I finally booked our rooms! We willbe staying at the poly and I will be running the GSC! DS will be running the kids race and I'm still working on getting DH and Dmom and Ddad to do the 5k! Whoooo cant wait!

2014 booking is open on the WDW site now. But at those prices, I will keep my offsite room. $175/nt to stay at Pop?! Ouch. Even a discount won't bring it down to anything reasonable.

Beginning to regret registering for this race. It's not THAT great!.

Since this is a thread for people that have booked rooms and are excited about the race, I will stay encouraging and say it is a FANTASTIC race. I've done 10 1/2's in 16 months and Princess is my favorite..... Hope you find something that will work for you offisite and you have a good run at Princess.

So if you had a bad back (lax SI joint), and needed to be sure you'd get a good night's sleep without a lot of pain when you wake up, which value would you choose? I've stayed at CSR, POR and Poly, but am trying to save $$$ this trip and still stay onsite. Just booked POP to make sure I've got a spot, but am open to suggestions.

Any thoughts? Thanks!!!!! :)

My current $79/nt rate at Marriott Village will do just fine.

Sorry if you are offended, but I speak from the experience of having done numerous Disney races since 2008 and the experience has grown increasingly more expensive--it's not unreasonable to lament that. Plus, RunDisney pulled a fast one by stating there would be ticket discounts on the Princess page and then pulling that rug out from under.

The Disney races are fun, and I would really like to have a "complete set" of Disney race medals (well, except Dopey!), but it has become even more of a "premium" experience than before.

Ooh can I add that I'm also doing Tink injanuary for the pink coast to coast? Forgot that in all of my Polynesian excitement! (Not sure how I could forget! Lol)

For those that have run the PHM before would you recommend a monorail resort for the weekend or an EPCOT area resort? Or another area all together?

I guess im wondering if we were to stay at a monorail resort if that would circumvent the use of buses on race morning? And for those staying close to EPCOT (thinking BWI or BC) if the journey fairly quick on the bus to the start? What about taking a taxi?

Just really looking to stay wherever will be most convenient on race day - im also doing the GSC but my team mate for the PHM is not - so a nice pool is a must (keeping optimistic weather will be nice enough for that) also its my teammate's first ever Disney trip and really wants to go all out

I've only ever stayed value at POP, we liked it just fine. We too are Poly/BLT/AK norms so I will say it was a big adjustment. BUT, it was just fine! Room size and doors on the outside (motel style) was the biggest change.

Not offended, I'm Italian, doesnt happen too easily. Just trying to keep this an "up" thread and not turn it into an ugly one like many of the other threads. Again since people are throwing a bunch of time, energy and money at this and some are brand new to Princess, I like to stay positive about it. Happy Running!

I think if you can afford a monorail resort, then I would say go for it. I stayed at BLT 2 years ago for Princess. At that time they only had the monorail running after the race and not before. Last year they changed it to before and after the race. I can tell you it was very nice to climb on the monorail after the race and pull up to your resort. Then there is also the perks of getting to the parks as well, not counting the size of the rooms. I got my CR room this time for $394 after tax thru a travel agent. Way better then what Disney has right now. PM me and I can send her info to you. BY the way she is "legit" just got my mailed Disney confirmation in and it links to the My Experience site on Disney.

I would think the mattresses at the values would be about the same. That said, AoA is a newer resort and so less wear and tear on them.

I have grown very fond of Pop--even staying there on non-Disney trips to run. Great food court, and you can even have a level of peace and quiet if you ask for a room towards what is now the AoA side of the property. I have stayed several times and never had any issues sleeping related to the beds.

I am also considering staying at the Fairfield inn at the Marriott Village. Anyone stayed there before? This is my first Disney race. We have stayed both on and off property before on our family trips, so I know the pros and cons and we don't mind renting a car and staying offsite.

Fo two adults (no kids), is it really that much more convenient to stay at a Disney value resort as far as attending the races versus driving in the am for both the 10K and the half? Are there adequate busses to and from the race? When parking the car, is there a lot of traffic? We are planning to stay 4 nights.

Thanks!

I'd like to know this too! Only did the PHM in 2010 and stayed at POFQ where we caught the bus promptly at 3:25 a.m. with no problems.
For this trip, I am thinking about staying at AKV Thurs and Fri and then moving to BLT for Sat and Sun to use the monorail, but I'm nervous that it may break down or not be running well that morning. I don't know if I should just stay at AKV for all 4 nights.

Anyone with advice or thoughts?? Can we use a taxi at the last minute?:hyper:

Me too! :wave2: Jambo DVC studio checking in Thursday and out on Saturday. I have to wait 2 more days to book another 2 nights in a 1 bedroom elsewhere.
