Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Come on rD!!! We are all on board with the 10k, so just confirm this for us for 2014! :hourglass

I have finally convinced my DS (age 11) to run it with me -- as long as he doesn't have to wear a bunny costume. I have NO IDEA where he came up with that! :rotfl:

Last year I registered in the 2nd day and it was 51%. But didn't sell out until a month later. I'm thinking more like 2 weeks because of the pink c2c draw.

I have the same question and it is giving me heartburn! LOL! I can't miss out on a potential challenge and another medal!!!

I may have a problem...

This is what we're all dying to know!!! :faint: You are correct though, for the challenges that have been available so far, you are required to sign up for the challenge as a whole at registration to be eligible for the individual race medals plus the challenge medal...so yes, that would pose a problem if you signed up for Tink at PHM registration and then a 10k+ challenge was announced after for Tink. I can't imagine runDisney not already having a plan in place for this if there is in fact a 10k + challenge in the works for Tink. If there hasn't been a formal announcement by Thursday of this week (since that's when AP registration is supposed to be available for PHM) then I'd wonder about the validity of the rumors surrounding the 10k...or the possibility that there may in fact be a 10k, but no "challenge" if done with the half. There's just too many unknowns! :badpc:

OK, thank you ladies! At least I know I am not the only one with this rolling around in my head driving me crazy! I may just hold off on pulling the trigger on the Tink then until we hear for sure and not do it when I register for PHM. I just don't want to risk not getting into the Tink by holding off. UGH! What is a girl to do??

I haven't seen any reports that the 10k was an option

Here's my guesses:

1) the 10k won't be a challenge. I don't think this is probable though

2) it will be a challenge but not ready by thurs. if they offer it at regular registration, those that sign up early will be contacted like the deferred princesses were and given opportunity to upgrade to challenge. I bet when they say limited slots available to register for Tink, they are talking small small numbers.

3) it will not happen until 2015 and rD was talking farther in future than we are! Lol

I don't think princesses that sign up for Tink at the same time would be shut out of a challenge. So far they have allowed deferrals to upgrade to a challenge so I'm sure that would be the case here

More work for them, so I'm back tracking on the 10k happening this year. Seems like they are almost out of time to announce with minimal headaches.

I thought Princess registration doesn't open till 6/11. Who got to sign up early to qualify for a deferment?

I believe she is talking about the people who deferred their registration from last year. I.e. They registered last year, weren't able to run and deferred their registration to the next year.

More Tink 10K info! Trying to get it confirmed- they won't do it. But they aren't denying it either folks!

The runner/bling lover in me is so excited and hopes this happens for 2014! But the budgeter in me is just cringing and hoping its for 2015! :lmao:
Just registered for the Nike SF lottery and that reg went up from $150 last year to $175 this year! Of course I still paid it without hesitation...

I wondering if I should just take my chances on getting into Princess and waiting until Tink. That way I know I'll get into the challenge and won't have any worries about switching issues. And if I don't get into Princess, fingers crossed I still can, I can do it the following year.

Did you noticed they added a time limit for the 1/2 this year? And it seems like they bumped up the shuttle back to the start to $20. Kinda sad that they're charging $20 too, it was the same company for Bay 2 Breakers and it was $10. The one big plus is that there isn't a charge just to enter the lottery like there is w/ NY.

Im not buying the time limit mumbo jumbo. Way too big a race with way too many TNTers that walk IMO. In fact I want to say that last year I saw a time limit for the half too? I may just be crazy though. I do remember that it took us a half hour just to cross the start line last year and we werent even in the back of the last corral. I didn't buy the shuttle this time. For $20 I think my friends and I can split a town car. Make arrangements for it to pick us up at Safeway or something at a set time? We'll see. Now we just have to wait 2 weeks to see if we got in!

The 2013 program lists a 16 mm pacing requirement - did that change? I have not seen any announcement saying that it would be faster than that.

(OTOH, the princess registration is asking for proof of time for anything faster than 3:15 - but a 16 mm is less than a 3:30.)

We're talking about the Nike Women's Marathon. They used to not have a time limit for the 1/2 and they now do.

Ah - skipped ahead a few pages. Can't see why a race would not have a time requirement - how stringent is it?

They've never specifically said on the 1/2 before that's why I noticed it. The full is 6 1/2 hours from gun time, not when you cross like disney. It's a huuuuge TNT race, pretty sure their biggest.

That's exactly how I feel! I also registered for NWM but as a student so with NWM, GSC, and hopefully Tink next week.. this is an expensive month! :faint:

DO I NEED TO COMPLETE THE COURSE BY A SPECIFIC TIME?
The marathon and half marathon courses in San Francisco will be open for 6.5 hours. You must maintain a 15:00 min/mile pace in order to receive and a Tiffany & Co. Finisher's Necklace

This is copied from thier FAQ page. I know in DC the time limit was 4 hours and started after the last person crossed the start line. Also there was a 15 min/mile requirement and I did NOT maintain that and was not removed from the corse. My finsih time was 3:53:XX and I know there were others that finished behind me and still got the necklace.

Hopefully they will go from last crossed for SF also. :thumbsup2

That might be old, b/c when you register they specifically mention the 3:15/6:30 time limit. It's the 1st time of them mentioning it, like what was what you found, there used to not be one. But since they specifically made a point of the time limit in this year's reg, I was thinking it's something new. But then again, it's Nike and as organized as you would think they would be because it's Nike, they're really not. So who knows?

So Tink reg is supposed to be July 9th, right?
Do we think there will be early reg for AP or Disney Visa card holders?
And if there is early reg for AP or Visa, do we think it will include the 10k if it exists?

You're right. Last year I didnt feel like it was very well organized at all. Zero corral enforcement that I saw. Long lines for the finisher merchandise tent. I never did find the chocolate milk! Plus its such a hard course. I dont think it would be fair to but a limit on it like that. Especially being as its such a big TNT race and many of the TNT'ers walk all or most of it. I know I took over 3.5 hours to complete it and I had friends that took over 4.

A blogger with direct rund connections says her source told her yes to all of the above yesterday.
