Going a little nutty here - lists are made, plans are set, reservations are handled, and now it's just the WAIT. I'm trying to avoid buying all sorts of things that I don't need before we go...

Any coping strategies??!?!?

The boards.... Checking dinning reservations online to make sure they are there, YouTube ride videos, the HoJo camera. The boards....

We saw it on the entertainment schedule before they changed the format. It's some sort of Tomorrowland feature? The next night is Scot Bruce, an Elvis tribute artist. The show is at 7pm, that's about all I know!

That's great! Thanks for the info :goodvibes

Just booked our discover the magic tour for Sunday Aug 24 and that was the last ressie I needed for this trip!

Here is our final schedule:
Hop all Days – aug 23 – 28
Discover the Magic Tour – Aug 24
Wine Country Trattoria – dinner – Aug 24
Plaza Inn - Minnie & Friends – breakfast – Aug 26
BTM BBQ – dinner – Aug 27

I am not sure if I am going to keep the Minnie and Friends Breakfast – we have done it once already this year and I really only want to do it so we can get into DL early and ride a couple of rides during MM like we did last time…since we are APers we don’t get any MM or EE and having breakfast ressies before official park opening on a MM day allows us to have some extra quiet time in the park.

Due to booking the tour and the BBQ dinner our breakfast has a 75% chance of getting cancelled – plus we have two more trips planned in the next 9 months so we could do it another time instead!

Does anyone know where I can find a Mickey Bar in DtD or at any of the resort hotels?:earseek:

They have them at Tangaroa Terrace, next to the pool at DLH (we got some to bring to the pool on our trip last year.)

Six days until the beginning of August and we slipped to the second page??? :faint:

Since SIL flying from TO to meet us, I said we would buy her parkhopper as an early Christmas gift. I went to the Airmiles site last night and thanks to some last minute points that were credited yesterday, I had JUST enough points for her ticket, I even had TWO airmiles left over! :rotfl:

Unfortunately, I can't think of anything else to plan, so now it is just the waiting game.

Three weeks, four days and (im)patiently counting.

What are the mosquitos like in Disneyland? and even in other parts of California? Does anyone know?

We had SUCH a wet spring and into summer here that they are HORRENDOUS and I'm REALLY hoping that I can get a break from them.

We leave for California in 2 weeks and 2 days!!! YIPPPEEEEE!

I don't recall there ever being a mosquito problem there in Anaheim. Whenever I go, the only bugs I see are those little gnat/fruit fly things if any are buzzing around. That an your occasional bee, though I don't recall them being there too much either. That's not to say they're nonexistent there, but just not as ever present as say the midwest/south. I'd say if you're really allergic then you need to bring something both to put on you and to take in case you do have an allergic reaction (Benadryl, etc).

In any case, it's not likely you'll be bit by a mosquito, but you can prepare yourself in the off chance you might be.

Even if there is a mosquito or two in CA, they are nothing like the ones you are use to in SK, those suckers could fly off with a small child! :lmao:

NICE!!:thumbsup2

I think you can get them at White Water Snacks at the GCH.
AWESOME!!:thumbsup2

Yes, you need to watch out for a mouse in red shorts, a bear in a red shirt with no pants and a duck in a blue shirt with no pants. Oh, and a couple of chipmunks.

I haven't noticed mosquitoes, and believe me, if they were there they would have found me. The ones in Manitoba think I'm some kind of delicacy as they always gobble me up but never anyone else around me.

I remember seeing a lot of bees/wasps in the Mickey and the Magical map amphitheater. It's probably because of all of the cotton candy and spilled drinks around there.

Currently got my "Music of Cars Land" CD pumping while going through photos from our last trip, getting excited for next month.

We look to be going 4 days now, 18th-21st. Should be getting the tickets soon, but no reservations planned, just going to go with the flow and try not to be to planned and have to work around a schedule.

I'm SO happy to hear the mosquitos are almost non existent down there! yay!! They have been so aweful here almost to the point of just NOT going outside when it's cooling down and avoiding shade when out there when it's sunny.
I will however take my chance with that very large mouse :cheer2:

I have a list started! Only a quick 2 day trip and trying to simplify how much we take so hopefully won't take much time!
:welcome: a quick trip is better than no trip :thumbsup2

Our dates have changed, we're now the 8th through the 14th, still at the GCH.
I will mark that down.

Does anybody have any park strategies yet?
I am still not completely sure of our strategies except to get to the park before opening to utilize the shorter morning line ups. We will also use Single Rider lines as dd is 16 now. DH goes on first, then DD and then me. Usually that way DD often ends up with one of us or at least very close.
The days we are going are also marked as quite low crowds being that school is back in so I just don't think we are going to worry too much about our park touring plans.
You didn't make a mistake but our hotel has changed twice since I posted originally! :rotfl:

We switched from Del Sol to the Desert Inn and Suites and now that SIL is joining us, I've changed again to the Park Vue Inn.

Also, as of right now we have our anniversary dinner at SH55 planned for Aug 20 and lunch at BTRBBQ on Aug 21. We are debating dinner at Carthay for Aug 22 but have not finalized that yet. Since SIL is joining us and we are helping her pay for the trip, she is going to babysit DS so DH and I can enjoy a private anniversary dinner.

Now that I type that out, I wonder if maybe we should look at going all out and see if we can get a table at Napa Rose?

I will mark it all down :)

Our tickets arrived today!!!! :dance3: it's getting close now!!!!!

:yay::maleficen:maleficen:ccat:

I KNOW!!! I can almost taste the mickey ice cream bars and dole whips!!!

Waiting is SOOOO hard! :guilty:
I usually...
pop on to DIS
listen to a lot of park music on d.cot.com
watch youtube videos of some of the rides
look through my California travel and Disneyland travel books
watch a show that is theme related to our trip (a while ago we watched The Rock cuz we are going to visit Alcatraz)
if all else fails and I need to kill some time I will read a trip report!

2 weeks exactly for us! I just keep staring at the restaurants thinking "should I make another reservation?" But I know I shouldn't, I just want to feel like I'm still planning!

For me it's probably upgrade my resort. I always LOOOVE the idea of being right on site but just always choke at the cost.

I'd spend it on one of those in-room celebrations, where you can have gift baskets and balloons, and fill it with lots of good stuff. And chocolate! Maybe include a Disney GC or Disney Dollars for everyone.

For me, it would have to be add a fancy restaurant and increase the souvenir budget. Personally, we only have a hotel room to come back and sleep in. And then the next day we're in the park again and same with the next day. It's kind of a waste of money in my opinion to pay such an exorbitant amount of money for a room you're only going to be spending 9-11 hours in a day when most of that is going to be sleeping. However, if I had more time around the Disneyland Resort, I might reconsider it. With only a week to visit family, friends and whatnot, the time goes by so fast. And to be honest, $500 isn't that much more when you're talking about an extra night in a fancier room.
