OFFICIAL 2014 WDW Marathon Countdown: WE DID IT! Congrats everyone!

They don't allow them in the buildings and will have plenty of CMs telling you to park them before moving past a certain point. I remember being annoyed the first year that I didn't know and brought the Ergo for DD the following year. If you can put one in a carrier, that will probably be your best option. Good luck!

Just adding to that. Here is the stated policy from WWOS:

"For the safety of our guests, strollers are prohibited inside the Jostens® Center and HP Field House. Designated stroller parking is available outside the venues."

thanks, all, for the replies about the stroller. too bad "no" isn't what i wanted to hear ;)

the 4 year old can walk and hold my hand and i will carry the 2 year old. i will do bib pick up and grab a dopey "i did it!" t-shirt and then get out of there. DH will be there the next day so i will be able to visit the expo by myself then. i would wait to get the dopey merchandise but i'm afraid it will sell out on wednesday!

dh is supposed to land in orlando by 1am thursday morning. with it being a cross-country flight with a layover in atlanta, i'm having kids nite out come at 4am just in case he is delayed. can't bring the kids to the 5k with me and it sure would stink to miss out out dopey because of a flight delay.

****

good luck to everyone during these last short runs until the big day(s). it will be a fun weekend for sure. hoping for dry weather!

This past year I waited a long time for a bus at the Boardwalk the morning of the 5k. The next 2 mornings I jogged over to the Swan and caught the bus. It was only .35 miles. Worked out great!!!

That was my experience for Wine & Dine this year--I'm fine with walking over to one of the other hotels to get on one. I plan on taking the 3am bus anyway, after my November experience.

At Port Orleans Riverside last year the bus left with about 5 people on it and there were 4 more buses that were still waiting to fill up outside the lobby the morning of the marathon. It was great.

We can help out with the kids, but I think you're going to get to the expo before we land on Wednesday. :/ But if you somehow get through getting your bib, but the kids melt down before you get merchandise, we can look for some for you.

Betsy to the rescue!! Mwah!

Marathonfoto question - both DH & I are running the marathon but we won't be running together. If I buy the package with all the pics, would they add his pics to mine before sending them all to me?

Can't believe it's almost here!

Amy is probably right that you won't be able to do it. But you might be able to "claim some of his photos" as your own and add them to your collection. I did that for the NYC marathon in November. I ran with a girlfriend of mine and said that some of hers were mine and was able to buy them. Same company but I didn't do a package, just bought a couple.

The photos are by bib #, so if you aren't running together, there is no way that you will be able to get his bib # in any of your pics. It sounds logical that a family should be able to get pics for the entire family, but Marathonfoto wants all the money they can get.

Someone in my run group got pneumonia and can't do the Dopey challenge. Selling a bib. Message me if interested.

Since you like the cushioning have you tried the Adidas boost shoes? They are pricey at 150/pair but my goodness...talk about a pillow! If you are near a shop that sells them go try them on and compare them with the sketchers...I am just curious about that...to be frank...I cannot wear Sketchers...they are stylish looking okay but would never work for my feet.

I tried the Adidas Boosts and although they have pretty good cushioning the front of the shoes were pretty uncomfortable, just too narrow by my toes.I had the Go Run Ultra Skechers on that I plan to use for the marathon and comparing the two it wasn't even close, the Skechers are light, wide and heavily cushioned.

Well, i took about 10 days off because of the Flu. Missed my last long run of 15 miles, but did get 15 and 18 in prior to that. Feeling better I went on the treadmill today and did 10 miles. I will say the legs felt well rested. I think I should be ok, still coughing a bit but feel good. I have done Goofy a few times so i know what to expect. My legs will be a little sore for sunday but i will survive.

Taper madness now, packing stress, and constant weather checking.

Just left from a stroll in EPCOT and they have the tents going up for the marathon along with the parking lot closures. Getting close, excited.

I know it's still over a week away, but they keep bumping the temps up every day.. Not loving that.. Im gonna be one of those out there for most of the time figuring around 3 hr 1/2 and 6-630 full.. Hoping RD makes sure to have enough fluids and ice. Been doing runs / workouts inside to keep the temps up, so hoping wont be horrible. or at least it appears will be cloudy if not possibly raining.. I'd rather have that then full sun for sure..

I remember how exciting it was last year seeing tents and lights being set up when arriving to Disney for last year's marathon.

I really need to start packing...

Last year I poured a lot of water over my head to stay cool but managed fine. I'll be right there with you - 3.5 half and 6.5 full.

And weather is still likely to change. We probably can count on that.

Water over the head is the best, best feeling. And remember sunscreen!!!

Yes it is.. nothing like water on the head...

I poured a ton of water over my head last year. The only thing I didn't anticipate about having extremely soaked clothing from the extra water was extra chafing in new places. :scared1: Going to have to put on Body Glide with a roller if it's that hot again... :lmao:

Really excited with my corral placement for the Half, I'm in H! I worked really hard to train well for the qualifying time I sent in earlier this year. Unfortunately, my sister is in P since she sent in no POT. How are the corrals staggered? 3 minutes? 5 minutes? Just trying to figure out how much of a head start I'll have. As much as I love my sis, I am too proud of my corral placement to move all the way at the back with her!
