Official 2015 Disney Marathon Thread

Apparently it's some sort of picture-taking system...the Dopey instructions are pasted below, Goofy is similar. Sounds like no wristbands. Dopey Challenge & Goofy’s Race And A Half Challenge In an effort to enhance our runners’ check-in process, we ask that all Dopey and Goofy Challenge participants have their photo taken with their race bibs. This photo will be used at the finish line of each race to expedite the finish line experience. Dopey Challenge You are required to attend Packet PickUp on Wednesday in order to receive your race materials. You will receive the following materials: two race bibs with two B-Tags (a green bib and a purple bib), one bag check sticker, one gEAR bag, and six race shirts. You will have a purple bib for the 5K and 10K distance races. You will have a green race bib for the Half Marathon and Marathon distances. Your bag check sticker and gEAR bag are to be used on all four days. After completing the 5K on Thursday, 10K on Friday, Half Marathon on Saturday, and Full Marathon on Sunday, please check in at the Dopey Challenge tent located after the Finish Line. Participants must wear the appropriate Dopey Challenge Bib for the 5K/10K and the Half Marathon/Full Marathon. 5K After completing the 5K, Dopey participants must visit the Dopey Challenge tent where your official results will be reviewed by race staff. 10K After completing the 10K, Dopey participants must visit the Dopey Challenge tent where your official results will be reviewed by race staff. Any idea if you need to go get a photo taken if you're using this as the first leg of the C2C?

I have no idea. I plan on going Coast-to-Coast in 2015 so I may email them to ask about it. I feel like the picture will be needed for the race where you'd actually earn the Coast-to-Coast medal (so the Disneyland race) but that's really just a guess. :confused3

Yeah I really don't think they can require it on the first leg since I'm sure a lot of people don't know yet whether or not they will be doing a race in DL.

Thank you! Any suggestions for best viewing spots along Floridian Way? Also wondering about how many points spectators can really reach for the full. I was thinking they could do TTC, Poly, catch the bus to AK (just wait by the entrance), catch the bus to DHS (also wait by the entrance) and then catch the bus to Epcot. Not sure if that's too ambitious, but also not sure I'll be able to keep up with my fellow Corral E runners - this is my first full and I just submitted a half time for placement.

I'll be happy if I can get my family out of bed in time to see me finish up at Epcot!

I think if you follow the walkway from Poly to Floridian Way right there where it dumps you out at Poly across from Shades of Green entrance is where most people are.
There were more spectators on the Poly side than on Shades side. Seems as though you can spread out enough where it will not be difficult for Family and friends to spot you. :lovestruc

Just checked the info for my husband and he is in corral "O" for the 1/2. Any somewhat educated guesses on when the very last corrals start the run? Just trying to give him an idea of what to expect. Unfortunately he did not have a time to submit, so he is at the end.

I have started with the Balloon Ladies and the time was 6:30+/-.

I do!! Pixie Dust Challenge 2015. Already signed up, airfare bought, and hotel booked. Let's Go!

I totally just made the connection now with the picture wristband process for Dopey~

My DD just ran the Avenger's 1/2 in DL for her C2C. She had a wristband, but at the end of the race they just typed in her bib # and gave her the C2C medal without cutting her wristband off. She had her picture taken at packet pickup where it said C2C but we never made the connection. She just thought she was having a fun picture taken that would show up with with the professional pictures. Nowhere did they direct her to do this at packet pick-up. They'll have to do some major communicating about the new process. As much as the wristbands were a pain for Dopey (Goofy and C2C), I loved seeing them on people and striking up a conversation about it!

Oof - I'm in the last corral for the Half. Normally I wouldn't mind this at all, but I paid for the Race Retreat as it will be my birthday weekend and I'm there by myself. Now I'm worried I won't finish in time to enjoy any of the benefits (like breakfast!). I think I can finish in just over 3 hours - but I'm assuming I won't be starting until at least 6:30 - and Race Retreat closes at 10 - so there's a really tight window. Anyone ever had this problem before? I hate to think I'm paying all that money and can only use the Retreat before the race, and not after...

Based on info I found last year O started around 6:23am. Here's a list of corral starts from last years race

Sorry if somebody mentioned this many pages back, but does anybody know what has happened to Coach Charles? I miss his commentary as I prepare for this race. Who is going to remind me when it is the right day to cut my toenails?!?!

Hello all, new to the board, but not new to Disney races. It has been a few years since my last Disney Run (Goofy '12), and I'm getting excited for this year's marathon! Anyone else in Corral "F"?

A week before race day is a good time to do that. it'll give you something to do while suffering from taper madness. :)

My Tower of Terror time bumped me up to corral "L" for the 1/2 and I'm so elated about that, since K or L was my target. I was dancing around the office about it yesterday, and to say people gave me curious looks would be an understatement.

Now I just need to find a good pair of running capris/pants. I'm local, and I went for a run yesterday AM, and it was COLD in shorts. I wanna be ready, since January weather is a fickle beast.

My favorite tights are the Be Free line from Athleta. They have huge pockets on both thighs, a back zipper, and knee vents! And the material is very soft. I order online but I think there is a store in Mall of Mellenia. If you have never tried them, I would give it a try. At first glance it looks a little pricey, but not really when compared to other quality running clothes.

The variable weather is my biggest worry. It's generally been in the 30's lately here in Massachusetts, but it was 18 degrees last week for my Sunday 20 miler. If it's 80 on race day in Florida, I hope I can handle it...

Define cold...if it's in the upper-30's here I'm running in shorts!

My wife has recently been getting her tights/capris online from Fabletics and she loves them. She says they are Lululemon quality at half the price.

Our blood runs thin in Florida - lol - it was low 40s - with a decent wind.
