**** Official 2014 AUGUST - Disneyland thread ****

Made our Discover the Magic tour ressies this morning! That was the last outstanding one, so I am excitedly ready for our trip! I'd be wishing the weeks away except for my DD turns the big 5 on our trip, and I'm savoring these last few weeks of 4. :lovestruc

Yay! You're going to love the tour. It's so much fun, and the kids will get to meet and play with kids their own age, which they may not get to do otherwise. Our tour guides last year were Josiah and Eric, and they were fantastic. They had a really good rapport with each other and the kids all loved them right away. It's a lot of walking, as you visit each of the lands in a span of 2.5hrs. If you have a stroller, you might want to park it near toon town, since that's where you'll finish the tour. We left ours at the tour gardens and then took the train from Toon Town to Main street after the tour.

I just saw that BB King will be playing the HoB on August 30th! I have to wake up exceptionally early on the 31st for the race, but I'm still tempted to go see the show anyway.

I hadn't even thought of checking the entertainment schedules for those places! Thanks for reminding me :thumbsup2

Great info, thanks! I am so excited. My DDs are going to be so surprised! We will have a stroller, so I'll take your advice and leave it somewhere. I know our DD2 will want to be running and keeping up with her sister, anyway. If she gets tired, her dad will carry her. :)

Just a friendly reminder for my August peeps, if you want PP+, make sure to order it right away! I just placed my order yesterday.

:wave2:

We are heading home from Ontario tomorrow so now I can start getting really excited about Disneyland! I managed to talk my sister in law into flying from Toronto and meeting us in Anaheim so I am even more excited than ever!

Ok, I am getting more and more confused as the calendars come out. We will be there August 25-31st. We are doing full days on Tuesday and Wednesday, half days on Monday and Sunday. We are going to Legoland one day and Huntington Beach another day.

I thought we'd do Legoland Thursday, our last DLR day on Friday, and Huntington Beach on Saturday. The idea was to skip the Saturday DLR crowds, and that the Thursday-Friday DLR crowds would be fairly similar, but it would make sense to have much lower crowds at Legoland on Thursday vs. Friday.

But now I see all APs are blocked on Saturday the 30th. I thought once they were unblocked mid-August they stayed that way. Is it possible that Saturday would be the best day to visit out of Thursday, Friday, Saturday in terms of crowds? We are there for the races, so I know all about those and the impact that might make on crowds too.

Which day would you do what? :confused3

Will be there minimum night of the 14 and all day on 15th (maybe 16th too) depending on what I decide to do.

1st timer,

The only thing I can say is that my experience during that week has always been that it's significantly busier on Friday than on Thursday. We've never stayed for Saturday because I've heard how busy it gets on Labor Day weekend. Which is probably why APs are blocked on Saturday ... they're expecting a lot of people in the parks that day. I would guess it's going to be busy Friday and Saturday no matter where you go.

That's the week we usually go (not this time due to scheduling conflicts). If your experience is like ours has been, you're going to get a lot done on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (and Thursday if you were there that day). Personally I'd stay with your plan to do LEGOLAND on Thursday since you should be getting a lot done in DL earlier in the week, even if it will cause you to be in DL on a busier day. However, as to whether you'll be better off doing DL on Friday or Saturday, I can't say.

Good luck!

Haven't started packing yet (21 days to go) but after the show I directed closed on Aug 2 I will spend the next week getting ready since we leave a week after that. I tend to start pulling toiletries and health stuff first and will probably start Saturday or the following and then spend the weekend putting stuff into suitcases. My DH on the other hand waits until the night before if not the day we leave (by leave I mean go to Porland and do a park and flu package.... Just too much to drive from Salem for a 7am flight)

Checking in! I booked the Grand on Friday, so my trip just got very real! I'll be at Disney from August 19th, through August 22nd!

I hope to photobomb ALL y'alls pictures!!!!

We still have 3 weeks left, so I'm not going to start packing until a day or two before. I'm only going to be gone a week, and I don't take much stuff aside from clothes, shoes, make up, and toiletries. It's pretty simple. If I need anything else, I can always head over to the store to grab it.

Definitely won't pack until the night before. And I'll probably forget something important. :)

I get back from a trip to Myrtle Beach on Friday Aug 1 and go straight to work from the airport, and leave for DL early Sunday the 3rd. Packing will happen probably on Saturday morning before I head to work that afternoon.

So... lots of last minute packers I guess!!!

Normally we go to WDW end of April so it's SOO easy for me to pack early. I usually have a box that I throw misc items in aprox. 2 months before our trip and am usually 90% packed about 5 days before we go.

THIS TIME THO!!! I'm finding it hard to pack being that it's nice here. I can't come across my favorite tank and say oooh, gotta put this in the box cuz I'm USING it all!!!! Same goes for swimsuits and sunscreens! So this time I'm going to guess we'll start packing misc items a few weeks before but I'm still pretty sure I'll be 90% packed at least 3 days before we go. I can't help it - I just NEED to see it's all there well before having to zip it up. I cannot stand packing a day or two before and realizing i have to run out to get something :furious: I need to be packed and relaxed the day before a trip.
