Many of you have left already on your trips and several are leaving really soon. So...
does anyone have some packing tips that they would like to share? I have exactly 2 weeks to go, and I really want to get packing NOW but I know I better wait. I have a suitcase on the floor in my bedroom right now that I've been tossing stuff into so that I don't forget them - things like my old cell phone that we'll be using on the trip, headphones for the kids on the air plane, our autograph books and a tube of sunscreen that I bought when it was on sale. I also started up a packing list where I've listed all of the things we need to bring and I've organized them by which suitcase or back pack they're going into! (I know, I'm crazy!)
Here are my 3 tips for packing:
1 - pack the kids clothes by outfits so that it's easy for them to grab their clothes and get dresses in the morning. Also, that way I know that their shorts will match their shirts and I won't have to worry about battles where DS wants to wear plaid shorts with a striped shirt!
2 - ziplock bags! I use these for a lot of things and I also bring extras along with us. I put the swimsuits into ziplocks and squish all of the air out. Then, on our arrival day, the swimsuits are right there and ready to go. When we pack to go home, I can toss them into the ziplock and don't have to worry about all of our other stuff getting wet. I also bring the smaller sized ones for the kids to put snacks in to eat on the way into the parks. Oh, and they're great for toys - DD loves to get little tiny things, so she can put these into a ziplock once she opens up the package. And they're great for
Lego too, so we don't have to bring the box home.
3 - for coming home, I pack all of the clean clothes that we didn't wear in one suitcase so that it's easier when we get home and unpack. I know I don't have to bother washing those ones.
