Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

What color are the bibs? I am going to guess a "Tinkerbell green" but I have no idea :confused3

Thanks. And of course it is important! :thumbsup2

That's right...it is very important. :thumbsup2

The background is a light blue with Tink color curvy lines then in the middle is the "official" Tinker Bell 1/2 Marathon Logo. Our names, corral and # are in black ( they do show up better for photos and for tracking photos than my Princess race bib ) I think it's a really nice looking race bib.

So now you can start planning your outfit. ::yes::

The light blue and all the Tink green actually does work. You could try and find some photos of runners on the rundisney site and you will get a better idea of the bibs.

I got a really bad cold a month before PHM and was freaking out...running coach said to take a week off and don't even do that half marathon here in San Antonio that week:( He didn't want me to weaken my immune system anymore than it was with the cold so I followed advice and took the week off. Didn't impact my training when I geared back up...so enjoy a week off, drink plenty of fluids and watch TV or movies or read! Feel better soon!:goodvibes

Agreed! :thumbsup2 A week won't hurt you but pushing through and continuing to run might. Rest!

You're going to have weeks like this. Take them in stride, listen to your body, and when you're ready, pick up where you left off. Stressing over it will make it worse...physically and mentally. If you're really feeling the guilt, walk a bit, stretch a bit, etc. Don't push your body to do something it's not capable of doing at the moment.

Thanks! That is what I thought, even though it KILLS me to sit still and ride it out!! I will TRY to be patient... that is so not me LOL!!!

Thanks for your advice, I promise to take it easy this week :goodvibes

If you like the training plan I say go for it. As you say this is a once in a lifetime thing not like you are doing this for every 5K race. A tailored for you plan can make all the difference not only for this race but for those to follow.

Go for it. And please let us live vicariously through you. :worship:

I'm with Indygirl99 on this one !!!!
Having a personalized plan could really add to your once in a lifetime race experience.

Thanks for the input. I think I'm going to do it.

And maybe even bring a little calm to your OCD race plans. :)
This race is a big one and at least you don't have to worry about DL, and you can keep your focus on NY.

As soon as I read this, it made sense why my planning gene was going crazy ~ DL is done being planned and it's too early for Tink stuff so I had nothing to plan for! :rotfl2: And as of last week everything for DL outfits are done ~ Sun I'm wearing my Cinderella stuff again since I only got a few miles in last year and I just found the perfect shorts for the 10k on Sat, so everything is totally done now.

Although for Tink, I watched Wreck it Ralph the other day and fell in love w/ Vanellope. Might have to dress up as her in Jan... :scratchin

I get it !!! Picked up Wrech it Ralph at Target last week--hope to see it soon.

Hi everyone! :wave2: I always feel better and more motivated when I come here to confess...I haven't run since PHM  Oh well...I got the ok from my chiro to get back into more of a normal routine again so I'm back in my bootcamp class once a week. My goal this year was to focus more on cross training to get my whole body stronger and try to maintain lower mileage until I'm ready to start training for another distance run. Last night the BF and I joined up at a new place that opened up really close to home called Title Boxing Club...anyone here ever been to one of their gyms? They seem to be popping up around the city here and they look like fun! I think we're gonna do our first class on Thursday. We used to do alot of boxing when our bootcamp class met twice a week and I loved it, so I'm hoping I'll like this just as much. We stayed to watch a class for a it last night and it looked to be a great workout. Now I just need to throw in a couple days of some lower mileage running to keep that up and I think I'll have a pretty well-balanced routine. My goal is to be back to my "normal" pace for Tink 2014...I did great in 2012 and PR'd...2013 was a bit of a disaster with the back problems and the PF, so I'm out for redemption in 2014!

Sounds like a great plan for cross training. Good luck and you will have your redemption in 2014. :thumbsup2

I think your plan sounds great, and you are motivating me to try to work in more cross training!

I have a question - total newbie one :goodvibes

If you sign up as a team (of 2) do you need a Team Name? Does it appear on your bibs? Also, how much do people dress up for the 1/2 a lot? A little? Go all out, or just put a couple of token items on & call it an outfit?

