Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Who was it here that said (I think last week?) that they got an email from runDisney saying they checked that they intended to register for Tink wile registering for PHM, but it didn't complete and to just reply to the email to give them the OK to push your charges through...did you do that? I got the email as well and went ahead and let them push it through. Wondering if you did as well, did you get any sort of confirmation? When I gave them the OK, I also asked about a confirmation, but haven't heard anything back from them.

Thank goodness you got that email from RD.:thumbsup2

But you still finished a MARATHON! :goodvibes Congrats on finishing!

Thanks!!! And congrats to YOU, rach, for finishing the full! Holy Cow! Sounds like it was rough! Way to stick to it! I hope to someday be as cool as you and do a full! ;)

Thanks, kim3339 and sumlee! One of these days it'll sink in that I did actually do it. Right now, every time I see the 26.2 sticker on the back of my car, I still go, "wha.....? Oh, yeah!" :)

I also got that email on Friday. I responded on Friday and got confirmation today. Just checked and the charge was pushed through to my card.

We're in the middle of a lovely heat wave right now, as are quite a few others! How are you all doing? I'm in stay cool mode and refusing to do any activity that doesn't involove a pool until this heat is over!

There is a free 5 milers on 4th of July that I might go hit up though. I'm not up to 5 miles yet but I'm pretty positive I could run walk it. As long as I have my handheld waterbottle with me!

We have a heat wave too! I registered for a 4th of July 10k to try to improve my proof of time but it make not work because of the heat and hills! But it will be a good workout anyway, right?

I've put my outdoor training on hold for this week. I'm also training for the Disneyland half so my current long run is 10 miles and I just can't do that when its near 100 degrees by noon! I have my first 10k in 2 weeks so I'm hoping this weather ends soon!

Have a fun trip this week! Maybe the heat wave is a good thing... everyone local will stay away and the only long lines will be for Splash and Grizzly River Run. :goodvibes

Not a big fan of the heat wave. :rotfl2: I'm scheduled for 5 tomorrow and 7 Wed, but w/ tomorrow being hotter than today, I'm leaning towards a 4-4:30 wake up call. I checked out weather.com and even then it says it'll be close to 70.

Good luck if you do the run Thurs!

Good luck Thurs! Hopefully the weather up there will break by then for you and you'll get a better time!

Kirstie, is that the one at Glen Hall park? I was thinking about running it too, but I probably won't. I haven't run a single step in 3 months, and with this heat I think 5 miles will be too much for me. I am seriously considering the Fab 40s 5k on the 27th, though. That would be a beautifully scenic run. :cloud9:

Do you mean getting swept at Disney? There are sweepers (cyclists) that will let you know how far ahead of the cutoff you are and usually they will ride up to a mile marker to let people know as they pass. I have heard there are two mile markers that you need to pass by a certain time to not be swept and once you are passed the second one you will be fine.

I would recommend starting at the very front of your corral to get a small buffer since the 3:30 cutoff starts with the last person crossing the start line which is normally Jeff Galloway and he takes his time crossing.

Be sure to submit a proof of time if it is faster than a 14:52 mile (3:15 finish). If you start in any of the corrals besides the last one you can figure a 5-10 minute buffer for each corral.

This is the only race I recommend starting out fast. You will be running outside of the park for almost two miles at the beginning of the race so make those count before you get into the park. This is based on the 2013 course which had you go through DL, DCA and Downtown Disney in the first 6 miles. The 2012 course had you entering the park right away, but you didn't go into DCA until about mile 11. The impact of the 2012 course was they did not open DCA until 11:00 that day. That was not an issue then since that was before they had completed Carsland and Buena Vista Street. Once you are in the park keep an eye on your pace if you stop to take pictures at characters. You will not be swept in the park, but if you get behind the sweepers you need to try to pass them before you leave Downtown Disney.

Thanks for the info, very helpful! :thumbsup2 and very much appreciated.

Another No Cal checking in here. Wow is it hot! :scared1: Just got out yesterday for at least a walk. Only made it 3 miles! No running. I seriously thought I was going to melt. It was earlyish in the day and already 98 degrees out!

And they keep pushing back the day for this heat wave to start to cool off. :( I am really getting tired of over 100 deg days. Bring on the high 80s at least :worship:

Yup. Its the one at Glen Hall park. 8am start which should already be on the warm side. It might kill me but I think I'm gonna give it a shot. I thought about doing the Fab 40's one too...but man I am just not a summer runner hahaha

Couldnt agree with you more! I'd pay for some 80 degree days at this point!

Wow! Do you think a time under that would get me out of the last corral if it only a 10k? That would be awesome :thumbsup2

I hate to sound like a broken record....but early registration is FRIDAY....Do we know if they are having a 10K? And do we have an official date for the 5k? it is still blank on the Run Disney site.....:confused3

We were in corral D for 2013 and we had submitted a 3:00 finish time. They used t0 need proof for 2:45 or faster, but they recently changed it to 3:15 or faster. It's worth a shot to submit a proof of time if you are faster than 3:15 even if it is based on a 10K time.
