Ok, Physical Thereapy appt at 11:30 today. Cross your fingers for me that I get the green light to start running again! I'm pretty optimistic!

So... green light??? Hope so! I've been there and it's maddening to wait for the doc/PT to say go ahead.

As for me, I just had a pretty crappy short run. Nothing major, and my knee feels better now than before my run (as is usual for me), but I just realized that by this point in my training for wine and dine I had already done a 9 miler. I don't have 9 scheduled until dec 21. Maybe ill make that a 9.5 and the next long run an 11. Either way, starting to get nervous. This weekend will be my first back-to-back for glass slipper too but it's only 1 mile for the short run so I'm hoping it won't be a big deal. I totally underestimated how busy I was during this time of year! What was I thinking?!

I really, really DISLIKE the move to Mother's day :mad::mad:

The upcoming Tink is my 3rd Tink and I was really looking forward to going legacy. May, and Mother's Day in particular, makes that much much more difficult. I like doing the girls only trip thing (easier financially and planning wise. Plus I work in public safety and Mother's Day is harder to get off than MLK Jr.)

I think Disney is just trying to make more money off an obviously super popular and successful race by hoping the running moms will bring their families to the park.

I got the green light to run....kinda :confused3

This week I do 1:1 intervals for 10-20 minutes up to 4x's a week.
Next week its 2:1 intervals for the same time frame.
After that I'll have another PT appt and if I'm feeling good I'm gonna have to just go on my own plan at that point. I can't keep doing 20 minute runs for 5 weeks and expect it to get me ready for a half!

Theres two 5K's near me next weekend. One on Sat and one on Sun so hopefully the weather will be clear and I'll run walk both of those. I figure that will be good training for Tinks back to back race days.

The great news is that last night I had the most fun 15 minutes on my treadmill that I ever remember :) Felt great to be running again and no pain today!

Okay ladies and gents I am in need of advice because I am hoping at least one of you has had this in the history of your running career before. Guess who got a heat rash during their last run Thursday? Long story short I got a hole in the side of my shorts I wasn't aware of and it rubbed against the side of my legs until it turned a nice small patch of my legs red. It's not huge but it hurts, a lot.

I had to skip today's run because I don't want to aggravate the thing further. And being stuck in India where it is hot and humid until Tuesday morning isn't helping.

I know it's supposed to go to go away probably soon but any advice to maybe help speed it along? Currently applying aquaphor to the area which at least makes it so it doesn't hurt but that rubs off almost as quickly as I put it on. I can't exactly avoid walking here. And I am not going to be out of this climate for another few days. So fun.

I'm not sure if the area is well hidden enough but diaper creme works pretty well for me sometimes. Probably not something you have on hand but hopefully not too difficult to find in India. (No clue, honestly).

I agree - try the diaper cream on the rash you already have.

I ran in Southeast Asia last January - glide was my friend. I understand it won't be easy to find that there, so perhaps for your future runs, pick up some vasaline and slather it in all those places you would never think to - in addition to the diaper cream. After my half in Thai, I had a lovely rash along my bra area - it was from the ribbing - boy was that painful and ugly for a few days!

Good luck girl. I'm avoiding my run - it's -6 out there!

Ack! 12 km run scheduled for tomorrow and it is supposed to be -7 degrees. Must bundle up.

2nd the diaper cream or maybe vaseline if you can find it. And while you're out walking, maybe band-aids or something to cover it so it doesn't get more aggravated and then as soon as you're back at the hotel take it off so the patch can dry off?

Good luck in the cold weather girls!! I thought yesterday was bad at 30! :rotfl2: I've got 7 and gym tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Unfortunately it isn't so much finding diaper cream (since I think know the one store that caries it in town) its a matter of timing. The big part of the wedding is today so no time to shop. Same with getting the vaseline but since the aquaphor is in the same line to it I think I'll be okay at least on that front. And unfortuanetly I am probably not going to get a chance to shop until I get home to Denver on Thursday because we are flying pretty rapidly back. On the bright side I am hoping the cooler climates of London and New York starting Tuesday will help.

It's starting to look a bit better at least. And hey apparently dancing didn't bother the spot so I was able to enjoy that part of the wedding. I'm not quiet sure why it didn't but I'm not complaining and chalking it up to Indian dance moves.

One of the good things about being here is I am missing that cold freeze you guys are talking about. My Mom and I checked the weather back home at one point and could hardly believe when it read -5! Had to call the apartment complex to tell them to go run our pipes so we wouldn't get burst pipes.

Looking for some advice. A friend and I that are planning to take it easy on Saturday before the half on Sunday are thinking about getting a facial or something. I know we don't want a massage the day before the race. We are staying at Stovall's. Any thoughts on where we should go?

There's a spa at the grand Californian! Easy walk to go get some pampering. :)

Their prices are too high. They charge about double what I pay for here at home. Any other places? Maybe a spa not in the park.

No idea. Depends on how they handle it. If they leanred any lessons from last year, there's a chance, but I wouldn't put it very high to be honest! Goofy might be easier than Cindy at Tink (more women) but... it's going to be hard by late Fri.

Unless they hold back some for each day of the expo- then you might be able to snag some early Sat at Expo.

35 or so days now, and I haven't done a lick of training. Thankfully, I'm only registered for the 5 and 10k, not the 1/2, so I'm still confident I'll finish both races, but certainly won't be PRing. :rotfl:

Here's my question: are there time limits for the shorter races like there is for the 1/2 (3:30:00)? I'm sure there are, but I haven't been able to locate anything online on RunDisney's various pages or through Google searches. Can anyone help me out? :confused3

I know the 5k doesn't exactly have a formal time limit though they want people to move at 16 min/pace. My Mom has done the race in little over an hour so they don't really enforce the pace there.

As for the 10k. There is supposed to be a 16 min/pace since I think that's going to be out in the streets for a bit. But they were pretty lenient about that too once you got into the parks too. Though they might start telling you to move along if it gets close to opening. But the then again the layout of the morning for Disneyland half was different than Tink's. So hard to say with the 10k.

Agreed; both are supposed to be 16mm the same as the longer races but they have been lenient in in the past since there was no time chip. However if you are behind the 16mm pace you will find they have closed the lines for pictures with characters and such.

It will be interesting to see if they are more strict with the 5K at the WDW Marathon since that is timed as part of the Dopey Challenge.

I heard the 10k at DL had some odd happenings.

At one point the course took you backstage by its a small world. Some people were stopped here and re-routed. So they cut off about a mile for them.

They also closed character lines and told people they had to keep moving.

I heard people were also taken off course in Dtd even

If any of that was true, then my point is you will have ample opportunity to keep moving... But there doesn't seem to be a safe place from getting swept.

I'm curious to see the courses though. I always assumed the 10k would be same as DL 10k but now that I've talked my way through it that gives 2 different finish lines (assuming tink half is same course). 10k finishes by DLH and tink half finishes by pph
