**** Official 2014 AUGUST - Disneyland thread ****

DL: no space mtn, no star tours, no Matterhorn and no thunder mountain. Hubby will do space and thunder mountain with our daughters (12 & 16), and we send them off for quality sister time for the other two. I love the non-ride time to just walk around, visit some shops and pick up fastpasses.

DCA: no screaming or cages of death, and a few of the carnival looking rides. Hubby loves Screaming, no one will do wheel.

The lists on the front page are all caught up :goodvibes

Take a peek and let me know if anything needs correcting.

When we went 2 years ago it was really hot... Like 100+ most days. Last year it was more upper 80s with maybe one day of low 90s. We hit the parks early morning then too a break during the afternoon and back for the evenings.

I keep forgetting the metric conversion but I know that 100+ is stinking hot. I am hoping more for 90's at most!

Here is a translation so those of us NOT from the US can figure out what upper 80's, lower 90's and 100 is. LOL. I keep this taped to my laptop and have one in the drawer by my desktop computer as well. It has a wider range of temps than this of course but boy does it come in handy!!

80.6 (27c)
82.4 (28c)
84.2 (29c)
86 (30c)
87.8 (31c)
89.6 (32c)
91.4 (33c)
93.2 (34c)
95 (35c)
96.8 (36c)
98.6 (37c)
100.4 (38c)
102.2 (39c)
104 (40c)

I just booked my trip over the weekend! I'll be there August 10 - 15 at the PPH. :cheer2:
YAY! Welcome. You have been added to the list :thumbsup2

we too had a blast no matter what the temp was.... but those water rides were especially nice pixiedust::cool1:

We LOOOOVE those wet rides on hot hot days! What a relief they are :hyper:

No question of the week? :)

What about the opposite to last week's question?

What is the one ride you refuse to go on?

For me, I will not go on California Screamin' in DCA and Splash in DL.

Although, depending on how hot it is in August, I might change my mind about Splash! :sunny:
Thanks again for filling in for me! Man, how my weekend and week just slipped right by me!

:cheer2: Hurray! It looks like I'm going to be hitting California and Disneyland for the first time in Aug.
YAY! Welcome. You have been added to the list :thumbsup2

Woohoo! Please add me! August 10-16 at PPH

YAY! Welcome. You have been added to the list :thumbsup2

Wow I'm late to the party! Just skimmed through the rest of the pages.

I'm going for half marathon weekend, arriving 26th August and leaving on the 31st
We'll be staying at Desert Inn & Suites from 28th,
I'll be doing the 5k run with my parents, then the 10k with my parents and DH. DH suggested an early lunch at Blue Bayou after the 10k, so I'll probably try to book that. Don't have any other dining plans for the week yet, but I would like to fit in breakfast at Storytellers at some point.
YAY! Welcome. You have been added to the list :thumbsup2
how is the race training coming along?

Howdy - joining the August list! DD, sister and myself are heading to Disney August 23-26th, staying at the Anabella Hotel.

YAY! Welcome. You have been added to the list :thumbsup2

Today marks a significant milestone in the countdown to Disneyland.... Today we are into double digits!!!!! 99 days!!!!!!!

I just started training again after surgery for compartment syndrome. It was going really well but now I've found myself in hospital again with abdominal pain and they think it's my gall bladder, so who knows what havoc that will wreak! Hopefully once this is over it will be smooth sailing :-)

Gall bladder surgery is pretty routine, if done laparoscopically (sp?) I had mine out and was back to work in two weeks. Also you don't realize how much it affected your life until it's gone and everything feels better.

Apparently I do need it out, I'm just trying to get well enough to get home first (we went interstate for the weekend and that's where I still am). I can't really afford to have 2 weeks off of training, but I certainly can't do any training in this state either. The doctors have told me it will be a very simple day procedure so here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

What is your FAVORITE DISNEY MOVIE???

For my DD it is...
Top cartoon - Princess and the Frog & Peter Pan
Top real living people - Pirates of the Caribbean

ME...
Top cartoon - The Little Mermaid & Beauty and the Beast
Top real living people - Does Iron Man count as Disney now? cuz I am totally :cloud9: about Iron Man!!!!!!!!!!

Favorite Disney Movie..... So many choices it's hard to narrow it down.

Favorite Princess movie would have to be Sleeping Beauty. Non-princess but still animated would be The Rescuers.

Non animated would be Watcher in the Woods.

My favourites as a kid were Dumbo and Bambi. I can remember my Granny taking me to see Bambi at the movie theatre. This may have been the first movie I saw in the theatres. As an adult, my favourites are Toy Story 2 and Up. DS's favourite movie is Toy Story - he always asks to watch it when he's sick and it makes him feel better. I think he can recite most of the movie. DD's favourite movie changes often, but I think it's probably still Peter Pan.

All time fave is Jungle Book, but I love so many of them!

I'm a 90's child so it's a close tie between Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. With Aladdin and Little Mermaid very close behind.

We have finally booked our WDW vacation 17th-24th and we're staying in the little mermaid room at AOA. This will be my daughters third time in WDW but first time to actually participate and understand.

Her 4th Birthday is just 30 days before our trip. We plan on surprising her with a package "from the castle" a cinderella dress, tiara and a letter from Cinderella inviting her to stay for a week. We have reservations at Akershus for breakfast and Cinderellas Royal Table with the princess package for a lunch later in the week.

The hardest part from here on out is keeping my mouth shut!

Hi princessforadaughter. Congrats on planning your trip! :thumbsup2 It sounds to me like you may have the wrong thread though. This thread is for trip planning for Disneyland in California and I think you are going to Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida?

Here is the link to the trip planning threads for those going to WDW in Florida.
