**** Official 2014 AUGUST - Disneyland thread ****

Looks like Ridemax is up to the 23rd right now so hopefully VERY SOON!!! I need the 25th and 26th.

What is ridemax?

We leave in 14 days, did a mock pack to get a feeling for what we'll need for the trip a couple of days ago. We left most of our stuff in our main suitcase and plan on doing on the actual packing at least 3-4 days in advance.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK.....

:flower1: :flower1: :flower1: :flower1: :flower1: :flower1: :flower1: :flower1: :flower1:

HAVE YOU STARTED PACKING YET???

If so, when did you start? How much have you packed already?
If not, when WILL you start?? a week before? a DAY before?!?!?! lol

Still 31 days before we leave, so no packing yet. I usually tidy up the house first, before I get DH to bring up the suitcases from the crawl space. Then I pack up the weekend before our trip while DH takes the kids somewhere to keep them busy. I've tried having them help pack for trips, but they just end up driving me nuts.

Packing for our September trips was easy because instead of putting the summer clothes away to make room for the fall clothes, I just put them into the suitcase. This year, though, the unpacking will be easier, since I'll just wash up the clothes from our trip and then put them away and put the new school clothes into the drawers.

Funny, started yesterday putting all the Mickey shirts together.

Been packed in my mind for the last month.

The only packing I have done is to not take the suitcases back to the basement after we got home from Ontario on Saturday since we are going to need them soon! :rotfl:

I always pack the day before we leave, most of what I'll be packing will be clothing that we will need between now and then. I do have a toiletry bag of all my travel size products that is always packed and ready to go, all I need to add at the last minute are my glasses that I wear at night after I take my contacts out.

We travel a fair bit so I have this packing thing down to a fine art!

I do have to say, I am getting really excited and really impatient waiting for the next 3 weeks so I'd start packing now if I could just to give me something to do and feel like it was closer than it is.
:maleficen
seriously, is time moving slower right now? :goodvibes

We pack the day before we leave. We still have four weeks til we're in the parks. Now for warm weather trips in the winter here, I'll start packing a few days earlier than that since we don't need the same clothing and stuff just before we go.

However, I am starting to accumulate stuff we will need for the trip. Bought my kids a swim suit each today on clearance because they both could use an extra one and they were on clearance. Why not? I also found a Mickey shirt on the clearance rack for my youngest. :cool1:

We still have over 4 weeks to go until we leave, so I haven't actually got the suitcase out yet. I plan to do that very soon!

This trip is going to require very careful packing. I'll be away for 4 weeks, and will require lots of specialised clothing (eg running, horse riding, Dapper Day, Disneybound outfit etc), so I've had a packing list going for about 2 months now.

I have started pooling stuff together in a pile ready to pack. So far that pile is mainly jewellery and hair accessories (including 2 x Minnie Mouse ears). Since it's the middle of winter here though, I can definitely start packing my summer stuff :thumbsup2

I haven't technically started packing, but I have started "gathering." I have a bag with some supplies and snacks and a folder with printed out info and vouchers. I must also confess to buying 2 new pairs of walking sandals too... We leave in 12 days! Woo-hoo!

I haven't started packing, but I have a killer packing list that I modify for every vacation. I've done this since my children were little and now I have it for my grandchildren. There is almost nothing that drives me more crazy than forgetting to pack something!

I like my shopping on vacations to be for treats and not basic things!:confused3

Started packing a couple of weeks ago, its winter here so I have been putting aside clothes I know I wont be wearing between now and then. Plus I have packed quite a few items of clothing that have seen better days and will be making a one way trip to make more room for souvenirs!

Well! Me and the niece will be there August 21-25!! I am so excited!!:yay:
While I have been to the MK park for 1 day about 8 years ago, this will be a first time trip for Kaitlin!
We are staying at a good neighbor hotel and wow, I just don't know what to think!!!

10 days until we leave for Disneyland!! :cool1:
I can't believe I have kept it a secret from the kids! So excited to surprise them :goodvibes
I don't post on here very often, but I'm enjoying following this thread.

I started packing on Sunday. I leave July 31 to go meet my husband at his place because its only 20 minutes from airport (he rents a place close to his work....less stressful for him....:) was my idea). We fly out at 10:05 Friday August 1rst. I am feeling pretty calm about packing as I only have to pack for 2 adults this time but I am starting to get very anxious about "park strategy" as I have never done DL before. I am treating this trip like a once in a lifetime thing so I need to do it all!

That's funny to wear old clothes on your holiday and ditch them! I never would have thought to do that! When DS was in diapers, we packed one suitcase entirely of diapers and snacks so that we'd have an empty suitcase at the end of the trip for souvenirs.

Haven't started packing yet, but have started trying to locate those, "I know I have xxx someplace, now where is it?" things! Also throwing things I know I'll need in a Disney box, making last minute shopping lists, ordering some items from amazon, and making sure the kids have everything they need. Nothing worse than hearing, "My shoes are too small," the day before the trip.

I usually pack 1-2 days before we leave.

So excited!!!

Last March, I had us packed more than a week out. Now we have it down, though, so we'll pack a couple of days before our trip, right after laundry to make sure all the clothes we want to wear at DLR are clean. ;)

I put our important documents in our trip shoulder bag as we get them, and we leave our travel chargers packed and have a standing plan for throwing together fast quart toiletry bags. Plus, we do laundry usually mid-trip.

So two days out it's just a matter of rolling (yes, like a flight attendant) and packing our clothes into our carry-ons. That's it. No suitcases *ever*. Plus, we wear on the plane what we'll wear in the park on our first day. Our goal is speed and ease from our house to Mickey's. :thumbsup2

I'm leaving next Friday, the 1st, for just two days in the park, but I will be all packed this coming weekend!! I am very organized and like to have lists, etc...so that I don't forget anything, even for a super short visit!!

I'll pack up the regular clothes the weekend before I leave but I've got multiple costumes that I have to pack up too. Still debating if I'm going bring them on the flight or if I'm going to use UPS.

What is ridemax?
Ridemax is an optimization program whose goal is to minimize the amount of waiting and walking someone does at Disney's theme parks. I don't always get the most use out of it but I like to tinker with it before trips to get a good idea of what wait times will be for the rides throughout the days of my trip. You select your date, the times you want to be in the park, the rides you want to do and how many times, when you want to take breaks and then it generates a plan for you. Like i said - I don't usually follow the plan but I like how it gives you an idea of how long the waits are going to be.

This trip is going to require very careful packing. I'll be away for 4 weeks, and will require lots of specialised clothing (eg running, horse riding, Dapper Day, Disneybound outfit etc), so I've had a packing list going for about 2 months now

I can relate to this. We are going to be gone from Aug 11th to the 27th and we are doing theme parks, a ghost town, visiting relatives, a bit of hiking in the woods, being tourists in San Francisco, driving the coast, hanging out on the beach. So we are going to need a wide variety of clothing. If we were driving it might not be so bad - just cram it all in the car but we have to fly down to LA first and get a rental car so it's going to be tricky fitting it all in our suitcases.

I haven't started packing, but I have a killer packing list that I modify for every vacation. I've done this since my children were little and now I have it for my grandchildren. There is almost nothing that drives me more crazy than forgetting to pack something!

That reminds me, I have a really great packing list somewhere too. Now to just figure out where it is.
