**** Official 2014 AUGUST - Disneyland thread ****

Many of you have left already on your trips and several are leaving really soon. So... does anyone have some packing tips that they would like to share? I have exactly 2 weeks to go, and I really want to get packing NOW but I know I better wait. I have a suitcase on the floor in my bedroom right now that I've been tossing stuff into so that I don't forget them - things like my old cell phone that we'll be using on the trip, headphones for the kids on the air plane, our autograph books and a tube of sunscreen that I bought when it was on sale. I also started up a packing list where I've listed all of the things we need to bring and I've organized them by which suitcase or back pack they're going into! (I know, I'm crazy!)

Here are my 3 tips for packing:
1 - pack the kids clothes by outfits so that it's easy for them to grab their clothes and get dresses in the morning. Also, that way I know that their shorts will match their shirts and I won't have to worry about battles where DS wants to wear plaid shorts with a striped shirt!
2 - ziplock bags! I use these for a lot of things and I also bring extras along with us. I put the swimsuits into ziplocks and squish all of the air out. Then, on our arrival day, the swimsuits are right there and ready to go. When we pack to go home, I can toss them into the ziplock and don't have to worry about all of our other stuff getting wet. I also bring the smaller sized ones for the kids to put snacks in to eat on the way into the parks. Oh, and they're great for toys - DD loves to get little tiny things, so she can put these into a ziplock once she opens up the package. And they're great for Lego too, so we don't have to bring the box home.
3 - for coming home, I pack all of the clean clothes that we didn't wear in one suitcase so that it's easier when we get home and unpack. I know I don't have to bother washing those ones.

I'll be there exactly one week from right now (provided traffic cooperates).

just have a quick little minute to post my instagram. wakica

Isn't that a big surprise??? :rotfl2:

So... does anyone have some packing tips that they would like to share?

After 5 Disneyland trips and 4 visits to family in Ontario, I've got packing for our family down to a fine art. I know what DS is going to need for the time we are away, I get DH to grab whatever he needs and I try without much success NOT to pack way too many clothes for myself!

One thing that I always make sure I do is to pack shorts, sandals and sunscreen right at the top of one bag since we always fly in early in the morning so we are all usually wearing jeans.

I also make sure that I unpack our suitcases and put all our clothes away, I just find it easier to find things that way. I also use one of our empty suitcases for dirty laundry so I always know what is clean and what is dirty.

I also try not to pack too early, especially when we travel in the summer since most of what I will pack is the same as what we need to wear like shorts, tshirts and tank tops. I just do all of the laundry the night before and pack then.

As I always say as we leave for any trip, as long as I have our passports and credit card, everything else can be replaced so why worry too much!

Yes. Don't be like me and wait. Lol. I'm usually better about it, but random occurrences this week in the evening prevented me from my routine of doing something every night.

So it's now 11pm, I work tomorrow, we leave at 2pm, and I still have about two hours of stuff left to do. Thankfully, we are driving, so I don't need to be as organized. And the first part of our trip is the relaxing, no plans or rushing around. Just hanging out at the beach. :)

Getting up tomorrow at 4am for a 7:30 flight. It's 11:30 now. 4 hours of sleep if I'm lucky ....

Heigh ho, heigh ho, it's off to Disney we go!

Do you put each outfit in a ziplock bag? I used to do that when my kids were young. Pair of socks, underwear, shorts, and a shirt in each bag. I was so anal that I would even write the day on each bag because we would have character dining so I would want them to wear a particular shirt on a certain day. Also I bring a small beach bag in my suitcase and have all the suits, sunscreen, and pool toys in the beach bag so when it's pool time all I have to do is grab the bag. One last tip for those of you that get the refillable mugs, at home I wet paper towels and put dish detergent on them and then let them dry out on the counter overnight then I put them in a bag so I can clean the mugs out right in my room. Just run the towel under the water and you have suds.

I'm now following both of you. We should all use the hashtag #augdis on our photos so that they're easy to find. !

great idea!!! :cheer2:

gerilynesanders for instagram here! trying to get caught up following everyone who shared names already:maleficen

on a side note, ever notice how the last day of work before vacation goes by so unbelievably slow???

We're leaving tomorrow for southern California--I can't believe it! I'm probably going to get on the road by 4 PM or no later than 5. We'll get down to that area at around 7 or 8 AM on Sunday and then Disneyland/DCA is Mon/Wed/Thurs!

So envious of everyone who is either in DL already or who is leaving now!

But...we just got into single digits! Nine days until we leave! :cheer2:
