Kinda scary seeing so many people (elite runners even) talking about how hard the full was today in 70 degrees and 100% humidity.
I had not thought to plan for rain...hmm need to buy some ponchos.
I bring three pairs of shoes, and a ridiculous amount of clothing. I will run in pair #1 for the 5k, then change to pair #2 to walk around in that day. 10k will be pair 3, then back to pair 1 for touring. Half will be pair 2 for the run, then back to #1 again for touring. It also gives me flexibility if runs are wet. If the forecast is particularly wet before I leave, I will likely bring a fourth pair. My husband thinks I am crazy Or, I may just pick up a pair of those Ariel shoes... I need to go try some on else where. I love the colors, but I am pretty particular about shoes.
As
@pixarmom said, the weather has been all over the place. I too suffered through the humidity of the half in 2014, but thought the 10k weather that weekend was perfect. 2015, 5k was miserably cold, because I didn't have the right stuff with me (and for reference I'm just back from a 14 degree run so cold is what I'm used to). 10k started cold, but was perfect by the finish, and the half was great all the way for me. This year I will be sure to have my fleece headband and running gloves as well as smart wool socks. But, all my plans for costumes are based on warmish weather, that way I can layer stuff under if I need to. And don't trust forecasts. I didn't have cold weather stuff because when packed the forecasts were quite warm. But I went down the weekend before the race to visit family for a few days before Disney, and the the forecast changed a lot over those 7 days. So, in my opinion, look at the forecast, but bring things to layer if need be, even if it looks unnecessary.
I am managing to get back into training after all the time away due to my dad's illness. Got in 7 miles for a long run Friday. This weekend we are headed waaay up north in Vermont for skiing, so I need to get my run in before that. Maybe Thursday. The weather has sadly actually become more real New England like, so its going to be cold. The treadmill ban from my physical therapist will be harder to cope with now.
