Official 2016 HHN-26 Thread

Well, I loved Murder House......hated Hotel............and Freaks.........well, it really freaked me massively out so not looking to that one...........

Random Question for HHN Vets:

Is the Green Eggs & Ham restaurant typically open during the HHN season?

For a good long while I had assumed the restaurant had closed permanently, but upon researching... As I understand it, Green Eggs & Ham opens and closes seasonally these days. Sort of at Universal's whims/with the crowds. I used to love Green Egg & Hamwiches, but never seem to be visiting at the right time to catch it open anymore, and haven't had one in like 10 years. (Mostly, I assume, because they open it during peak seasons, and I make it a point to visit during Non-Peak seasons.)

ANYWAY, Fall isn't typically a time I visit, so I'm not sure what the lay of the land is. This will be my first trip back in the fall since HHN 15, 11 years ago. Honestly not expecting it to be open (I learned not to set myself up for that disappointment years ago, haha) but will be pleasantly surprised if it is.

We typically go in the Fall (October) and it's never been open.

I loved Murder House!! I wish that was the whole house, but still super excited. That clown from Freak Show is going to give me a heart attack.

Glad to hear AHS has gone from rumored to confirmed. This is the first IP this year I'm actually excited about (and considering there are a half dozen, that's saying something).

I enjoy both Halloween and The Walking Dead, so I look forward to both, but they're both repeats to at least some extent, so neither really hit me with a huge rush of excitement or surprise.

I've never seen Exorcist or the original Texas Chainsaw. Blasphemy, I know, but it is what it is, so they don't leap out at me much. Seeing both is on my to-do list, but I don't know that I will before I go, I just don't often think to myself "It sure is a good night to curl up and watch a horror movie alone" haha. I should probably make it a point to. Haven't seen Krampus, nor do I want to really, and while the Christmas theme could be interesting, it could also just as easily feel out of place.

Also, just in case, anyone doing an UTH tour: just got an email that check in will be at the Blue Man Group theater this year. You should be receiving an email, but if for any reason you missed it, now you know! :)

Anyone have an idea (ballpark idea) how busy Wednesday Oct 12 will be? I'm assuming not as busy as a FRI, SAT, or SUN but this is my first time doing HHN and just want to get an idea. Thank you all for your help!
That is one of the nights I will be at Hhn

From what I see on their sites , it will be ok crowds and lighter than the other Hhn nights

Wednesday is usually a light night for hhn
During the day in the parks don't expect much in crowds

I listed the heads uo in the Hhn stickies already as there are some booked for UTH tours

I got that email after midnight

Ok so I havent been to HHN for the past 2 years . Previously i would normally go on Columbus day weekend on a Sunday with an express pass. I think I was able to see all the houses and go on a few rides and one year I saw both shows . i just moved to FL this year and my brother really wants to go to HHN, but I am pretty sure he can only get off work the last weekend on October. So I am stuck with going either Sat the 29th or Sun the 30th. I can imagine that the weekend of Halloween (well Halloween is Monday) is going to be the most crowded weekend of them all. Is there really a difference if I go that Saturday night vs Sunday? Which night would be least painful experience crowd wise? haha I would like to see all the houses if possible but can skip 1 (and my skip will be the exorcist because I am terrified of that movie lol)

I am also considering going to Universal that day so we can be in the holding pen, however I am not sure if my little brother can afford additional tickets. I was planning on buying Uni annual pass, but I am waiting for my husband to permanently be in Florida, he is still up north and not expected to be here until January. We have an 11 month old so its not like I will be bringing him to universal another day until he is here, so I feel that if I get an AP now it would be wasted for 5 months. So I dont know if its really worth it for all of us to buy park tickets for that day (minus the infant he will be with grandma & grandpa for the day)

How does the EP work for HHN? We are planning to go on Oct 9. We may go to the parks during the day. If we purchase the EP is it valid for the day time and HHN or is there a separate EP that needs to purchased especially for HHN? I can't seem to find this info anywhere so hoping someone here can help. I'm a first timer obviously! Thanks!

You have to purchase it separately and it's only for HHN. But you can use it on rides that are open as well as houses. Info should be on the website where you buy HHN tickets.

Are the holding areas the same as before for this year? Anyone know the time frames for the holding areas? When we have to enter and when we can go?

I was going to make a Finnegan's reservation if the areas are the same.

Hotel EP is not valid for HHN at any time.

HHN is a seperate hard ticket event. You can buy EP on the night you go or buy off the HHN website.

If you go to the parks during the day you can buy the add on that is known as Stay and Scream. You stay in the holding area and are released earlier than folks queuing outside. They are let in around 6.30pm.

We have had 2 houses done usually with Stay and Scream.

Rumor is they're not doing any reservations for Finnegan's for the Stay and Scream time periods any more. Apparently there were too many hassles. IDK.

Yep, it was a nightmare for them previous years.........haven't heard they are taking reservations this year. We were told it was a thing of the past from last year.

Wait wait wait wait wait... I need some clarification on your phrasing:

You said, "Buy the add on that is known as Stay and Scream" which makes it sound like a separately purchased addon.

I thought anyone with daytime park admission as well as a HHN ticket was eligible to enter the Stay and Scream holding pens? For example, I have an Annual Pass, which I plan to use to enter the parks during the day, and a Rush of Fear pass I was planning to use for HHN at night. It was my belief (up to now) that I should be able to enter the holding pens and stay in the park without any additional purchases.

I believe stay and scream used to be an additional charge, but it was my belief they'd done away with that in recent years, and anyone with a ticket to both events was eligible to stay in the pens (provided they enter the park before the cutoff time). Could you please clarify?

You are fine with your day ticket and HHN ticket.

Your AP gets you into the park

Your Hhn ticket allows you to stay in the park and wait in one of the holding areas when the park closes at 5

When you enter a holding area, your Hhn tix is scanned

For those inside finnegans before the park closes, TM will scan your Hhn ticket and put a wrist band on your wrist
This allows you to stay in the holding area after you are done eating at finnegans

Those that do not have the Hhn tix will be escorted out of the park when done eating there

Add on ticket is a term used for Hhn
It signifies you bought the discounted Hhn tix based on having bought a day park ticket
AP included in this deal

Heck they aren't even taking reservations for more than a week out on the Universal website right now. I don't think they're even doing a week out.

Great, thanks! I was looking just at the Universal Orlando tickets page, I will look specifically for HHN page.
