside, 5 mph feels so slow but that is my average on the treadmill.

@IrishMel21 what training plan are you using??

I have a 14-miler scheduled for tomorrow but recently threw my back out (and then re-threw it out...ugh) so I'll be happy with 10-12 miles. :)

Well that's interesting, because I've gone 3 other times in the last year, all split stays, and I've had no issues with doing it online myself at 180 days (from start of 1st resort) until now. There was a thread on the DVC boards about this a while back, winter maybe, and it seemed pretty evenly split to me members who could still do it and those who could not, with no common explanation as to why. I tried to find it this morning hoping someone eventually figured out a reason I could use to to fix my issue, but could not find it. The CM I talked to at DVC thought nothing of making it work for me, so it certainly didn't seem like an exception, just a common problem with a known solution. Interesting. Typical Disney, totally different story depending who you talk to.
 
Just finished making my ADRs. We got everything we wanted - including BOG at 8:00am on Saturday! So excited!:yay::cool1::banana::bounce::woohoo:

Of course, my sister accidentally made a reservation for today that she now needs to call to cancel. There's always something. :headache:

Nice! I hope I can find a BOG breakfast before February!
 
I think I'm the only one not doing the dining plan and reservations. We are just winging it. LOL! Since it will just be hubby and I, we can just do what we want, when we want. We haven't done that in 8 years!

Yesterday's run sucked! I got to the gym late because of a school function and I only had a little bit of time before yoga class. My legs were hurting from yard work on Thursday and my plantar fasciitis was acting up on the left foot and my right foot had something going on too. I was a hot mess as I hobbled into Walmart for more Icy Hot and then hobbled to physical therapy for my back.
 
My sister and I plan to head to TOTWL the evening after the half. We'll go to dinner at CA grill, back to the room to put the kids to bed, and then head over to the lounge while our parents stay with the kids. I'm hoping we have a room like we did a few years ago. We had a GV that spanned the 15th and 16th floor, so we didn't have to go to the lobby to get to the lounge, we just exited our room and walked 50 feet down the hall. Nice:) The last two years I have been to CA grill for dinner after the half and I would say both years the restaurant had at least 1/3 maybe closer to 1/2 the tables where at least one person had a medal. It is cool to see!

Maybe I'll go ahead and do the Cali Grill that night after all. I won't be at a table, I'd feel really out of place taking up a four top along the window by myself, but I'll probably sit at the bar. If they still have that. I haven't been up there since they did that 6 month closure for refurb about 1-2 years back.

TOTWL is totally a go for me!

I don't use FB/Twitter at all anymore. Once I finished residency, I turned my account off. Well, I did it while I was looking for a job- too many people will hunt down your FB these days when you apply for a job. And then, once I had one, I realized too many of my patients were trying to look me up on there. My account was fairly secure; 'friends only' (not even 'friends of friends'), but it started to kind of squee :crazy2: me out how many of my patients would mention to me they'd looked for me and couldn't find me. So I turned it off completely.

I don't know how they got this particular CC number either. We use it but it's usually for big purchases like my zero runner that we got earlier this spring or for hotel stays etc. The past 6 charges take us back into the April statement to give you an idea of it's use. But, I had used it to reserve my mifi for Japan and for holding my hotel ressies at HKDL and TKDLR. The fraudulent charges however, were in GB. I was in London last year and might've used the card there. But this part of GB was like 2 hours away from London for a hotel. I'm just glad not to be dealing with this while I was in Hong Kong or Tokyo. The limit on the card makes it the one we'd use if we say needed to fly home urgently or what not. And they shut the card down automatically when they suspect fraud. Imagine being in Hong Kong and trying to deal with that mess. *shudders*

What's worse is I feel like (not that I'm saying they're related) since the Target/Home Depot breach that year; we get hit with fraud on a card at least every 3-5 months. This year alone this'll be the 3rd time I've had to deal with it. Not to mention, our travel agent used to partner with cruise planners and THEY got hit this year too. So between replacing cards that were breached from that- and then random times this year; I'd actually say that I've had to replace 90% of the cards I carry this year. Different cards/companies, but it's really getting old. If I knew where my leak was, I'd either stop shopping there or pay cash, etc. I just can't figure out where the damage is coming from.

so of course today I wake up feeling like I haven't slept. Am supposed to do 8 today. The way I feel? I'll be lucky to get 3. Gonna do it because I have to- but I certainly don't want to. And that's a terrible mentality to have going into a run.....

Good luck and keep your mind open to the run turning around. A few weeks ago I was in the same place as you heading out for a run. Somehow, despite feeling horrific the first 3 miles, as I got to 4 I felt so much better physically and mentally, I didn't want to stop when I hit my distance for that day. Every now and then a run is the perfect medicine for an out of whack body and life stress!

What?? Winging it at Disney?? o_O To be honest that sounds lovely!:hippie: I love planning a Disney trip, but sometimes it does hit me how ridiculous it is to plan every hour (between dining and FP+) of a future vacation!

This exactly! I often start a run saying, "I am JUST doing three miles and I'm going to hate it!" But after I get over that three mile hump, I get into my running grove and end my run thinking why in the world did I think about not doing that?! Now granted, sometimes my whole run drags, but that actually happens far less than the amount of times I start a run thinking it's going to suck.
