Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

I've been told by someone in the know its not the same medal. I think the video said "there's more of these" or something like that. It's a fairy themed race, so I'm guessing more fairy or flowery type style medal for 10k. But the video was not what they will be giving out!

I'm also eyeing the Galveston race. I'd love a trip to the beach! :) it would also moon me up with half fanatics if I do it. The little things!

Based on the course map someone found for the DL 10K the race starts/ends outside of the parks, but the 5K starts/ends inside the parks. The route may be different for the Tink 10K. I thought the times were odd as well. The inaugural had the 5K on Friday night starting at 10:30pm and the half started at 5:45am. That was before Carsland land was completed and DCA did not open until 11:00 that day.

As soon as I read your post I remembered the different finish for Tink. :rotfl: I was just thinking they would use the same start/finish as the 1/2 , b/c of the timing mats. I don't know how easy it is to lay and pick up the mats though, but I would not mind starting in front of the castle. I liked the night start better than the Sat. I loved that by the time I finished this year the sun was just starting to hit Cars Land and it was really pretty, but the night race just had a different feel to it.

(DD & I have never done a 10K...so this will be something NEW):cheer2:

Yay new race distances and instant PR!! :cheer2:

I did the SF Bay area Diva this year and it was fun! I was signed up for the half but due to an injury I bumped down to the 5K. Its a decent expo with lots of womens items. The medal is nice and big plus you get a rose and a glass of champagne. And about 100 yards before the finish line they hand off tiara's and pink feather boa's! I had a great time and would do it again.

I did the SF 5k as well! I would highly recommend it. My first race ever! The medal for the 5k was nice. The 1/2 was even nicer :cool1:

I am already planning on doing the 1/2 next year :cheer2:

This year there were not really any spectators except at the finish line. I don't know if that is normal for them or not. They were very strict about pretty much everything. DH said he saw bomb sniffing dogs pass by where he was standing every 15 min or so. It was right after Boston, and an all Women's (mostly) race so I think they were being super careful. :grouphug:

Just found out today that the Divas race series is finally coming to Texas next year...to Galveston...a mere one hour and change drive from my house!!!! I've been wanting to do one of their races for a while, but never wanted to travel to where they held them. So, next week I'll be signing up for my first ever NON-Disney half. I sort of feel like a traitor ;)

Has anyone done a Diva race before? Well organized? Do they sell out very fast? I'm excited! Trying to recruit some cousins to run it with me too!

I've done the Diva's race in S.F. last year it was extremely unorganized. They did not have the first water station setup, the bananas at the end were cut in half and covered in flies, and part of the course people were cutting the loop right in front of the event staff which took out a good couple miles. However, it was better this year, maybe it was just growing pains. Its not as entertaining as a Disney race, but not bad. They don't sell out quickly, and they are cheaper.

I always get the race pins! It might be blasphemous to pin collectors, but I remove the pin on the back and turn them into fridge magnets! They make me smile every day! :D

I will also remove the back and scrapbook it!

Thanks for the heads up!!! I did not know they were coming to Texas. I'm in too! Registration opens Monday. It shows on their other races that the first week they give a discount. I will be registering on Monday!

Yes! the code is posted now...TXDIVA for 15% off the first week. I'm going to look around for hotels today too...would like to stay right on the Strand where the start/finish is.

And speaking of hotels, I booked this morning at the Hilton Anaheim for Tink weekend. Still haven't made up my mind about the 10k, but at least I have a place to sleep now. I might change my mind and switch to Paradise Pier, but I probably won't know until next month if I want to do that or not. We've stayed at the Hilton before and really like it...last couple of years the rates have been ridiculous though, but they went back down again so we snagged it.

I usually stay on Seawall Blvd. when we go to Galveston. However, I want to stay close to the start/finish for this race. I have never stayed on the Strand and don't know which hotels would be good.

Does anyone know if Disney Visa sign ups are the same day as DVC and AP.

Since it looks like AP registration opens in 10 min - has anyone heard if Visa cardholders will get early registration? I don't have a DL AP (have one for WDW), but I have a Disney Visa. :confused3

Help pixiedust: :)

I'm officially in! For both the 10K and half:cool1: Already have hotel booked at Stovall's if anyone is keeping track of such things ;)

It's official!! 5k and 10 k for me and my DD13 (& a friend I haven't seen in years!!!)
My first runDisney events!!

I'm all signed up for the half and 10k! Wheee! I might add in the 5k, too, but I'll think on that one a little more.

I used my DVC code because the first 4 of my Disney VISA came back as invalid as a code. I didn't get an email with a different code.

Thanks to my AP-holding little sister, I am officially registered for the 5k and 10k. Now I have to change my hotel reservations and figure out if I want to buy tickets or an AP. Decisions, decisions.
