Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Signed up for my first Disney 10K. Well, my first 10K of any kind, for that matter. Guess there's no turning back now, lol. Does anyone know how aggressively they will be doing sweeps for the 10K. I am so nervous about not being able to keep the pace.

Vicki ~ how was DL this past weekend? Hope not too crowded and the weather wasn't bad.

Kim--We didn't even go to DCA at all. At DL it was pretty empty on Wends and on the 4th too. All the locals were at the beach. But on Friday--oh wow just another busy day. It was a very quick trip but lots of fun and NO traffic coming home on Friday. Clear sailing on the 5--you know that never happens. It was great to see the College Band kids and the Matterhorn Mt climbers were back out.
Next time you drive down you MUST ck out Yogurtland at Tejon Ranch/Grapevine. Ohhhh my, a wonderful land of different kinds of yogurt and the mango is a must try. It's our new favorite clean place to stop.

Great question, I would love to know as well. :thumbsup2

And what about the 5k? Do they sweep for the 5k? :confused3

Oh no, you will not be alone! :goodvibes

I hear stories about balloon ladies & guys on bicycles :confused3 and I don't know what they mean, but it scares me because I know they are bad :rotfl2:

ok, so I'm doing it...I'm going to do the 10k as well. I'm tired of thinking about it so I may as well just do it. I know I'll feel like I missed out on something that weekend if I don't so I'm just gonna suck it up and register for it.

My thoughts exactly!

I'm signed up for the 5k, 10k and half. Eeek! It's going to be a long and fun weekend! :)

I'm signed up for the 10K and half (and the dopey the weekend before), and trying to decide if I want to sign up for the 5k, as well. It seems like a lot of money for a 5k that's not even timed, but I keep imagining wearing all my medals, and someone asking me, "wow, did you do ALL the races?" And having to say, "No, I skipped a 5k." So silly, but I think I would be disappointed. LOL.

Yes, I am officially crazy.

I'd like to know this too, but for the half. I keep second guessing my decision to register for the half instead of the 10k, but I did and there's no turning back.

In our house DH and I call them the paddy wagon and they're just as bad as a 4 letter word...

Make sure you cross train your neck muscles- you're going to need them to carry all that bling!! I'm a total enabler, but if you're doing dopey and the Tink 10k and half, it's almost expected to do the 5k too. ;) yes, it's expensive, but can you put a price on the great memories you'll make? :)

Haha, yes! I'll probably only be able to wear them all for the 5 minutes it takes to take pics. :) And very true about the memories.

We got registered the other day for the Tinkerbell 10K!! I wanted to do it before it sold out.

I have convinced my twin sister, and a friend of mine to also participate. Oh and my 11 year old will be doing it as well. I'm not worried about her at all, our last race she kept running and didn't get tired. Kids!!! Lol. My twin is a runner and I am what I describe as an avid wogger, in other words I started training for a race at DW last year and when I got there I didn't do too well, but I am determined to earn this medal. But I continue to go for a wog every now and then. I will start back full time after this week.

I have also ordered my running tutu. And when I get mine the others will follow. :thumbsup2

I'm excited!!

I don't think they are very aggressive for the 5K. I have done the 5K twice and both time there were many people that were much slower than the 16:00 pace. Since it is all on Disney property they don't have to worry about road closures.

I don't know about the 10K since we don't know the course yet. I am guessing the 10K will start/finish the same as the half since they will be using the timing mats. This means at least the start is on the street, but I don't know if we will go off property again after we enter the parks.

Hello! Im looking for some expert CA advice. :)If I arrive into LAX for Tinkerbell on Saturday at 3:30, will I make it to the expo by 7? I have no clue what Type of travel time I will be looking at!

I love your description as being an "avid wogger"!

I think it's about 45 mins travel time from the airport, more for rush hour/traffic. Are you planning to check bags at the airport and check into your hotel before the expo? It might be cutting it close if you also want time to explore the expo.

tell me not to freak out and sign up for the 10K. no no no no no

Do it!! It looks like there's a whole crew of us newbies. I think the 10K is a great way to start, more of a challenge than a 5K, but not enough to kill you like a half marathon :lmao:

edit: Nevermind, I just realized you're probably not a running newbie and you are thinking about signing up for the 10K in addition to the half. In that case, good luck that weekend, lol!
