Yes, our carriers are sure impressive! As others mentioned we have two as museums, in NYC and San Diego, if you are ever in the area of one, it is very neat to check out. Even other small ships like destroyers they have many throughout the United States as museums. Also some submarines as museums, mostly all diesel WWII though.
Today I was looking up statistics of our (US's) carriers compared to a decent size cruise ship. A carrier and cruise ship are about the same length but the carrier is over twice as wide! And, think of all the exciting entertainment you have on a cruise ship. Not as much as on a carrier even though the larger size. They have gyms, you could golf off the back of the carrier (with bio-degradable golf balls), basketball on the deck. And, you could turn the surface into a running track when not needed for operations. One lap around is 1/4 - 1/3 of a mile (400-500 meters). For people on it, when you combine passengers and crew for a decent size cruise ship you are looking at the same number of people on an aircraft carrier.
