Interesting - there is so much I want to do, right now though, I'd upgrade to a Disney hotel. I am staying at the BWPPI and looking at trip report photos, I long for a Disney pool and hotel.

Otherwise, more souvenirs, more extras in the parks (edibadle treats, maybe the dessert party for fantasmic).

This just happened to me! I got a $500 disney gift card as a gift. Used it to buy an AP. I used the AP to qualify for 25% off at DLH and made the switch from off site.

Hi everyone!

Huh, I never posted here either! We are going from 8/9 to 8/17--first half at the Candy Cane Inn, second half at the Grand Californian. I'm excited about both--I've stayed at the CCI before and loved it, and of course am SO excited to stay on property! We are taking my mom to celebrate her retirement this year, and my ILs are arriving midweek to join us at the Grand.

We have lots of fun stuff planned for the week, in addition to Disney--a morning at the beach, afternoon cabana rental, a day at Knott's, the Fantasmic dessert party, and what I'm most excited about--the Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour. Recently I have gotten really into DL history (I'm reading a book about it right now) and I am just over the moon to see Walt's apartment. I'm just giddy!!

I just posted on another thread about this, but we got premier APs for this trip because we want to be in the parks more than 5 days and are planning on coming back when the kids get out of school in May. I am also planning on a weekend trip with my eldest sometime around Christmas (we did that last year and it was wonderful). Of course I would have preferred the deluxe AP, but our last day in the parks is a blackout date so it didn't help us at all. So we bit the bullet on the premiers.

We have Storytellers booked for breakfast one morning, and dinner at Rainforest Cafe. My husband wants to do Goofy's but I've read mixed reviews, and for the price I'm not sure. Anyone have any input? Other than that, it's probably counter service for us (totally fine!). When I was there last Dec, we didn't eat at any table service places and we still enjoyed ourselves.

This is my youngest son's first trip to DLR (and to CA--my older son was born there) so he is super excited, as am I! Just a week and a half to go!!

I think we'd use the extra money to stay onsite for our full trip, instead of starting off at HOJO's and then switching to DLH like we've decided to do. The HOJO super family rate really helped the budget though, and so did the 25% off AP discount at DLH. We're ending up saving about $800 though by staying the first 3 days at HOJO rather than staying at DLH the full week.

Good question, but a no brainer!! 500 bucks gets us another night at the hotel and another day in DL. Boom.
