This is the best place to get info the girls have always kept me up to date. Don't worry about RunDisney keep your ear here. As long as you have your Waiver you are good to go.
This is a great run ! You will have fun! Congrats on your first RD.
Brilliant! Thank you so much for the speedy reply. Happy with what I found. :)

I'm in D but I missed C by less than a minute. That's okay though since most of my friends are in D so I would be going back there even if I wasn't.

You all are a quite group...It's time to get excited!
I finished my 12 mile long run this morning...crazy run...never felt like it was going well and had to get out of my head a few times, but somehow it was faster than my 12 mile LR before the Princess half. :flower:

So how is this course going to be...I know it is new, but there looks to be several overpass "hills"...let me hear what you think.
And how am I going to get to the start? I may have to figure that out once I get there. I am staying at the Portofino Inn.
Any veteran runners or locals feel free to help out this East Coast girl. I did grow up in Northern CA and DL was my first Disney experience way back in 1966.

Yay for faster LR!

You're right, the hills are are only overpasses and not bad at all. They're all clustered at the start, but they're really short so it's not bad. To get to the start, b/c we have to go through security now at the staging area, I'd just take the shuttle and walk down DTD to the staging area. The shuttle's free all weekend to runners, so all you have to do is figure out which route number is going to the parks and your hotel, tell them you're running and they'll give you a pass for the weekend.

Where in NorCal did you grow up? I'm in San Jose.

Hey guys, for those of you who've done Tink (or another DL race) how is the expo compared to WDW? Is it more crowded? Less? Does stuff sell out just as fast? I'm trying to get an idea of how much of my day I should plan to set aside for it.

I looked the past course on Map my Run and the course is relatively flat - it's not this year's course, but maybe this elevation gain will give you insight into what to expect. 60 feet of elevation gain is not much!

Most of your elevation gains will be on the street of Anaheim - Disneyland/California Adventure is mostly flat if you zoom in and look at your Y axis.

It's smaller than WDW and less crowded b/c less runners. If you go to the expo Thur, and maybe Fri morning, at opening, you 1st line up in a separate room and they let you in in batches into the merch store. It was crazy Black Friday for Dumbo the 1st year so they changed to this way. It's nice b/c you can walk around the store and not be trampled and if it's warm outside at least you're in line in an air conditioned room. Once the crowds die down later in the afternoon, you'll be able just to walk in. I usually go there before bib pickup which is downstairs in the underground parking area. Stuff does sell fast but the upside is it's not a sell out race so a few less people. I went at 7pm Thur last year, and the only thing gone were 1 or 2 styles of the PDC Sweaty Band, everything else was in stock. The booths are pretty much the same that are at WDW so if you're not looking for something, you can probably get in and out really quickly.

As @kim3339 said, the biggest difference between the expos, to me, is the letting people into the merch area "in batches" (great way to describe it). They did it like that in September and while I did arrive 2+ hours before the expo actually opened, it was downright pleasant compared to recent WDW expos I'd been to. And it's just way, way smaller in general - all within the Disneyland Hotel as opposed to having all of WWoS for it in WDW.

I did just over 7 miles on Saturday. Was planning for 8 but ran out of time. Next weekend I'll do 5-7 depending on my available time and then the weekend before I'll just do 3. I'm super excited! Still not sure what to wear for a top. I ordered one but I"m not in love with it. I'll wear it for a few more training ones and decide then. If I decide against it I'll either pick something up from rawthreads at the expo or wear the shirt I wore to RnR SF the other weekend which has a wine glass on it. Not Tinkish, I know, but it'll be mothers day and I'm all about wine so it works for me.

Thanks guys. Good to know the differences. I'm glad that most things should still be in stock Thursday afternoon which is probably when I'll make it there.

If you are staying at Porofini Inn your best bet is to walk along Katella to Disneyland Dr. You will see plenty of runners heading that way nice warmup walk.

Just winding down our last night in WDW and all I can say is I can't wait to get back to a Disneyland race!!! I'm so glad I got my Kessel Challenge medal but this was my worst runDisney experience...see you all in 3 weeks!!

Oh no!! What happened?? Nothin too bad I hope?? @Wink25

The course was just so crowded that we literally could not run. Came to a complete stop at the first water station and it didn't improve much from there. We ended up walking after 6 miles because it wasn't worth the struggle. So nothing too bad, just not fun. I've heard the first few corrals were fine, but they had 2-4,000 people in each of last few corrals instead of 1,000 at the start, there were at least 8,000 more people than any Disneyland race I've run, and the paths were smaller; go figure! Thanks for asking, sorry to go on for so long.

@Wink25 - That's insane. How do you even maintain a 16/mile pace if everyone is crowding up? UGH. Makes me so nervous to head to the Right Coast next year for some of these races. :(

Let RunDisney know you're upset. Email them!

I will definitely be emailing them and I have heard others will be too so hopefully it leads to some changes!