Thanks :cool1:

Hi everyone. I ran my first 10k yesterday and I was wondering how my time was in terms of a goal to train to for running a half. I keep reading on the boards that runDisney assigns your corral based on a 10k time. So, yesterday was the first time I ran that distance and my time was 1:17:53. Hopefully as my running improves that time will come down, but if I were to submit that where would I end up placement wise?

Last year my 10K time was 1:19 and I was assigned to corral C.

Wonder if I can use the same 10K or if I'll have to do another this year.

I like your training plan!
2012 was my first year running so thats really all I focused on. Now that 2013 is here and I've been running for a full year I need to focus on losing some weight (just started WW) and then building some upper body strength. Havent started on that second one yet but your post reminded me I need to make it a priority!
Currently trainig for the Diva half in SF on 5/5. Its a flat course with no character stops hehe so my goal is to get a 3:00 or less. Might not seem like a big goal to sum but for me it is! Tink I did in 3:09 so I'm pretty sure I"ll be able to do it!

Thanks yall...a little derailed...started running a low fever today :worried: Guess I'll put my plans on hold 'til next week.

Hope you feel better soon.

You also have motivated me to do some cross training during the week. Dusting off Julian Michaels 30 Day Shred again. :crazy2:

Oh - I am doing the Diva 5k in SF. First race experience ever! Really excited :cool1:

Those Diva races look like alot of fun...I'd love to do one, but they don't come anywhere near me and I haven't decided yet if it's one I want to travel for eventually. Every now and then I send them an email saying how much we'd enjoy seeing them in Texas one of these days ;)

I guess I had to learn the hard way how important strength training is to running...and how much it helps weight loss too. When I decided to start running with a half marathon as my goal, I was already on a strength training program so the running was just in addition to those workouts. Eventually, the running took over and I neglected the strength training...that's when my physical issues started creeping up, along with my weight and my pace. I have to make myself find the right balnace between the two and stick with it!

Yay! So happy for you that you have your first race picked out! Lets hope its a fun one!

I have one friend who did it last year and she really liked it. I'll let you all know if its worth traveling for or not :) Fortunately its only a 1.5 hour drive and a cheap hotel room for me!

Balance is hard to find...seems like one area always gets neglected...

That sounds like fun! What kind of classes do they offer or is it more of a boxing gym?

Not sure about the team stuff, but a lot of people dress up. Some do a little, some do a lot and go all out. A few years back at the DL 1/2, there were 2 girls dressed up as Mrs. Potts and Chip w/ a full Halloween type costume. I like to theme it w/ some accessory type things, but still be in running clothes. For Tink, I had wore my Captain Hook shirt under w/ my black capri pants, had a feather in my ponytail and a hook accessory. For the DL 1/2 in Sept, I have a Cinderella blue shirt w/ a Cinderella iron-on that I ordered from etsy and put some scrapbook type sparkly gems on the shirt. I'm thinking about Vanellope for Tink next year if I can find a dark green running shirt and ordering a brown sparkle skirt to throw over my capris and them make some little fake sprinkles to put on my hat like she has in her hair.

Thanks yall...a little derailed...started running a low fever today :worried: Guess I'll put my plans on hold 'til next week.

Sorry your sick! Hope you feel better soon!

Did anyone get the survey yesterday asking about interest in a 1/2 in Paris next year?

Thanks :goodvibes

They have boxing and kickboxing class. It's a fairly small class (compared to like a large gym) with mostly just a bunch of boxing bags hanging all over. they start classes with a 15 minute cardio segment, then the boxing or kickboxing for 30 minues then 15 minutes of abs...medicine ball optional :) They also have a mini boxking ring where you can receive personal training by the hour if you choose. There were a couple of treadmills, and elliptical and a stationary bike available for use too. seemed like a lot of fun...I'm excited to do some boxing again. I saw the instructor walking around with those sparring mitts on too...I LOVED it when my boot camp trainer would get those out...especially after a rough day at work. :thumbsup2

I did NOT get a survey asking about a race in Paris...Disney is gonna bankrupt me, I just know it! :faint:
