Official 2016 HHN-26 Thread

I'm thinking that she may be part of the scare zone? Like maybe have her up on a platform with a megaphone or something egging people on, and then have actors as her in the house to scare people, that way you get the best of both worlds. Or at least that's what I hope.

Just to let you and everyone know, Academy of Villains is not a UO original, it is a dance troupe that uses horror-themed costumes and music. Kinda like how HHN Hollywood had the Jabbawockee dance crew last year. You can find videos of them on YouTube.

Jabbawockee show was nothing to write home about. Hope Academy of Villians is better.

I am going to my first HHN this October. What exactly is a Scare Zone? Is this just an area that people walk through and it is themed a particular way and that there is some interaction with the scareactors?

Scare zones are a themed area in different sections in the park

They are just walk thru areas

There can be interactions between park guests and SA

The SA stay in one section and do not roam outside of their areas

It varies each year of how they interact with guests

Could be a chainsaw revs behind your back or stare down at you , make a loud noise behind you for a startle effect or just having the SA make simple scares at you
Varies each year

They will pose for pics if they want to as they will not break character

For a look at what the Scare Zones are - as well as an idea of the Stay & Scream looks like, take a look at this video by the Trackers.

Much of it was filmed during the day, and the nighttime 'feel' of the Scare Zones is VERY different. But the daytime videos are easier to see and give a better idea of the overall theming. Towards the end of the video, it transitions to night.

I'm looking into going on Sunday, October 16. Have the hours been released? I saw somewhere that the hours would be from 6:30pm-2am but I wasn't sure if that was true for Sunday nights as well. Would it close earlier on Sunday?

We're staying through Monday and would like to stay as late as possible to try to fit everything in to one night. I'm considering the 8pm RIP tour so we would have time to do the Stay & Scream, ride Gringotts, see the scarezones in daylight and then do the tour possibly with time to see our favorite house again afterwards.

Just trying to guarentee I will see all houses and Bill/Ted show

The other nights I will be going will be able to do all houses too but with some waits

We will be at IO during the day before attending HHN that same night. What time should we take the Hogwarts Express to UO? Do we have to be in the holding area by a certain time?

Leave ioa by 4:30 on the HE to the studios
Last year potter at the studios was open to about 10:30. ?

Also last year one of the holding areas for Hhn was in the front of potter

At 5 in the studios the park closed

Those in line rides were allowed to finish it but leave the park if they did not have the Hhn ticket

Those that did he the Hhn tix were sent to a holding area after the finished a ride

Thanks for all the great info. I took a snapshot of your response so I won't forget this on Oct 12th when we attend the party. I love all the amazing information that you and others provide here, I would be lost without it.

Does Express pass allow you to see the same house more than once? And does anybody know how much the express pass is per person on the night of oct 19th? i cant find it anywhere.

I'm trying to decide if I want to go to HHN or not this year. I love horror films, however I struggle with people jumping out at me which is often the basis of the scares in HHN. I have been twice before, and I greatly admire the craft, creativity, and artistry put into the better houses. I was a particular fan of the Cabin in the Woods a few years ago, however I nearly had a panic attack in the final elevator stretch. That being said, I'm thinking of taking the dive again this year (with the aid of some xanax) because I loved the film Krampus and desperately want to see that house. What do you think? Any advice from those who struggle with the scare factor of the houses but still decide to go and see them?

they will be annouced and will be marked on the hhn map

last year it was by the main universal store, potter entrance ( the area leading into it), finnegans area, simpsons area

that is what i remember, if there were more, i don't recall them.

Agreed - what's above. Houses will be -

Hollywood - Exorcist, AHS
New York - Walking Dead, Ghost Town
Diagon - Chance, Texas
Springfield - Halloween, Tomb

The scareactors supposedly don't interact with those who stay on sidewalks.
If they smell fear it's akin to sharks and blood in the water wheeee

Find a tall person and lurk behind them. Stay in middle of pack, behind screaming herd of tweens is good as they tend to get a good portion of attention

I really love to get scared and startle easily. Not hard to tell when I am as i get an uncontrollable nervous laugh. Guess ud could call it a coping mechanism. Couldn't stop if it I tried.

Hhn is perfect for me as I know it's a safe environment, even tho I'm out of my comfort zone. My DH and friends are used to me by now but I'd imagine it could be off putting. What can I say, it's how I roll

I've seen grown men run, cower, some even wind down on the floor in fright. Everybody will laugh 'at' that person as its part of the show, but it's all good natured and in the spirit of the event.

I'd think a very sensitive person would truly be out of their element. If it becomes work, then it's no longer fun kwim?

Good luck

Janet can very much attest to the fact that I am a screamer at HHN, lol.
