"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

We are trying to decide between oct 29th or the 31st. Originally we had thought that we'd do the 29th and spend the 31st at the hotel (Polynesian). I thought they'd probably do some activities for kids that are special for Halloween and we could watch fireworks from the pool. Now I'm wondering if we should do Halloween party on Halloween instead. Will crowds be crazy? What would you do?

The 31st will definitely sell out and as one of the first parties to sell out. The 29th probably will sell out too, but more than likely after the 31st does.

I've been to many sold out MNSSHP. They are still fun, but you certainly won't get as much done. Prioritize what you want to do.

We are thinking about doing Tuesday Oct 13th. Hoping it'll be less busy as it's a Tuesday but at the same time I'm worried since the day before is Columbus Day :duck:
We will be on our Disneymoon, last year we were Rapunzel and Flynn, not sure who to go as this year!

Thanks! I'm pretty sure our party last year was sold out. So I guess I know what to expect. we will buy tickets when they are available but I'm still not sure what date

What is the best plan for dinner on a MNSSHP night? I'm assuming QS before seven is best, but I didn't know if there were special foods (entrees, sides, or sweets) served that we would want to try.

I know that I need to prioritize my plans that evening. My basic choices are characters, rides, and candy, right?

How late does the party last? Do most people stay until the very end? What time are the parades and fireworks? Are there any other special shows?

Hi everyone! We are going to go on Halloween :) so I am wondering does anyone here ever get a hint that tickets will go on sale on a certain day? I know sometimes the rumors we get here are true! I am afraid I will miss my chance.

Also....I think my kids want to be their own costumes so no group costume but I am trying to think of something fun my husband and I can do tat isn't too much work. Haunted mansion related? Maybe an easy shirt, hat etc.....if anyone has ideas please share!

Around 6 the QS get slammed. We ate around 5 at most parties at Pecos Bill's and last year ate during the 2nd parade at a very empty Cosmic Rays.

Oops, sorry missed all the other questions.
The party ends at midnight.

We have never stayed til midnight.

For times we can guess based on previous years. I can't find my 2014 guide. But for 2013, the parade was 8:15 and 10:30. The castle projection show was 9:15. Hallowishes was 9:30.

Based on my pictures from 2014 the villain show was at 7:45, 8:55 and 10pm.

As for special treats, popcorn carts had a special bucket. Sleepy Hollow had spiced pumpkin waffle sundae, Garton ' s had ghost cupcakes, Storybook treats had candy corn soft serve.

Why do you think that the day before being Columbus Day would have an effect on the crowd level?

Help!
Historically we do MK on Thursdays since that is the standard Morning EMH but in October (10/22) we are doing the MNSSHP on this Thursday, so does that mean there will be no early entry that day? Last time we did this (2011), we went to the party on a Thursday and they also had early entry. But looking at Touring Plans, it shows the Morning EMH does not apply on days where there are MNSSHP's planned.
Is this something new? Not a real big deal but I am about to make my ADR's and I want to switch my days around to take advantage of the Morning EMH's where I can.

So I am rambling on to ask if anyone knows if Touring Plans is right or are they guessing? Do they not do Morning EMH on the same day as the MNSSHP anymore?

The AM EMH for MK is on Mondays in October this year. MNSSHP has nothing to do with the scheduling as far as I can tell because there is a party on Columbus Day, a Monday.

ETA: from your post, it sounds like you have not seen the October schedule yet. Here it is (though hours will extend later this year when anticipated crowd levels become clearer)...

Anxious to buy tickets. Our 2 sons have never been to the party and cannot wait to see what they think.

There was an amazing family there last Halloween, they all were wearing white, with white makeup on and they looked just like the hitchhiking ghosts. the little girls had white dresses and white wigs on. they were in front of us on the line at the haunted mansion to get their picture taken with the haunted carriage. their costumes were amazing!

dollar stores around halloween sell netting to make cobwebs with, I was going to use it on my costume last year but changed my mind it may work with a nice off white dress or pants combo to make it look older.

Your party ticket will get you into the park at 4pm even though the party starts at 7.

The headless horseman makes his ride before the parade. My favorite spot to get a picture of him is between the Emporium and Barber Shop. The picture in the first post was taken there.

The parade is a not miss in our book.

The character M&G are really fun. Just be aware that lines for the more popular characters can start over an hour before the party starts.

There are two character dance parties. Last year the one was villains themed and the other was Monster U themed.

Trick or Treat lines can get really long, but if you aren't into seeing characters, the best time to ToT is at opening. Start at the Splash Mt trail, go to the POTC stop, then the Tiki room, then take the passage way to Frontierland and make a ToT stop at the dance party, and stop to dance with the characters. Skip the ToT line at the Steamboat, because lines for that are shorter later. The candy trail between New Fanasyland and Tomorrowland has one entrance and one exit area. If the entrance is in New Fanatasyland, stop at Pinochio Haus for ToT, then head to the trail. The candy stop at Stitch always has a long line for some reason? Go to the Tomorrowland ToT locations and stop at the dance party to dance with the characters.

Hallowishes is one of the best firework shows Disney has to offer. To me, this is a not miss. Our favorite viewing is between 7DMT and BOG. You are surrounded on all sides by fireworks. It's a very intense experience. The show is designed for best viewing from Main St though.

If you want to see characters, you'll need to prioritize who you'd like to see and plan accordingly. I'd suggest getting in line no later than 6 for Jack and Sally or the 7 Dwarfs.

ETA: Please keep in mind that it is nearly impossible to do everything the party offers. Decide what about the party is important to you.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure other people will chime in with their tips.
Thank you very much!!

There's never been a first-day sellout of any hard-ticket party. You will have a chance to purchase tickets for the party on Halloween even if you don't hear about the on-sale date ahead of time.

I didn't see this on Disney's website before. This must have been recently added or I skimmed over it.

" This year, share your frightfully fun, Disney Parks-inspired Halloween photos and you could win a private midnight party at the Haunted Mansion for you and 3 Guests, followed by a spooky overnight stay at Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World Resort!

For more information on how to play—and win—please see the Official Rules."

WOW this is AWESOME!!! Thank you!! I am a first timer as well and this is good info, actually the Halloween party will be our first time EVER in Disneyworld!!!...I have a question--we aren't going to do rides because we are spending the whole next day at MK Jack and Sully are really the only must meets for us all though my kids are really liking 7D and might would like to meet the Dwarfs is it possible to do both meet and greets? We plan on getting to the park right at 4pm...and really we want to do the parade and fireworks and my kids are young so Trick or treating is also a must and I have heard if you wait until late it is better for that and the only ride we may HAVE to ride is HM so what would you suggest my plan of attack be?

You could get in line around 5:30 to 6 for the dwarfs. Catch the 1st parade and stand in line for jack and Sally during the 2nd parade. We waited 45 minutes for them back in 2013 when they were by Guest Services during the 2nd parade.

:flower3: FYI, I called WDW this morning and was told that there is a great chance that tickets will go on sale next Wednesday (April 8th) .
