Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

Hi All, My name is Jan and I am registered for the Disneyland Half. I did the Avengers Half, back in November of 2015, and did not finish so my goal is to finish this time. I look forward to reading about all the training and race journeys!

We are staying at the Quality Inn and Suites. I have stayed there twice before. Once with my husband, back in 2009, and with my dad and mom back in November 2015. It is a bit of a hike to the parks but not too bad.
Would love to stay on property but it isn't in the budget this time around!

Good luck!

Advice: Plan out your costume...and then if you have time try and get a little running/training in!

Ahh! I hadn't even though of a costume! It's Country Bear theme.... I'll need it think this one out!

Furry arm sleeves and a Bill of Rights shirt ==> the right to "Bear" arms?

Or strap a couple of stuffed animals to your biceps and you have the right to arm bears!

so if we anticipate a finished time over the 2:45 do we still need to submit proof of time? If I think i will finish in 3:05 can I just leave that time box checked or still need to submit? I swear I go through this with each rD race but I think this is a new change with the only being required if under 2:45

I am getting excited! DVC was able to get us a TPV room at PP as I was wait listed for GC and had a backup off site reservation. So happy to be much closer to the corrals now :)

I think it's always safer to provide proof of time no matter what. So if you have one, do it. Unless you don't care if you get placed in the last corral. I just think they are not going to verify it unless it's under 2.45. But that's just my opinion.

I've been told that we should always submit a POT, even if it's not required so that it'll put us in the proper corral. If it's blank you will be put in the last corral.

At Princess, I walked to the corrals with a Mom and Daughter that did not submit PoT and were slotted in J and K, based on what they put as their estimated finish time. My cousin submitted a slow PoT and was slotted in M based on the time she submitted.

My sister has changed her mind about coming with me. Since I will most likely be traveling by myself, I was thinking about changing my reservation to stay on property. Who are your favorite (trusted) travel agents for DL?

Edit: I just checked the link through RD and there are still rooms available, so I went ahead and booked. Somebody tell me I am not nuts for paying $100 a night more to stay in the center of everything since I am traveling solo this time. (Actually, since I am not longer splitting the cost, it is way more than that, but I refuse to to acknowledge that.)

I stayed at Paradise Pier for Tinkerbell Weekend and I LOVED IT. It was totally a game-changer! I'm hoping that maybe rooms are still available about a month out and I can make the move to an on-site hotel. We literally walked out of our hotel and were at bag check and corrals. It was amazing.
