Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

Yeah - there seems to be a lot of speculation about Halloweentime with all of the new 60th stuff happening. I would hate to miss Hatbox Ghost. :(

Oh no! I didn't even think about it closing for the overlay. I might cry if I don't get to see Hatbox Ghost. :(

Haunted Mansion is one of my Favorites! I've been trying to guess based on past patterns if it will be open or not, so far I have come to the conclusion that I HAVE NO IDEA! I'm hoping to have a short list of refurbs since they will have just finished a bunch of major refurbs ahead of the 60th.

Last year HM was the ONLY attraction closed across both parks. Usually I go in off peak season, so for me that was pretty amazing!

Starting my dining research. If this could possibly be our only trip to DL (at least for a while anyway), is Carthay Circle a must? If we do it, it will be for lunch. Thinking that might be our one splurge meal.

It is for me this time. I think I'm going to do the WOC lunch on Sunday for my post half meal.

I really enjoyed the food at the lounge last summer. I would pick that again this year, but we've got a kid with us. I'm hoping CC at dinner is on-par with Brown Derby at DHS.

That's my plan too. My parents and I did it last year on another trip to DLR, but DH wasn't with us, so I'd like to take him this time.

Last year we had our post-race celebratory lunch at BB.

My wife was just telling me about Hatbox Ghost when I saw the posts, we're also hoping HM is open.
As this is my first rD event and I see other posts about hitting the Expo before picking up bibs, is any of the merch limited only to racers?

No...unfortunately. :(

Sad, but resolves the discussion about shopping first or picking up bibs first. Thanks!

I just came back from Tinkerbell Weekend ,we arrived at the official merchandise shop at 3 pm on Thursday opening day. And stuff was already sold out. So go to get your shopping done before picking up your bib. Disney needs to do something about this because there is lots of stuff from the weekend is on ebay! Really frustrating seeing this happening! Hope I will be lucky to get my DDD merchandise seeing this is the first time for me doing this race and my husband's first Disney Race.

I just decided to run the 10k today and got signed up with a travel provider. Anyone heard any rumors on what the theme/medal may be this year?

Excited to have you join us! For the theme the 10K training had a picture of the Magic Mirror from Snow White... So we are guessing it will be Snow White or Villains. My guess is Snow White because the Dwarfs mining diamonds feels like a good fit for the 60th anniversary.

Just changed my airline ticket to arrive Thursday so a friend and I can attend the anniversary party. I'm not running the 5k so normally I wouldn't fly in so early, but I just couldn't resist the idea of a special anniversary party. Plus, now I might actually be able to get some Dumbo merch at the Expo in honor of my first rD challenge weekend.

One question: are the "I did it shirts" ever available as tech shirts? I feel like most of the shirts I've seen are cotton.

Last year at Tinkerbell they were tech shirts this year they are cotton.

I'm good with a cotton "I Did It" shirt. We'll already be getting short-sleeved tech shirts for the DL races (cotton for the 5K) and I have waaayyyy too many short-sleeved tech shirts lying around. :)

Thanks!! I did run Glass Slipper and Rebel challenge this year so I thought I was done with Disney, but I was just so disappointed to miss the 60th that I changed my mind!

I won't be buying an 'I did it' shirt if it's cotton. It's great that they provide tech shirts for the 10k and half though! Now they just need to improve the 5k offerings... I'm ok with it being cotton, but it would be good to have one in ladies sizing - last year's one was a terrible fit! Surely it can't cost that much more to offer gender specific shirts?

@zanzibar138 i so agree with you about the 5K shirts. It's not like they don't know well in advance what size shirts we want! A women's cut option would be VERY nice.

Ugh. All this merch talk! I need to start playing the lotto or something!

I think I'm going to skip on the pre-order jacket - the gals from Tink say it's basically the same as the Marathon weekend jacket (glittery shoes on the back) in pink and grey. The jacket that was apparently at the Expo was much cuter.

I'm also going back-and-forth on the "I Did It!" shirts. I was originally on that bandwagon when I first registered, as it was going to be my first half marathon. But now? IDK. I'm thinking the shirts we get with registration and my medal will be enough of an "I Did It" portion for me. I'm already getting the pin, so there's no question there.

Is there anything else at the Expo I should think about, merch-wise? No Dooneys for me, unless I buy that wallet - but I can do that at the park, and no NB shoes ...
