Official 2014 Donald Half Marathon

All things considered, I guess that's not a horrendous price. Given that its not necessarily feasible to have family and friends stationed all over the place, there doesn't seem like much of an alternative if you want pics.

So glad I found the thread for the Donald! Dh will be running it as his first half. For me... it will be my second.

Super excited!

The MarathonFoto people are actually at the character stops as well, maybe not all of them but a decent amount. I did have a CM take a picture with my phone as well. For the MarathonFotos, if your bib number is obscured just a little, it makes it a pain to find in their database! So for pictures with characters where my arms were crossed and hiding my bib number, they were tough to find.

Thanks so much, for all the great information!

99% full. Hope everyone is registered!!

Count me in. DH and I signed up last week. First 1/2 for both of us but we figured if we ever wanted to do it might as well at the happiest place on earth! Glad to find lots of support and info.

For those who have been before, when do you get your room? Disney hasnt released rates for 2014 yet and the rundisney packages seem high.

I am in for the half this year! I am also doing the 10K the day before. This is a step-back year for me after doing the marathon this year, although a new experience to be doing back-to-back race days.

99% full already ... that is impressive!

Speaking of price...I expect Disney prices to be higher because it is in Disney and their expense is so much higher. All the organazation that goes into it...the pop's , the water (unless that is sponsered), tents,

I considered doing the RnR Vegas half this year in December but saw the price...and it wasn't too off from Disney. It turned me off. I had read and heard first hand at how utterly disorganized the RnR Vegas was. Over crowding, not enough water to start...yet they charge almost the same price as the Donald half. I decided not to go.

I have a friend who, just two days ago decided she wanted to sign up for the Donald. I haven't heard from her and I hope she did. Otherwise she will either sign up for the full or its a no go.

At least if someone signs up for the full now you would have a good amount of time to train for it.

I've been pushing to get my brother-in-law to sign up for a couple weeks now. Finally got him in when it was up at 97% this past weekend. Cuttin' it close!

people could do the goofy (i'm nowhere near being at that level!) to get into the half but i'm so glad i registered day 1. no worrying. i'm excited.

Was just reading your May 1st blog post... My journey has a very similar timeline. Started C25K around May in preparation for an October 5K. Ended up taking most of the winter off, but got back in to running around Feb. Did a 5K in March and I have my first 10K this weekend.

Signing up for the Donald was a huge step for me, but given the progress I've made to date I'm confident it will be a success. 240 days and counting!!!

I squeaked in two days ago. My wife was on the fence on weather or not we would do a trip to Disney with the three kids(7,3,1) for this. I love running and Disney so it just made sense to me, but her, not so much. I brought the race up before it opened and she was pretty much against it but willing to listen, mentioned it again at about 67% and she was not too keen, again at 87% last week and she was "thinking about it", at 97% her answer was maybe and when I told her the next day it was 99% she said OK, lets do it. :cool1:

I have one 1/2 under my belt and by the time I get there it will be my 3rd-I have one early fall as well . This will be my first destination run, and I am really looking forward to it!

So cool to see all these stories; mine is similar to this as well. I've been hinting about this for quite some time but have never gotten my wife to bite. Our kids are similar ages (8, 5, 1) so I know the work involved in coordinating a trip to Disney. :faint:
When the percentage started to creep up, I dug in harder and was finally able to convince her that we could just make an adult weekend out of it. She was able to arrange for her mom to watch our kids!

Hi all
My 21 yr old daughter and I are in for the Donald! :cool1: This will be the first half marathon for both of us. We ran a couple 5K's last year. We are in training for a 10K on Labor day. We also hope to be able to submit a time from the 10K to better our corral placement. We are very excited for our first half to be in Disney. We are huge Disney fans and cant wait for the run and all the great info and updates from everyone on this thread! Good Luck with your training and be careful on the roads!

Hi all -
I have been away with my move and wanted to add a few words of encouragement....

Thank You for your advice, encouragement and future postings!

Good for you both! How much fun will that be! Yes , if you are going to do a half for the first time than Disney is the place to do it.
